Professor Victor Von Hellfire being arched by red death would be the perfect combination of awesomely intense fighting and highly courteous professional relationships outside of office hours
@@MantaRaydiated They would go to each others cookouts. Babysit each others kid. God help you if you threatened the other ones family during an Arch. They would need a bucket and mop for any sort of funeral or last rights.
Unfortunately, I think Victor is in a entirely different league than Red Death, seeing as red deaths only super power is a flying horse and the ability to channel Liam Neeson whereas Victors superpower is the ability to fly, conjure hellfire from his hands, and being composed of some form of metal.
I love how he was completely and utterly ok with being threatened, attacked, assaulted, insulted, but the moment his student was put as risk, the gloves (and skin) come right off.
An invincible flame throwing metal flying super genius is a Level 5? Either the rating system is broken, or dude can hide his power level better than Krillin.
Plus the guy doesn't seem to have a base of operations or even some super science stuff to steal. He is just a regular teacher who happens to be related to that world's version of Dr. Doom. Reputation, henchmen, lair and vehicle are also counted in the Guild Ranking system. If he had those, coupled with his reputation he would probably be a level 9 or 10. Also he may refuse to participate and thus stay at 5. If he was a 10 he would have to fight Red Death or similar every week and that would take away from his humanitarian work, which he seems to value more than playing superhero in costume.
Equally matched AGRESSION. He says “I’m not gonna fight you” lol. He probably wouldn’t have if his students weren’t endangered. Personal Hygene might be a factor though...probably smells like plants and chalk.
It's probably because he's not really involved in the whole super science/superhero/supervillain world. He's probably just there because of his father. The guy has a pretty normal life except for the superpowers
I'd just like to remind everyone that the Monarch's last arch was a doctor specialising in hemmeroid removal. It's understandable he'd make this kind of mistake. And hilarious.
He's also got a severe lack of resources, it seems, which also is counted. He's got no backup, no fortress, no super science lab, etc. If Monarch came prepared he could basically run circles around the guy and denying him a straight fight
Kate Grant The problem is that he seems to want to have a more normal life and not show off his powers. If he used his super powers he could probably be a level 7 or 8 on his own. Let's see just based on this scene he has as least a higher state of invulnerability that could probably stop bullets. He can shoot out exploding fire balls from his hand and finally he can fly or levitate. So far one of the few stronger villains shown would be Red Death. Remember he is a 10.
I love the idea of the son of a big time Silver Age villain getting a regular job even though he's also a high-level power. He's Scott Evil all grown up and got over his daddy issues.
Awww. But yeah. I would TOTALLY buy that comic! Seriously, in a world of superheroes and supervillains, here's a guy, father a villain, himself granted powers, just living an ordinary life. And occasionally someone comes to him for a "thwarting" or something! That would definitely be a fun little one-off! (I'd actually be curious as to how they'd make that into a continuing series, probably having to rely on what's happening hero/villain-wise in the background, at least to keep it from getting stale.)
The Monarch needs to stop getting paired with bad fits. Dr Dugong & that one random doctor gut were way too low level to be his arch, while JJ & Von Hellfire were way too strong. Hell, when Sgt Hatred was packing heat, Rusty was a bad match because his troops were under-equipped for handling guns. At least Samson mostly stuck to melee...
It is tough JJ played it straight. What I mean is that he was honest and genuinely a good guy. So if the Monarch managed to out maneuver him through deception he may beat JJ, but otherwise JJ would stomp him.
Also Dr. Hellfire is probably only a level 4 arch because he does not want to show off his power. If he would go all out he would probably be a level or two under Red Death.
I like how the biggest baddasses (Professor Avon Hellfire, Red Death, etc) are only really legitimately pissed if you go after the innocents around them like their students or family.
