my disappointment is immeasurable🙃 why cant hammer have cool things!! honestly i think the RISE combat designers lowkey hate hammer mains. probably got golfswinged too many times so no awesome new combo, no new insane mobility, just a lil spin and an impact dmg buff for bit.😒
I totally agree with this. If they could've found a way to incorporate impact press from GU, with the brave moveset. I would've been content. but more spins?
@@AvatarRoku22 same here. Even hunting horn got way better attacks even though its main purpose is to buff and debuff. It feels like they did this to spite hammer users specifically. Almost every other weapon got lots of DPS moves, counters, several new combos and tons of combat potential in every area. But all the hammer gets is an attack buff? REALLY feels like hammer mains got shafted big time.
bitch i felt that hammer bonk damage hit that rathian hammer's good with these 💀 seriously though why did they make longsword so powerful though im a brainless ls main and i think i lost braincells from what they gave it
If you saw Arekkz's vid on the sns, you can remember that a buff granted by a switch skill can remain even after swapping scrolls. That means we might be able to activate impact burst, swap, and then do a buffed impact crater
It doesn't look like the damage of the shockwave is proportional to the damage of the hit that does it, though - in the video it's a flat 45 whether it's a hit from the charged spin or the upswing afterwards.
@@ForscherinN It's not the damage that makes that skill good, it's how it doubles shockwaves for KO damage, back in mhgu that skill singlehandedly made hammer crazy fast at KOing from any position since all you had to do was link charge moves back to back, was crazy fun and strong
Hammer mains running up to Horn mains "I want to show you something what I do" *Proceeds to twirl hammer on the ground* "It's just a thing I do" *Horn mains visible confusion*
The hunting horn new move even borrow some move from the hammer(you can see it on Capcom Japan Channel for now). So it possible having HH and Hammer unison attack.
I love how the wire bug has helped evolve all the weapons into their ultimate forms. I just got done watching the Switch Axe not too long ago and it's amazing. Which is why I main it compared to the insect glaive back in World.
Evolve them into their most broken form, more like. Wire Bugs are the sole reason Rise is as laughably easy as it is. Any threat? Wirefall away. Monster still alive? Spam switch skills because they are universally the best option for any weapon. If Sunbreak doesn't introduce consistent hard-counters to wirebugs its just going to be even easier than base Rise already is. Pulling an AT Velk or Furious Rajang where they were the ONLY monsters to counter Clutch Claw won't fix it.
@@xdude228 you probably also did not fight the emergency apex and advance quests yet. They are not like grank hard but they still are quite challenging.
@@marcusaaronliaogo9158 You mean the game that was only hard because it was filled to the brim with inflated damage or clunky mechanics? You remove those, you get Rise. Clunk factor was the only difficult part of older games. Equally, Apex are only mildly challenging because they took the hyperinflated damage gimmick directly from Generation's Deviants. You can still wirefall-2-win. People still claimed even back then that Valor and Adept made the game too easy, and look what happens when you effectively bring them back without all the clunky monster hitboxes and animations.
Really? I thought the Impact Crater Spammer was boring enough in Base Rise, and this is just lame as fuck. Hammer Main since MH Freedom 2, but I guess I‘ll just drop the weapon until the next MH game.
@@TheMaeximum tf is your problem? stop complaining and go work on the game yourself lol or just go back to the game you do enjoy the hammer in, its different in rise get over it
Looks good! As a GU valor hammer main, impact burst makes me all kinds of happy. Impact press was my favourite art in GU and this should make courage hammer a lot more fun
I'm not super versed on the limits of hotswitching your Switch Skills but I would be excited at the prospect of being able to switch between Strength and Courage stance freely. Meaning you can hit'n run like Classic Hammer and then switch to Valor Hammer with Courage stance for the big openings.
@@onedown9000togo Yeah I’m not too sure either. Will definitely be nice when we can get our hands on the game and test a bunch of stuff out. I think the new attacks are good additions that will hopefully make hammer a bit less impact crater spammy, that’s all I want really
I'm confused, I thought the Silkbind Spinning Bludgeon was the 1-wirebug Silkbind attack where we flung ourselves into the air while spinning and was the switch skill we that we could swap out with Dash Breaker. Is this a translation typo/error and what we're actually swapping out was the basic Spinning Bludgeon, the Yellow Hammer Charge Lvl 3 w/ motion input attack?
