Beautiful fish and morning! Unfortunately, it's just making me more homesick. I've been away from the area for too many years and your video captures the exact reasons I need to get back. Thanks!
I second that. I spent ten happy years in Florida and I caught many snook and jack from the beach. That’s why I watch these videos! Need to go back. Life’s too short.
Awesome catch !! Have caught a few big beach ⛱️ snook over here in the Naples / Bonita Springs area !! Great catch and watching these vids is getting my stoke up to go fishing !!!
I moved to florida from N.C. when I was 10 yrs old. I'm now 63 yrs. old. Great place to live and start a family. Deerfield, Pompano bch. area. We live in a paradise.
Nice job and that snook. We're still not recovered from the massive red tide issues we had over a year ago down here in Naples. Maybe by nex year. Hey see you're new so I subbed you. Gonna take a look and see what you have. Thanks.
Great video, first time watching your channel and subscribed. I beach fish west coast of Florida and never fished that shallow close to shore.... in the swash. I need to add that Vudu Mullet to my arsenal. 👍🏼
sorry to ask but what lure did you use to catch the big snook in im pretty interested just checked out the channel love the channel keep up the good work I subscribed too
Great video and thanks! I have caught some pretty big snook under my local bridges in the Stuart area but so far nothing from the beach, even as recent as this week. This was late afternoon. Am I better off trying deep in the night or at dawn?
I don't like night fishing but night def good for snook. Dawn and dusk are great times too. But they'll also hit midday. My beach fly fishing video was around noon. Know your beach. Gonna post another midday bite soon. Nice to sight fish when the sun is up. Good luck
Just got back from Marco Island. Just beach fished mostly with shrimp off the bottom. Didn't catch anything "epic" but did get some smallish snook along with myriad other finned creatures including a little hammerhead. Just curious, what do you think he weighed? Two years ago with a guide at night I got two 12 lb'rs and my son got an 11. Yours looks about that, but I can't really tell. Anyway nice video. Thanks!
You know, I've never weighed a snook. But this one was definitely 40+ inches. So maybe 15-20 lbs? Others can comment on what a 40 inch snook weighs. Thanks for watching.
Thx. As for leader ... multiple factors. At the beach if the water is churned up or dirty and/or anticipating big fish - 40 or 50 lb flourocarbon. Smaller fish and clear water - 30 lb
Thanks. That snook ate a vudu mullet. Always good to 'match the hatch' but also good to have a lure you have confidence with. Try different ones and see what works best for you
Sorry about that. Fyi I'm certain now of the combination I was using that day ... shimano teramar 7'6 medium w the 4500 reel. Lighter than I prefer for big snook but tough to throw small baits with heavier gear.
Sorry just realized I was answering about a different video. But the gear for this vid is listed in the comments section cuz others also asked. Let me know if you dont find it
@@straightouttajupiter it’s a good discussion to have. Check out this article from FWC myfwc.com/research/saltwater/fish/snook/reduce-catch-release-mortality/ It states that removing the hook when it’s deep inside, and/or injuries to the gills typically result in the fish dying. That plus stress and exhaustion from a prolonged fight. My assessment based on the FWC article is that the fish must have been tremendously exhausted, the hook seemed to be well inside, close to the gills. You removed the hook which is against the recommended technique, but fair enough, you were using a lure, so a little bit more tricky in your case but nevertheless, there were visible injuries on the fish. It was bleeding when you were holding it, and blood was seen in the water during the release. So, my conclusion is that essentially you killed the fish. Now, the questions I’d like to ask and allow people to comment are, what do we do with a dead fish? Do you throw it back to the water? Or you make use of this resource and consume its meat? What would happen if FWC inspects your cooler and sees a fish that is ilegal to keep? Can you explain what happened and the reasons why you kept it? Will they argue or believe you?
@@franciscopinero3692 yes, they will definitely argue with you. it really does not matter if the fish is going to die, the rules are rules. and if you know how to unhook your fish correctly, they should be fine. fish are a lot tougher than we believe them to be. I've gut hooked multiple fish and have had them swim off just fine. my girlfriends father has even hooked onto jack that have taken the fishing rod into the water, a year later, he caught the same fish with the fishing rod still attached to it. that's how tough they are. so in the end, that snook will probably live and carry on with his fish life.
Thx. I dont think my fellow beach fisherman would appreciate me giving more detail. The snook are everywhere right now. Water is crystal clear. Tons of bait. Go find them! Thx for watching
@@straightouttajupiter That's what I'm saying, they make special pliers just for that. Several different types and they are cheap. Some are angled some not some come w/ little loops on the end etc. Whatever you prefer, jut a little effort to get a pair of these pliers will really pay off. :)
On this day... shimano teramar 7.5 foot medium weight rod with penn slammer 4500 reel. For catch and release snook fishing, I try to use the heaviest gear possible, considering the bait, conditions etc. I highly doubt most fish will survive long drawn out battles on ultra light tackle.
