Remember my first time playing moon, I was 10 or so and I decided to play with randoms for whatever reason, I can't explain the disappointment I had when I didn't actually get to make it to the moon cause everyone didn't get to the teleporter In time. I played by myself and finally made it to the moon, of course I kept dying and dying and dying but eventually through out the years I've managed to get good at zombies enough to actually get to high rounds, but I gotta tell you, I miss being bad and dying on round 5, something about the mystery of what was happening in the maps, always wondering what was behind that next door, always wondering what new crazy weapon was in the box, and coming to realization on what those colorful soda machines with the catchy jingles actually did. Those where the times where zombies was mysterious and honestly...Kind of scary, something about sitting in that main menu strapped to that chair, watching the room go red as you hear the zombies theme with banging on the window where Hudson was once looking down upon you at, and seeing TV screens showing where there was zombie outbreaks around the world and seeing people being experimented on, it was a full blown nightmare...A nightmare that I wish I could have again.
I remember having the game for over a year and I refused to touch zombies for the exact same reason, that main menu was terrifying and the crawlers too
I agree man, I had the same experience but with WoW, just something about the eerie menu music always creeped me out, especially playing zombies late at night.
My first map was five after the black ops campaign and being 9 or 10 at the time it was so scary but bo1 zombies was such a vibe I would pay to experience zombies for the fist time again
As a fellow moon enjoyer, I completely agree. Back when it came out, my 12 year old self was pretty lukewarm on it, but coming back to it in Black Ops 3, it's quickly become one of my favorite maps
I’m the same way, I didn’t truly appreciate the map until Chronicles. I think it’s easier to see how unique it is now that we have so many more maps to play
I used to be straight up ass at this map, but i am sooo glad i took the time to play it out when i became better at zombies. This map is very rewarding if you take the time to use what skills you've obtained in other maps, and apply them here. Now moon is an absolute breeze, and isn't as hard/scary as it used to be. Granted, it is still very punishing, but its not impossible to manage.
Hard agree, I love hanging out in No man's land after I've played long enough but dont want to just quit or die. Having one last stand to just train till I'm out of ammo and feel like a badass doing it is one of my favorite parts about Moon.
Moon has always been magical to me. Something about going into space, the Astronaut who used to always be some random guy off my friends list, the mysteriousness of the map. The risk reward of no mans land, and wondering what was there? Why do we spawn there? And being a kid who was heavily interested in the zombies story already, everything coming to a head with The Richtofen/Maxis story arc truly made this map feel like the ULTIMATE finale. Maybe Im alone, but Black Ops 1 was the last time for ME personally, that zombies will still, *Zombies* our four characters, a new park every map, a different new gimick aswell. Looking back, I have love for transit and BO2 but, it changed everything from that mystical atmosphere, which I dont think I could miss any harder if I tried. So, I'm glad there is people like you that were raised on this game like me, and still give it the love and appreciation this masterpiece deserves. Cheers to the days of Moon, and to the days of Good OLD zombies.
Fantastic analysis. The black ops 3 remaster especially helped the map a lot by doing things like limiting the astronaut spawns and allowing the easter egg to be completed on solo.
Thanks man. And I agree, the BO3 version made a lot of nice changes. I really like that the astronauts don’t spawn close to the player, it makes it scarier to run around the map when you know there’s one out there somewhere.
The Easter egg is possible solo as long as you had done both Call of the Dead and Shrangra la EE, I’ve done it and blown up earth and got permanent flopper and back before they patched it quick revive was infinite ♾
I remember playing on the original one and finally getting jug and PAP off start. Man alot of running and kniffing, nothing more exciting than getting a 130 after seemingly endless 10 dollar stabs
Man, I loved playing moon when it came out. It was so over the top compared to everything that came beforehand. Literally jumping the shark by going to the damn moon. I think this map might've been Treyarch's penance after Shangri-La lmao, it was so much fun. I loved bouncing around on those bounce pads and trying not to die. BO1 really went off on a high note thanks to moon, and the fact that this DLC came with all the original maps from WAW as well. What a package!
