Tell him keep going I love fishing Im ten and I love it so much i got 3 catfish in one day that’s how long I fish I also have fished over 50 hours this summer
@@MeatMi1k Weird reaction. But if your first instinct wasn't to figure out how to cancel this person for cracking a pretty funny joke then it's not the worst reaction at least lol I guess I more or less guffawed and snorted a little bit... wasn't pretty!
That’s exactly right. He won’t learn or appreciate it nearly as much if he doesn’t have to fight the fish by reeling it in. His struggle will bring him satisfaction
I appreciate the fact that you let him reel it in instead of taking the pole from him. I'm sure it helped to boost his confidence to know he reeled it in himself
This dad: **lets son reel fish in** My dad: “Whoa, that’s a big fish! Ah, you better let me reel ‘er in for ya son.” **violently rips fishing pole out of my hands**
@@supaMcnugget09 You do know who Dave Miller is, right? A well known Bow Hunter. World Record 17 point Buck with a Bow. Rocky The Red Deer claims his dad took down the 17 point Buck with a gun. That is false. The only 17 point Buck was shot with a Bow.
I'm picturing now that every "stocked" pond is actually a thriving business where fish get trained how to be caught and if released, they go back to their boss to review their performance
Reminds me of the time I first caught a fish with my dad. At the time, I was around this kid's age. I caught a catfish and at the time, I found it rly hard to reel it in since it kept trying to swim away. Hardest part was when I got it out the water. Young me found it super heavy since the fish was still hooked and my little noodle arms at the time tried my best to keep it in the air till my parents grabbed a bucket and put it there. Fun times.
@Billy Webster It was about a foot long. I had been trying to reel it in for 10 minutes. Tried asking for help but my dad just ignored me and cheered me on lmao
As someone who has caught a fish bigger than me at around tristans age, i can confirm that this moment will be cemented as a core memory in his life. Good shit yall👍he did that shit all by himself🔥
@@abrahamlincoln3607 you must be really excited all the time seeing everything in America that happens everywhere but is American because it's in America when you're looking at it..

1 yr later and this has to be the best YT recommended video yet. Great job kid! It's awesome seeing a little guy so excited to fish 🐟 with dad instead of wanting to stay indoors all day long.
I caught a catfish that was about 3 feet long when I was about 5 and this reminded me of it. My dad had to hold onto me so I wouldn’t go flying into the water 😂
@@jstnyeet1613 Lmao "the game is good". Fortnite is by far the worst game i've ever experienced in my entire life. I'd rather play Dark Souls 3 and pour lemon juice in my eyes everytime I die .
To bad you have to kill them legally when you catch them because there an incredibly invasive species that eats and populates 14× faster then native species.
I used to fish with my dad all the time as a kid, but not once did he ever let me reel it in. He’d get all excited, yank the pole from my hands, reel it in, get it off the hook and then let me hold it/throw it back. I think he took me along less as a father/daughter bonding activity and more as a way to monitor two poles at the same time. :/
@@finalfroggitapproaches6418 At least you were nice. I let my daughter (3 then) reel hers in. I took it off, handed it to her, was trying to wipe my hands off to take a picture, and she tried to see if it would fit it my ear. Scared the crap out of me.
@@finalfroggitapproaches6418 🤣🤣 true that... but in a lot of Dad's defence.... I've seen fish pull kids into the water before.... 🤣🤣 You don't want a 5year old trying to reel in a strong angry fish on a free rod.... especially if it's out in open water.

So happy for all the people who have good relationships with dad because my dad is psycho, good with people who don't know him, but sucks to be his son
Awwww. Congratulations!! My youngest son name is Tristen as well. He absolutely loves fishing. He actually won a fishing tournament when he was 4yrs for the bidders fish. It was 6.4lb rainbow trout. He was so stinking happy
Shit i would have dropped this fish and got hit with the pole by my "dad" some people's dads are pos but hey i have a kid now and i am the complete opposite thank fuck hahah im really glad child abuse is becoming a straight felony these days. Physical punishment only results in a bad future. Shouts to all the good dads!
@@JustJennyT My mother was that mom too. I learned how to bait a hook from my mom. I also learned how to roll a joint from my mom. 🤣. She was a hippie. Through and through. Lol
I remember when I caught my first big fish at 8 years old (huge Pike in a swedish lake). I still tell the story and everytime I do, the fish gets bigger ;)
I thought the father was just saying his kid caught a monster fish I thought It was going to be small fish but it was huge and nice catch keep catching big fish
Whats the point then. You would just harm the fish inside the mouth. I rather kill and eat it. So he dont suffer. Why doing it for sport alone. Imagine hooking the inside of ur mouth for a few second and let go of u just so u can get back to ur friend. But with a crack deep as it can be inside ur mouth. Do it for the food or dont do it at all.