Don't even get me started on Narwa Soul and Ibushi Soul, or Dragon Exploit, or that the Basarios waist was for some reason called the Uroktor Coil, honestly someone needs to up their QA in the localization department, that Soul thing made the skill literally unusable unless you knew it was wrong
Oh please Gog almighty I beg you Monster Hunter... make the Hunting Horn great again... please give me back those bubbles or Sonic Strike, anything!!!! ;-;
Considering how many more attack options all other weapons got, even the hunting horn which is for support, I don't see that happening. Hammers got left WAY behind.
These previews are getting me soo hype!!! The armor and gear to go along with these skills are a chief kiss!! I hope we get master armor for our pets that sparklie and new as these armors!! Time to learn how to bonk and bam!
Not gonna lie, when I first watched this video I was low-key disappointed. Especially after watching the greatsword video and seeing the flashy new moves greatsword users will get to use in Sunbreak. But even though these moves aren’t really flashy, I still feel like they have potential. Especially the impact burst move. Anything that can let me flinch and KO monsters more in a hunt is a welcome addition in my book. I feel like impact burst paired with silk bind spinning bludgeon could be really good. Especially if used on taller monsters like chameleos or garangolm. I also feel like the charged spinning bludgeon move could be good if you can follow it up with a fully charged impact crater.
Yeah the impact burst should certainly be pretty good. It's essentially the impact press hunter art from Generations Ultimate, except unlike that one it works on all attacks from what it looks like. The impact press only really worked well with the Valor style weapons since it only activated on charge attacks
I doubt it. The spin itself, changing to impact crater, charging it and then finally using it will take a LOT of time, making it highly unlikely you'll get that hit. Even if a monster is stunned, it looks like it will take too much time.
0:33 It calls it "Silkbind Spinning Bludgeon" but I assume that's a typo or mistranslation since that move has nothing to do with Wirebugs. That being said, this Spinning Bludgeon: Charge seems to be directed towards using a Spinning Bludgeon then going for another Charge Attack, rather than doing the Big Bang Finisher that you do with normal Spinning Bludgeon. I can see this being very useful when the monster isn't incapacitated and you want to get him there, then swapping to hit him hard while he's downed. That or you could just use the Big Bang Combo since it usually does more damage but that's not as much fun now is it? Edit: I just noticed on SB: Charge you do a short step forward when you trigger it and a long hop backwards when you retain your Charge after using it, which is really nice and helps you use that function very aggressively. Edit 2: 1:11 That's a Power Charged Charge Attack. The Hunter never does an actual Power Switch (Strength or Courage) so we can assume that Impact Burst either puts you in Power Switch or swaps you into the other mode from whichever you are. Also they didn't tell use which Silkbind they were using/swapping in the last part like in the other videos. Again, either oversight oooor they intentionally hid it here to keep us guessing about the whether Silkbinds can be swapped (whether it's slots still or freely now). When they demonstrate Switch Skill Swap earlier they use Impact Burst and Impact Crater. It could still work that way at the end, but the two Silkbinds we see are Impact Burst and Dash Breaker. My excitement is mounting, and we still have over a month to go...
Thanks to this comment for making look at the new skills more. I noticed the new charge attack puts you in purple hammer mode regardless of the mode you are in. This could provide more up time after using Purple > Tier 3 Yellow impact crater.
What I am curious about with impact burst is how it affects Courage/Valor style. Will the shockwave only procc with every swing, or with every tick of damage? A fully charge attack from Courage style does two hits per swing. Will it only provide a third hit, or will it add two more?
@@The.Brother.in.Christ Ryozo Tsujimoto himself said Hammer is the best weapon. And if he says it has to be true. And it has probably nothing to do with the fact that the Hammer is his favorite weapon.^^
Yes some more ways to bonk, there is never enough ways to bonk. Also hammer disigns look awesome, i presume that is a lunagaron hammer and it looks sweet af.
