Trevor: I'm Teferi's Protectioning out of here. You guys are screwed. Frank countering it instead of the Cyc Rift: we're screwed comrade.

I'd rather say he countered that card than a avenger of zendikar everyone knew matt was holding..

This is a very minor thing which mattered not at all, but Matt should have been getting two +1/+1 counters on his plants from each of his creatures/lands entering! (The combination of Ashaya and Ancient Greenwarden is pretty gnarly)

Can this just be a mini PSA about keeping one's mana rocks separate from their lands on the board? I see it a BUNCH in all the content that I watch and this mix up happens frequently! I can't really say that it ruins my viewing experiences though, thanks for the games yet again!
@qwormuli77
@qwormuli77 2 года назад
Mixing any other permanents among lands is often a totally innocent move, but I can't but feel it as sleazy due to how easily and often it's abused to hide blockers, permanents and such on your board. "Oh no, this Dryad Arbor being hidden between three forests had not other intentions, haha!" "Oops, I guess I didn't notice to remove this wiped permanent!" "Does it look like I have artifacts on my board?"

I would have probably countered the Cyclonic Rift, therefore causing Trevor to waste the Protection. I get wanting to keep Trevor off of all that mana, but I think that play would have gotten more favor from the table, therefore allowing Frank to use Tasigur's ability to get back anything that would help them deal with whatever Trevor had coming next.
@qwormuli77
@qwormuli77 2 года назад
But that wouldn't have gotten rid of the threats on Trevor's board.

At 7:53 Matt couldn't cast beast within to hit the selkie. He tapped his gaea's cradle which couldn't produce green since he had no creatures. All good things happen just for future reference :D

I've had too many games when someone stopped the second place player from saving themselves and the player in the lead stomps the next turn. I get threat evaluation and keeping 2 people from taking advantage of a cyc rift but giving the game to one person seems to be the frequent result

I think these boys needed to talk power level, cause that Azusa should have been treated with all the same fear and respect as the elesh norn deck. Green has more effective tutors at this point than black and it's ridiculous.
@gdiridium5525
@gdiridium5525 2 года назад
idk about power level, more threat assessment. allowing azusa to stick around more than a turn was a mistake, as was keeping Horn on the table. It's tempting to leave it as it draws you cards, but you have to remember is that it draws Azusa 3 cards a turn whereas it only draws you 1

trevor could of cast Protection in response to the tutor from the green player it would gave saved him and before people say it was countered yes it was but by thought seize he drew it on his turn so he still had it that's why the green player tutored for that green legendary creature
@greatbrandini3967
@greatbrandini3967 2 года назад
Trevor would've needed to expect that he wouldn't be able to cast TP before the tutor resolved. That's a very minor nit pick that probably wouldn't have done much more than give him 1 more turn

Great game as usual! Although it felt like Frank was catching a lot of heat throughout the game. I’m assuming the table knows his deck and what it can do? Not to dissuade from the fact that tasigur is a dangerous commander to see at a table.

Matt had just gotten Dosan the Falling Leaf on board, so Trevor couldn’t have cast Teferi’s Protection since it was Matt’s turn. Trevor would have had to respond to the Dosan cast with Teferi’s before it hit the battlefield.

it's BS that finale of glory doesn't make Knight tokens. 2/2 white vigilance tokens are knights. But that card was made to make soldiers or citizens or somethjng for some reason.

Harry could've kicked that rite of replication then dropped the land for a whopping amount of tokens with +5+5 each. Not to mention 25 P/T from the avengers theirselves.

Wow, who'd have thought that a green ramp deck would play a Finale of Devastation and /or a Craterhoof. Finale of Devastation I can put up with but Craterhoof is such a gross card. My LGS has basically banned it because unanswered, it just wins games, even with people having massive life totals, and it requires no skill to play. Chances are, people are going to burn out counterspells and bounce cards prior to Craterhoof hitting the board, so he usually isn't countered. I honestly don't know of a single player that likes this card other than newbies that just see his power and ooh and ahh, but they soon learn to hate it when it's used against them. Yes, seeing mono green you should expect this card and save a counterspells, but not everyone does, not everyone hits a counterspells from their deck, and sometimes other threats hit early that require an early counterspells first. I've also seen two mill decks compete against each other, milling each other's Craterhoof answers away, while I unfortunately didn't get a counterspells draw, just to see Craterhoof hit the board and wipe us all. Anyone's fault really? Kinda not, but that's just it, Craterhoof only needs the one opening to destroy everything. Am I saying don't play it? No, everyone has preferences, but it's a feel bad loss and truthfully, a feel bad win card that I choose not to play. But...... to each their own.
@The808andrew808

I just don’t understand why your LGS would ban a format legal card? But that’s not the point here.

A lot of the cheaper Craterhoof alternatives usually does the trick too. In this situation if he grabbed an End-Raze Forerunners or Kamahl, Heart of Krosa the result is usually the same. People just dont like a sudden game ender but paying 7+ mana should usually be a card that helps win the game soon.
@christopherspeck1287
@christopherspeck1287 2 года назад
Cry harder. It’s stuff like this which despite not being right is what causes the “ultra casual” side of EDH to be clowned on. If you’re hard-casting a 10+ mana spell in Finale Of Devastation or 8 mana minimum for Craterhoof naturally no matter the method, then the game deserves to be ended. If it were on the power level of say Thassa’s Oracle + any of the “Forbidden Tutors” then most would completely understand the ire and disheartened sentiment but crying about a hard-cast 8+ mana game ending spell? That’s really lame.
