One of the most common complications of simple morphological analysis is that morphemes may have different shapes under different circumstances. This phenomenon is referred to as morphological alternation. This clip discusses the main types of "allomorphy" as well as the central conditioning principles on the basis of Present-Day English and other languages.

There's a minor terminological slip about Latin. The form laudavi should not be called present perfect in Latin even though the name in Latin was preteritum perfectum. This corresponds to the simple past in English because it denotes a single event in the past, whereas the English present perfect is exactly the opposite: its time is unspecified.