The changes here may look subtle, but this is probably gonna change how we play the hammer (especially spinning bludgeon charge) and that is really refreshing
I mean, going from lvl 3 spinning (bludgeon?) charge to lvl 3 step smash/brutal big bang is cool and maybe the impact burst might revitalize the courage stance, but (personally) I think hammer needed a counter/superarmor from a charge, which the GS just received (plus their tackle). Water strike is nice and all, but I'm always in charge. And charge switch (stance change) is only 4 frames as well. I miss being able to reliably dodge through roars/tail swipes, especially with lvl 3 evade window, between charges. Also, I'm hoping those 6 hits from the impact burst activation are shockwave hits, because that would be quite a bit of sharpness loss. Edit: it looks like the stance change to strength is a dodge, of some sorts. Hopefully a decent amount of s.
@@MrDeni23n You are right in the counter departement. I rarely used it and have only recently when picking the game back up, been able to utilise it more. We should be able to use waterstrike in charge, that would already solve the problem. There is a superarmour in the form of Dash breaker, but it isn't the same. However, I still think the spinning bludgeon charge is gonna change the flow of the hamer charge.
Honestly i was gonna sh*t on cpurage hammer, but spinning bludgeon charge might actually make it somewhat decent since you wouldnt have to do 2 separate charge attacks to FINALLY get a lvl 3 one
I don't think people understand the potential of spinning charge, even if it doesnt' do a lot of damage its a way to charge fast while dealing damage, the swap to your other charge has repositioning baked into it, it allows you to instantly use your level 3 blue charge (Which is your strongest charge attack) Start charging the next one and charge swap (Which instantly puts you into level three normal charge when you swap back to it) to repeat the cycle. When they said chain level three charge attacks they meant it and it is gonna boost hammer DPS by a LOT!
Is that Lunagaron's hammer? Because it kinda looks like Stygian zinogre's colors...except its not i know what one looks like, so if not could be a new monster we havent seen?
One thing I felt always added to the immersion of the franchise was the feeling of weight in the weapons and hammer/GS were always the best for that feel Didn't feel it at all in this :/
@@RZ-yk2se I think he is referring to spinning meteor in GU? Its similar to lvl 3 standing charge yes but the meteor has a badass effect and has 3 to 4 more spins
HOLY GOG I JUST REALIZED, you can 100% spam the spinning bludgeon charge over and over again under the effect of impact burst while maintaining max lvl charge to then finish with Impact crater all with x2 impact damage, holy fuck
Okay spinning bludgeon: charge looks so sick. Just think how stylish it’s gonna be to slide back and go straight into level 3 blue charge. And impact burst… oh my god lol. It adds the extra burst of damage on charged attacks so imagine that paired with courage mode which already gets a double hit when you fully charge each level. If impact burst works with your element and isn’t just affected by raw then elemental hammer could actually be competitive with courage mode on the right monster. Just think of the damage you could do getting 3 hits per charged attack
Same. Was praying we could get some sort of crazy counter like the longsword has or even crazier spin moves like the Switch Axe has now. A buff feels like they just didn't want to bother with Hammer.
As a series hammer main, kind of underwhelming. I think if they cut down the numbers on impact crater hammer might be in decent shape. Otherwise I might stick with SnS which has more variation than just spamming impact crater.
My guess is that Impact Crater is a 2 Wirebug skill and Impact Burst is a 1 Wirebug skill and besides; Switch Skill Swap is a thing so we can have both anyway edit: actually, it makes several hits afterwards cause additional shockwaves of damage
Since the new buff buffs the rest of the moveset I will probably barely use Impact Crater in Sunbreak. Even if it still averages out on a higher DPS I do enjoy stuff like the Bing Bang combo or the Spinning Bludgeon just way more.
interesting that the hammer actually isn't matching the set of armor the hunter has equipped. they dont really show a hunter using a weapon that isnt matching the armor set, wonder if we will use the lunagarron hammer and gos harrag armor for the demo