Moon is my favorite map since it launched. I loved every minute I’ve played on it. The hacker is op as all hell on coop and allows for near infinite paped ammo. The only gripe I’ve ever had is the teleporting nova crawlers.
great vid. moon has always been great but i feel like the zombies chronicles edition opened it up to so many people because of the difficulty of black ops 1. love to see it getting the credit it deserves
I never realised you get points for just holding onto the hacker. Is that a thing in bo3 too? Moon is such a good map! I've also noticed people tend to prefer "safe maps" and rag on maps like this that tried to do something different. Der Riese/The Giant, Kino, Ascension, Der Eisendrache, Gorod Krovi are all fan favourite which are all pretty safe. Whereas I find I enjoy maps that are more unique and less popular. I love Call of the Dead because of George's Perk and the very unique wonder weapons, but people hate it for the same reason. I love Moon for the reasons you said but some people hate it due to gravity/air, jug every-other-round and the EE RNG (Which is annoying tbh). Die Rise is very controversial, and sure its not for everyone, but it provides a zombies experience like no others and Who's Who can really come in clutch, being limited to the starter pistol and no perks make it all the better when you pull of an epic revive (Or in coop you can just train the zombies away from your body while a team mate revives you). Zetsubou no Shima always has something you can do with the plants every round, it has the coolest specialist weapon and IMO it has the fairest EE in BO3, yet people keep complaining its a "hard map" (As if GK isn't) and is buggy? I do enjoy those safe maps too, but idk how people who only play those maps don't get bored. They're all same-y to me, got to have some more variety.
This is the second video of yours I’ve seen today hours apart and they just get better. You present this so damn well. I’d put you above Tim Hansen honestly
There's also the Quantum Entanglement Device or whatever it's called, I believe it has a variety of uses, but the most notable one is that I believe if you throw it at a perk machine, it can either give you the perk for free, or spawn a red perk bottle which can be grabbed by either players OR zombies, and if it is grabbed it removes 1 perk from all players. Edit: after reading the wiki, I believe the anti-perk bottle is just one of the effects, and it is able to spawn a regular one as well. Throwing it at a perk machine supposedly will just give the perk to all players
Imma keep it a buck, this is probably your best video because it encapsulates everything good about your channel. You have a bit a map run down with some interesting things here and there and finish off with a lesson that actually makes you think about the game you’re playing, love ya man!
i like your point about how Moon really tries to break the rules. almost every starting room in zombies had 4 windows for 4 coop players but moon only had 2 windows. it was kinda annoying to share your window with someone in a way
I love Moon so much that I focus solely on completing the Easter egg during matches. I can usually complete half of the Easter egg between rounds 2 and 5. I just enjoy the easter egg itself and the whole earth getting blown to pieces to having TranZit take place years later. i find that unique and better then any other map zombies.
Moon is the best zombie map period. You can do so much there, so many different ways to play, so many gameplay options, so many side stuff to do. They really went out with a bang, a big bang.
3:44 High round moon player here, you can actually hack certain things in zero gravity without dying. You just have to be very exact in your movements as you have only 15 seconds before running out of oxygen.
Really enjoyed this video, I got randomly recommended this from the algorithm. I like your monotone and laid back demeanor, it’s a niche that is often missing from the popular zombies RU-vidrs. It also pairs well with a retrospective format 10/10 would watch again
I have zombies chronicles and I never touched moon ever even until now this might make me check it out. I just dunno if it was the zero gravity or not knowing the mechanics but I just never thought of playing moon. Now it's different. ShangriLa however I just thought was too hard for me
mon is and has been my favorite map for a long time. my second favorite is tranzit lmao. i love maps where you can bend and break the rules and the challenge is intense.
Let's not forget moon has the best wonder weapon imo. The wave gun. Like if the zap guns just killed maybe 3 zombies at a time or had a super short spread then it would be perfect
IF you have juggernog you can survive without air for a little while longer. I was able to use the hacker device outside of air with jugg in a few locations.
with good spawns and patience you can get both pap and jug, first you need good zombie spawns at puddles or 3-4 zombies stacked at the sides. Then pile em up and shoot ur ammo, thrn nades. Pap , BUT , be very carefull cause the pistol do a lot of dmg and you cant easily get downed, AND take ur time with the dogs, they can easily down you and bug-move into ur way when ur traim. Also something that i missed, the firdt dogs that spawns have 1knife health and also the zombies,as soon they start to run, can get killed with 2 knifes stabs, so you can get 3-4 xtra kills after thr zombies will start to run, but again, be patient
the first time i saw it, i was playing it with a friend because i didnt own bos1, he absoluely did not tell me that there was a spacesuit, and he laughed at me while i was running out of air pretty cool map tho
Amazing video but I find it weird you do not touch upon QUD OR QED or whatever those throwables are, they adhere most to what you say and are their with randomness to break the rules established in zombies. Free perks perk drops anything it's what made it fun, or a crucial factor.