@@campfortson4387 Brock killed a bartender for making a joke about his mullet, he was just bloodthirsty and looking for any reason to kill a guy Late season Brock might care though
Several Treaty of Tolerance Violations here: (According to the Guild of Calamitous Intents' own PR video): 1) Disrespecting personal boundaries. The Monarch attacks in the middle of class on a college campus, putting young students at risk. That's got to be a big treaty violation right there. 2) Physically attacking an arch who refuses to engage with you. One of these guys , either Hellfire or the Monarch, is in violation of the arching rules. You either sign up for the rules and play by them, or you don't. 3) Taking civilian hostages not part of the arching pact. 4) Extreme mismatch of power levels. First, Monarch chooses an arch that lives underwater and collects.......cuttlefish. Next, he takes on an arch that could best the most powerful villain in the Guild. Does the Monarch do any research at All when choosing an arch, and for that matter, does the Guild even review the matches before approving them?? Guess I'd better send in my resume as an arch coordinator......
On point 4 isn't it equally matched 'aggression' - not power? Power is a factor, but things like Henchmen, money, technology, they all count too, and Victor Von Helping is A: on a teachers budget and B: not exactly stocking up on such things. The system probably wasn't really designed for situations like this one, where somebody was (most likely) signed up non-consensually and only counts as a level 5 from power alone.
There's always going to be politics in play, from humiliating your competition to brushing over minor violations for your own convenience to outright breaking rules because you want to. When you give supervillains clout, some are going to use it to break as many rules as they think they can get away with, and the same goes for "super scientists" like Jonas.
Oh a perfect example, it's like when you look at famously neutral nations like Sweden or Switzerland... Then you see how big their military is. Being reluctant to fight is not the same as not knowing how.
@@JamesTobiasStewart The story goes that a German officer was in Switzerland on vacation. While there, he met a man who happened to also be an officer in the Swiss army. While talking, the German jokingly asked "The German army is twice as strong as the Swiss army. What would you do if Germany invaded Switzerland?" The Swiss officer replied, in all seriousness, "Shoot twice and go home."
@@Ahandsomeface yeah I'm with you on that one, I mean he throws fire balls at people and he can melt any thing or anyone into a pile of molten crap or something.
Because she didn't want Monarch to kill Sunshine, so it was either Sunshine Beam so Monarch loses an actual fight, or hope and pray he doesn't kill Sunshine like he did Wonder Boy
He was actually given a folder with his backstort, Hellfire is the son of a villain and his dad wanted him to follow in his foot steps but decided to become some liberal weenie professor, either way its awesome that he's just the reverse of Dr.doom.
As someone that likes Dr. Doom. I seriously would read a comic with Victor Von Hellfire and I thought Red Death was awesome. I hope that it turns out he is a crown prince of some fictional western european country in exile.
well he is the son of a supervillain, if he could choose he would probably want something more relatable. But it is his given name and when he is angry I tells you just how much he is going to ruin your day
@@KaaneDragonShinobi true. but threaten his students and he will let you know his true name and true face and all will know him and... I mean thank you for come today class
I love how the Monarch says hello to Dean. Like they're kind of friends. It's sweet. Shame that Dean is busy hating everything about his life at the moment.
The Monarch just being so nonchalant about it just makes it worse. Heck, the Monarch looks happy to see him and doesn't even appreciate how annoying he is towards Dean.
The monarch at this point may as well be Doc's frenemy, yeah he hates him but he can have moments where they just chill, he even knows his kids on a personal bases. They're family afterall, it is kinda nice how Hank seems to get along better with the Monarch, and Dean gets along better with Rusty. I wonder if now that the movies out, the rules have shifted with what the monarch is capable of getting away with? *Spoilers for those that haven't seen the movie* The monarch being Rusty's imperfect clone might make him classified as equal to or almost equal to Rusty, in the guilds and OSI's eyes. If that's the case does that mean Brock who was assigned to protect Doctor Venture is now incapable of harming the Monarch? Also I wonder if the monarch being an imperfect Rusty means he has the right to take partial custody of Dean and Hank? Granted they're grown up now so I guess not but still would be funny if he took Rusty to court just to be petty or for child support. I wonder if the check to leave Dean and his family alone would come into play? There's just so many more stories to share it really sucks this show got cancelled.
