Thanks Noah, Part 2 is almost finished so short of a major malfunction should be out sooner rather than later.

Gav, none of us deserve quality content like this for free, but I'm so glad you are doing this. The opening animation was fab. A quick question: what do you use to recharge your electronics when you are on these longer trips? Many thanks

Greetings Michael, we've got a thing called a Goal Zero Yeti 400 that weighs as much as a small car battery, (great for ballast in the canoe.) It has 2 120 volt AC outlets, 2 USB and a cigarette lighter style DC outlet. It can be charged AC, DC or on the remote trip by fold out solar panels. On the Missouri trip the solar panels kept the machine running full for 2 weeks whilst on the cloudy John Day river in Oregon they were close to useless. We use an 'esky' instead of a fridge because it's multi purpose also going on canoe trips as well as Krikkit's seat, this reduction in power usage allows us to avoid installing a second battery in the Disco and we use the Goal Zero in there as well. There's a scene where we doing crackers and wine and the device is sitting discreetly beside me.

Great scenery, sad about the water quality of the Missouri Not sure why you used a canoe when it looks like you could've used a small trailer-able houseboat?

23:08 You nailed that. That is a feeder dike, a remnant of the plumbing system from a long gone volcano. The rock type is basalt, and the red coloration comes from the oxidizing of the iron-magnesium rich minerals it contains. Basalt is a hard, durable rock, and as the surrounding material has weathered and eroded, that dike is left standing proud in the landscape. Lots of volcanism swept though that region between 40-20 million years ago, and a wild guess on my part would be that's its age.

Thanks for that confirmation. There's a lot of room to be wrong in geology so I felt it a good idea to not stray beyond the basics in our little speech.

You guys continually put out the best travel shows on the interwebs, don't undersatnd why you haven't got 1M subs. Reckon a pic of Wilms bathing in her bikini as the thumbnail would garner a couple extra views. Out of interest, was that area in drought when you went through, or does the river always get snow melt?
@ForemanAndWilmsAdventures
@ForemanAndWilmsAdventures 2 года назад
I agree Mark, there's definitely a noticeable difference in viewer number when there's a shapely bottom in a G-string involved. Wilms isn't interested and I don't have the figure for it.

Great video. Thanks for sharing. I don’t know how you manage to capture all these different views and make it look so effortless. Maybe show some bloopers so we know it’s not so easy?

Greetings David, Our secrets for getting all the angles is giving ourselves at least half again the time to do a trip so we aren't having to rush, it also allows us to enjoy a journey rather than make it all about filming a video that might get 2000 views on a social media platform before getting buried beneath a barrage on new content. Other sneaky tricks are getting multiple angles from the drone shooting at 4K, twice our output resolution. This works well in a 'monotypic' environment where things don't change too much and you can crop and re-use shots throughout the video without notice saving time and energy in the field.

Your second night out along the dark cliff is where Ft. Mackenzie was located. It was built by Kenneth McKenzie, a Missouri fur trader working for the American Fur Company in 1832. Its objective was to trade with the Blackfeet Indians on the Missouri River near the Mouth of the Marias River. In 1833, the fort was visited by Alexander Philip Maximilian, Prince of Wied-Neuwied, a noted German scientist and explorer. Staying for several months, he studied the local Indians and collected plant and animal specimens. He was accompanied by Karl Bodmer, an artist who sketched and made paintings of the Indians and scenes in the surrounding countryside. In 1844, the fort was managed by a fur trader named Francis A. Chardon, who withdrew from the fort when hostilities with the Blackfeet were renewed. He soon established the short-lived post, Fort Chardon, opposite the mouth of the Judith River.

Greetings Cindy, our adventure videos have become a little rare of late. There's now a million and one channels all doing the same thing, so it's become a little less inspiring. This video was shot a year ago so it's been getting worked on for a while. I kept putting it off trying to avoid drawing a tonne load of cartoons.

@paddlewest2686 Год назад
Okay, I hear your concerns about water quality for drinking from the river. Yet, you have a very good MSR filter - looks like the Guardian. The MSR Miniworks actually gets out more contaminants than the Guardian. Even so, given the quality of the filter, and the limited amount you actually consume, it is likely just fine compared to a lot of things. Just putting that out there.
@ForemanAndWilmsAdventures
@ForemanAndWilmsAdventures Год назад
Greetings Paddle West. I have to agree with you on the water, Wilms has a much higher standard than I. We did sample some Eagle creek water which was probably worse than the Missouri yet seemed fine. As for Mordor and the John Day river you'd have to admit, on a cold misty day with those magnificent spires of stone vanishing into the gloom does create a dramatic look. Perfect for a dangerous fantasy land. We felt eyes upon us as we travelled through, turned out to be racoons.

Greetings Mr Woody. We're overdue for a visit home after Covid, I think early next year but we won't be filming anything. Our channel is in a wind down period, after the landy restoration videos we'll keep posting films but less and less as time goes on, kind of slide away into obscurity maneuver.

Might have been the little dogs claws on the rock, we only saw the one rattlesnake on the whole trip but he was too quick for me.
