The reasons why Elden Ring has been so successful are the complete opposite of what Tencent is doing in the market. If it's true this rumor I hope it fails big time.

Problem is Tencent will try to force Fromsoft to add microtransaction/loot boxes to their console/pc games. Tencent as a shareholder is going to want to make all the money possible.

I'm having a very difficult time imagining what a mobile Elden Ring would be - what it even could be while still deserving to be called Elden Ring.

The mobile game should be a card game like Gwent, using all the characters from the game. Providing more in depth lore attached to card descriptions. I might play that.

The leak being real has already done significant damage to Fromsfoftware. The masses have seen the leak and thought to themselves "The Elden Ring team now makes mobile game trash, guess they sold out and fell off". They won't look into it any deeper. Great job all around

It actually hit my 3rd play through just how insane this map is. I know it was great but after you play it a few times you digest it on a larger scale. This game is an absolute masterpiece. I cant wait for the dlc.

I'm a bit curious what "expanding LTV" exactly means. I doubt that a mobile game is the only thing they have in mind for this. But that at this point is also no season pass available to buy, could indicate that Shadow of the Erdtree is for now the only planned DLC. Maybe they switch straight to ER 2 after the DLC?

Really not sure how you could monetize elden ring other than locking specific weapons, ashes, spells, armor, etc. but the way you find those is through item discovery or beating bosses so I feel like that would be super intrusive if you got a pop up saying you had to purchase the item you just found

If there is are transactions to pick up drops..that’s like below bottom of the barrel scraping dirt type shit and you know they are thinking about that.

The first half of the DLC will have Miquella task us with finding the root of deathblight and defeating Godwyn in the other plane of existence....... In the end, Miquella betrays us, revealing his true nature and form. It will most likely resemble the Eclipse scene from berserk where fempto is born. Second half of dlc will be dealing with him. This is what I expect.

I just was informed the dlc will be about past and present it's basically two dlcs in one so one referring to miqualla will be about the past and how he got the haligtree the tree in the dlc art is the haligtree before miqualla took over it and in game you can tell two the haligtree is two trees one is broken off basically the black tree part in the dlc art and the other part will be about godwyn

This really is getting to the point where it is taking too long and people will genuinely start to move on from their hype. If there isn't some sort of trailer AT LEAST this month with a clear, close release date then I really don't know what they're doing. Hype is a fine line, it CAN be lost with time and I really feel like they're about to find the line. Especially with the literal no information and still no trailer. Lots of big franchises have failed in this exact same way, waiting WAY too long to continue that people just lose interest. This happened with a few TV shows I can think of, usually animated ones. I still feel the gap between season 2/3 of Rick and Morty was what killed the show in the first place, the insane wait for the second season of Attack on Titan took it from a world phenomenon to just another anime, same thing with One Punch Man. They really need to get this thing out and fast. There is no way they haven't lost potential sales by taking this long and every single day just adds to the list of people who don't care and will move on to something else.

Well we all remember Slashy Souls durring the Dark Souls era. I can definetly see, and be open to the concept of an Elden Ring mobile game if it was more a companion piece then just a mobile port of Elden Ring with micro transaction. Say we get a turn based role playing game where you can amass an army during The Shattering, unlocking legendary heroes. That sounds pretty cool! A palette cleanser to the game style rather than a bastardization that robs the original of its dignity.

you're pretty much the only channel i go to for Elden Ring updates. Concise, straight to the point, and a great intro of simply "what's going on guys" instead of "ITSSSS YAAAA BOYYYYY". Keep up the awesome work!

For everybody that is concerned over Tencent’s involvement in FromSoft there may be a direct analogue that already exists with Cygames and Granblue Fantasy. Granblue Fantasy is a mobile gacha game with all of the same mechanics as Genshin. Cygames decided that they wanted to “branch out” into other markets so they decided to make a fighting game, and an action RPG game. Both of those games, are just stand alone games, you pay for them up front, and there are no gacha mechanics at all. The fighting game has paid DLC and a battle pass, which has become standard for most fighting games now (there is a debate for whether that is a good thing or not, but the point that I’m making here is that it’s standard for the genre), and the ARPG is just 100% a stand alone game with 18 playable characters and probably 100-200 hours of content depending on how much you like the progression system/ end game content. The point that I’m making, even though this is a completely different company, and they were making genre-games based off of their OWN IP, they still had the sense not to mess with things by putting gacha and micro-transactions into their fighting game/ action game. Imagine taking on another IP, that you didn’t develop, and oh yeah it’s probably the most wildly successful brand new IP of the past, what 10 years? And double ‘oh yeah’ the entire culture of that fan base is built upon the antithesis of your entire business model. I know that the mobile game will be a gacha, and it will have micro-transactions, but I seriously believe that EVERYBODY involved, even Tencent, knows to keep the mainline, console games as far away from anything gacha related as possible. This mobile game would have to be a wild run away success that nobody could possibly have predicted, for this to start bleeding over into mainline games.

Any exposure is good for Elden. as long as they don’t compromise the main game and pvp. We definitely need new ash of wars and weapons. Sponsored tournaments for the hardcore base. We also need better servers cuss I keep encountering the same players in pvp lol.

Tencent will probably never have any say directly in what FromSoftware makes. They only own 16% in the company anyway. Now whatever Tencent does by licensing From’s IPs is something we can all collectively laugh at and ignore.

I’m in no hurry for the Dlc’ cause the moment it drops well there gos my life once again. Over 1000 hours in base game I can just imagine adding dlc!

Probably the best idea for an Elden Ring mobile game would be if they managed to make the combat system work with touch controls, and then just sort of made it a boss fight gauntlet type game. With heavy monetization, they'd probably make you pay for weapons, spells, talismans, etc as well as cosmetic items, so that would suck. But if it's all about unlocking and buying different builds to try and beat boss fights in the most effective ways, then that would be a lot better than an actual action RPG where the monetization would block your progression.