@@Marta_Fanai Well said, and you're correct, fish do feel pain. This concept wasn't commonly studied until early 2000s and is surprisingly still debated today. My 'fish story' took place in 1982. We were fishing for yellow perch, about 10" long and excellent to eat, using spinner type lures with barbless hooks. Fish won't swallow them like bait and undersized ones can be released with minimal injury. The carp is not good to eat and was a huge (no pun intended) surprise, they hardly ever take lures and were extremely rare where this one was captured. I've fished using barbless hooks since early '60s and am not a sport fishing advocate for reasons you describe. Today I teach people who insist on sport fishing to use modern plastic tube lures with no hooks. The fish - especially smallmouth bass - repeatedly attack these lures (since they're not injured) and some will actually jump from the water chasing them.... I'm glad you responded, it's good to know that others are advocates for wildlife welfare. I've seen horrific decimation of wildlife in my lifetime, now it seems finally more persons are trying to protect that which remains
@@whitneysimonetti3847Animal cruelty? Are you so useless in society that you need to complain about people fishing over things that actually need to be stood up for
I initially thought: “it can’t be that big right, the rod isn’t even bending that much and the kid is really young and small” but damn that’s a good fish👌👌
I’m really happy this video was recommended to me. I love how amazing the dad is during this all, even in the comment section. I hope the kid picked up a love for this sport. Not only has the kid already well over caught my pb, but he did great bringing him in!!
All you guys talkin about how impressive the kids patience is but I’m more impressed with his strength I couldn’t reel in the fish like that when I was his age (I’m guessing he’s like 6 or 7) it seemed pretty big
Maaaan, I'm probably 5 times older than that kid, and the fish he caught is 5 times bigger than any I've ever caught. 🤣 Little man out here killin it!!
Lmao so cute. My husband fishes only for cats, which my kid thinks is boring, but I fish for everything but cats. My dad taught me, I taught my son. Before he was in kindergarten, he was outfishing me. Reeled in and landed completely unassisted a monster bass when he was 4, bigger than any I ever caught. I had to help him hold it for a picture, and that was it. He tied his own bait, walked away down the shore by himself, casted, set the hook for a bite, picked his own spots (still in view), everything. But lo, be prepared to hear every day for the rest of your life- "Can we go fishing today?"
@@lilyxciv5637 go get a couple poles from Walmart and just start doing it! You don’t need anyone to teach you now, you know how to use RU-vid and you can find everything there you need to know plus a bunch you don’t! Get out and do it and have fun, you’ll figure it out real quick!! It ain’t hard at all but don’t forget to stop at Walmart and go back to the fishing section and they have a counter back there and tell them you need a fishing license. You will need one but your son won’t yet. While your there, get two fishing poles that have Zebco 33 reels on them. It is one of the best, easiest to use and learn on fishing pole 🎣 out there. It’s what I grew up e we it’s and they’ve probly been around 75 years now and they don’t cost much. If you have any other questions just ask! I think most of us out here would be happy to help ya get started but it’s really not hard
Yeah right, so who's fault is that? Tell him to go to a fish shop if want fish? Instead of bragging about his assisted fishing exploits. Teach him something useful to this world and that's NOT fishing.
Well done Dad your son will be a fisherman for life, he will never forget that day, and the fact its a decent sized fish just adds to his already fantastic memory
This is nothing I used to have to wait at his age for hours on the boat at his age,for one slurry of bites.I was always sick and threw up,but my dad and his friends never took me back and I just got stronger.Know I’m 12 and lead my little cousins, siblings, and my dad’s friends kids fishing.Anyway, this kid is awesome for his age,and that is a nice sized carp!
That monster fish is actually a grass carp! A pretty big one too. Impressive how fast and Easy this kid reels it in, once took me a whole hour to get those in the net
@@pancouvervenguins8573 I mean it’s really not a small fish. It may not be that hard to reel in (unless you were using a 4 foot rod with 4lb test and no net like I did), but you don’t have to be so uncool about it. Stop thinking your tough shit for reeling in a halibut. 12 year olds can probably fight one
Oh wow! It reminds me of when I was little. The story goes like this: So I was 4 when this happened, I was on a boat with my grandparents while fishing. I got a fish on my line, so I rilled in until the Bass’s huge mouth came up, but as soon as it came up, I lost the fish.
