Morning Meetings: A Daily Strategy for Teaching Social and Emotional Learning to 1st Grade Students 

First Grade Demonstration Teacher Denise Balderrama demonstrates how she addresses her SEL (social, and emotional learning) on a daily basis every morning with her first grade students. Watch how she greets students at her door by giving them a choice of greeting and then as she starts her morning meetings with an emotional check-in followed by a message. Through this strategy, all five SEL Core Competencies are addressed within the first 5-10 minutes of her daily routine.