@@cgecko3 I don't think being a clone makes you the same person. I think it's more something where they are allowed to define their relationship. And it seems like both of them would rather be enemies. Which, as we have seen, isn't the least healthy relationship they could have
@@rosesweetcharlotte There's so much open ended nuance behind that philosophically speaking. They are two very different people yet they are also quite literally cut from the same cloth. I agree that they aren't the same they have enough to distinguish them from eachother but it is very interesting to think how other characters might perceive them now.
God, his compassion for his students is insane. He seems scary, but you know you could go to him if you were having trouble with assignment or were dealing with problems at home or something and he would be patient as fuck!
@@funkmantim2661 I can totally see that. Red: you know i was thinking my cute Ragamuffin could be quite the botanist when she grows up, but honestly i just wanna see her excel at anything that she puts he mind too...* has Victor in headlock* whatcha think Victor: honestly.... it's good to see a dad be as openminded but really, if you wanted to talk we could've done this more civilized. Red: Yeah i know this seemed like a good idea at the time... Victor: ugh... fine i'll feed into it...* throws a fireball in Red's face* i mean i get you want to think about her future...but you might be going TOO far ahead, she's what...1st grade 2nd grade? Red: yeah but things can happen...might get her mother's brains and be in college at 14... Victor: wait your wife went to college at 14...? Red: No...but she is as intelligent as she is beautiful.
I don't think it would be much of an arching. Red is a strict professional and would not endanger an innocent for the sake of an arching since, much like his own family, he would see it as "out of bounds" while Victor's physical nature would make him impervious to traditional combat and his emotional nature leaves very little exploit. Neither would benefit from the process so it'd be a total wash (plus since Victor is only considered a 5, due to his pacifism, it'd be too under Red's radar to even bother)
who knows? This show has been an instant classic since it first started, there's a lot that should be done to get them bigger and I think a comic would definitely be a great way to go
Here's how I'd imagine if Red Death arched the Professor (I'm just calling him professor cuz his name is pretty long: *Red Death charges into the class on his steed* Red Death: *in his villainous voice* "Professor I have come for you Mwahahaha!" Professor: "Could you wait ten minutes, I'm just finishing a class?" Red Death *in his normal voice* "Oh sure I can wait, I'll just wait around the campus square in the meantime." *flies out through the hole in the window* *They eventually meet in the college campus square and commence a battle of epic proportions, then after some time an alarm on Red Death's watch goes off.* Red Death: "Oh quitting time already, want to grab a coffee?" Professor: *in their metallic endoskeleton* "Sure, I think the campus coffee place is still open this time of day and I'll pay if you want?" Red Death: "Great... I think the wife and I are hoping our daughter can go to this college in the future... Looks quite promising for my special girl." [SCENE] That's how I think it would go down at least XD
I don’t normally watch this show in full episodes have I enjoy it, but for that scene alone you just described I would absolutely watch a full episode because it would take a full episode to start them off right and do them justice
Damn, between Hellfire and Red Death, Venture Bros has been absolutely knocking it out of the park with super heroes/villains I would want to see get their own series.
The two of them make great examples of really powerful superhumans, with a high degree of lethality, who are nevertheless highly polite and respectful outside of combat situations. I suppose the difference (besides their moral alignments) is that Red Death, for all that he respects the work life balance, does enjoy his work as a supervillain, while Von Hellfire refused to engage until his students were threatened. Which is also probably why Red Death is a 10 but Von Hellfire is only a 5, the former is a long term part of this setup, while the latter seems to want nothing to do with arching.
Dammit, Gary! We all know Malc... er... The Mighty Monarch rarely does his homework. That's why it's up to you to know that you're arching an iron-clad, flying, flamethrower guy before you go running-in without a clue what you're even trying to steal or accomplish!