It's a cool map, but I feel like they really dropped the ball on the remaster when it comes to polish. It's easily the buggiest map out of them all. Crawlers especially love to get stuck in the air. There's also risk of instadown on some spots, which is unacceptable. Visually the remaster is a good alternate take on the original. (Though not necessarily better or worse in my opinion)
Fortunately, I haven’t personally encountered any game breaking glitches, but there are plenty of little details that bother me. Grenades are not affected by low gravity, you get round completion XP every time you go to Area 51, the space suits no longer have an intercom, and I don’t really like that you can only play as Richtofen in solo (I know he’s necessary for the quest, but I wish they found a workaround like in DE). Overall it’s nothing that ruins the map, but it does feel like a little more time could have gone into it.
Bro i love you so much you are great you are best you are the flawwless youtuber in the youtube please keep posting videos never end this its my nightmare to think you leaving the youtube
I like moon when it came out and bo3s the bo3 moon is so easy with almost every gobble gum is a huge advantige in no man's land and if u get fatal contraptions is and easy 5 mins of points
I’ve always really liked the astronaut. The idea of this one boss slowly making its way toward you from anywhere on the map is frightening. And when you don’t know where he is, every airlock becomes terrifying to go through.
If you play moon please don't break the glass, go to the teleport dont play fool and waste time, also split the god damn hacker there are plenty for all if you share it thanks
Imo Moon is a bo3 map, i loved the original but the chronicles version is perfect imo. I think the map was just "too advanced" for bo1 and bo3 gave the map really an opportunity to shine
One thing I like if you throw a gersh device at the astronaut and kill him next time when he spawns he either be dancing moving fast when me and sister were playing I tested to see if I can kill the astronaut with the gersh device it did not work so I killed him and next round I saw running at me and I screamed and told my sister and we were laughing and screaming at the same time
Moon sucks. Just a step towards irritating mechanics that plagued bo2. The windows that you can accidently break, random perks, no jug half the time, the astronaut taking a perk, the excavator, no oxygen, launch pads killing you, impossible to get past no mans land with randoms, cant go places without every player coming etc. Just ruined the map for any casual fun.
I'm just seeing this and I realize I'm a fucking idiot. I always wondered how the hell there was a decompression in the labs or spawn. I'm sitting here thinking. Treyarch is a team of assholes since you need those areas for space and for the hacker. And they'll jut take it away from you at random, completely unaware that I caused the decompression. Wow. Thanks man
The big thing I hate about moon is that it’s 100% designed for 4 players and it exists primarily for it’s Easter Egg. Most of the irritating things about it are a result of one of those two things. Having Jug potentially be out of reach for far more rounds than normal? Not a problem with a team, incredibly dangerous on solo. A 4,250 point cost just to reach power, let alone get where you actually need to be? Manageable with a team, incredibly painful when done solo. Door hacks taking 30 seconds? Completely feasible with support, virtually impossible without it. Moon is an incredibly cool map and a map that I’m trying to get really aquatinted with because of it. However the more I play, the more of these things I notice. I appreciate what it does and one day I hope to know it as well as I know Der Riese. Regardless good video friend. Also the wave gun/zap guns are better than the thundergun, fight me.
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. Moon is certainly an unforgiving map, but I've always thought that it was appropriate for the finale of Black Ops 1. Its unforgiving nature is also what makes it so enjoyable to break its rules. Despite being easier with friends, it can still be done in solo, and I encourage you to stick with it because it is such a unique experience. And we all know that the V-R11 is the best wonder weapon lol
I can appreciate everything the at moon adds to zombies but I just can't enjoy it. The whole excavator process just doesn't work for me and i hate how it slows the gameplay down.
Excavators and the astronaut zombie ruined this map. It is one of my least favourite maps. The astronaut is almost everytime behind a door and when u have to go hack an excavator, he will not only tp u to a random place and u won't be able to hack the excavator, he will also take one of your perks. Also pap on bo1 at the beginning requires a stupid amount of rng and skill. I don't know how could they make so bad a map that is on THE MOON, a lot of potential wasted.
Excavators can definitely be annoying, but I’ve always like the astronauts. It’s scary to know that they could be behind any door or around any corner, forcing you to slow down and pay attention to your surroundings.
Worst thing about moon is the players that think they are pro and don’t let the other players get to the moon and cause a game over because they think they’re better than they actually are effectively ruining the game for everyone else
I guess No Man’s Land is kind of like Pack-a-Punch on Shangri-La; it works great when everyone cooperates, but will fall apart if even one person goes rogue. But I think those occasional annoying moments are worth it for the unique experiences on the maps