I honestly how they can convey how much of a bigger man Prof Vic is by simply showing him politely turning the other cheek til one of his students is threatened
There has to be rules for people who don't want to participate in arching or being arched regarding family/friends, because if police won't help you'd probably be in the clear to defend yourself from this stuff..
Afqwa Ah, but what of the arched friends/family? In this situation, would Dean/Sirena be restrained by general laws or rules of OSI/Guild should they defended themselves in a manner in which the villain is injured/killed due to the villain causing them as bystanders to be involved in their arch by way of their lives being threatened.
@@ignisking759 I think they'd be allowed to defend themselves, and indeed encouraged, but ultimately what's protecting Serena is Wide Whale. Wasn't this expanded on in the 1st/2nd/3rd season when Monarch went after Jonas Venture Jr? I thought the gambit Dr. Mrs. The Monarch set up was that arching Jr. gave Monarch periphery arching rights to Rusty? And we know both Dr. Dugong and this Hellfire person are relations to fairly high ranking members of the Guild, but neither is exempted from being arched (though if what Victor says can be taken at face value, it's possible his pater is hoping a stream of jerks in costume will make his son snap). The Guild isn't a business, it's a protection racket, like Grodd's Secret Society. They care first and foremost for their villainous members. It's just easier to keep the police and OSI from coming down on everyone's necks if some guidelines are established. Dr. Mrs. The Monarch did tell Jonas Jr. the Guild would take extreme retribution if he killed the Monarch, and it seems Wide Whale couldn't actually attack him despite having a personal grudge to do so with.
As established in The Lepidopterists (however you spell it) the Guild can and does sanction relatives of arches to be valid targets in certain circumstances; the Monarch uses this loophole to arch Venture after Jonas Jr retaliates with disproportionate force against him.
He's been asking himself that his entire life. Which is ironic, as that was Dr. Venture's main complaint about his Own childhood growing up; and then he turned around and did the same thing to his own kids....
To be fair, The Monarch has a habit of rushing into fights that could end VERY badly for him. Hell, he's been disregarding the Guild and it's authority for a LONG time.
Everyone acting like Monarch could have taken him because “he’s a level 5 arch” first off, arch levels aren’t power levels. This isn’t dbz, get out of here with that. Secondly, Hellfire doesn’t fight his arches. Most likely they’ve never been in a position where they decided to take a hostage, so they probably just attempt to hurt him, it doesn’t work, so they leave. Monarch however sees this is not the case. Get over your angry faces number battles.
Yeah, in the episode they were shocked he was only a level 5 and throughtout the season the show constantly references level as being multiple factors such as assets, henchmen, even personal grooming. This dude in this episode literally was being shown to not be a super scientist but just a regular teacher
I love how 21 always tried to reason with the Monarch and just gets screamed at to do what he says. Which usually leads to them getting in deeper shit.
When he started melting I started laughing thinking it was so over the top and basically the Monarch is completely screwed, and when he starts burning up his clothes while doing that cliche swirling power lift, I lost it. XD
When you consider that Sirena is Wide Wale's daughter, Dean has O.S.I. protection, the Monarch and Two Ton 21 having each other's backs, Professor Victor Von Hellfire might actually be the least dangerous person in that room. He won't get mad unless you mess with his students as far as we know.
1:01 it was at this point Monarch knew he f12ked up Also who else thinks that Professor Victor Von Hellfire and Red Death could get along incredibly well
I love that since it's equally matched aggression, Victor is a five. It's not about what he can do, it's about what he chooses to do and his accomplishments. If it was just "This guy is THIS GOOD" (he's arguably the most threatening hero in the show), he'd be a 10. I love that this show established these rules and stuck to them.
This is like those many RPGs where you missed that one low level enemy early game and then when you troll around the starting area at level 70 or something they try starting shit with you.
