Some people can look radically different with different cosmetics (Shao Kahn is one). But yeah, mostly the skins are what radically changes the looks, and cosmetics tend to be more interesting with one skin or another.

When waiting for my brekkie bowl without *FUCKING* green onion took too long at Ricky's I used my butter knife to deftly get the entire single serve portion of peanut butter out of it's container in one go, and eat it while giving my waitress puppy dog eyes. I don't mind world building and an intricate plot but only when you don't reboot the fucking thing over and over and over again as it makes events time wasting and worthless to get invested in.

@@TheNexDude This was only the second reboot......and technically MK 9 was not a reboot.....it was a continuation of the storyline.....events that happened after Armageddon. Also, fighting games have ALWAYS had stories.

Yes. Howeve Yahtzee could also easily add a new soundclip/joke to the existing footage for whenever he uploads a new episode of "Zero Punctuation", creating a new ad each time. He's clearly a very skilled video creator and editor, he could easily slap a new joke onto the ad each time if he wanted to. Like if it's his own novel he's trying to sell, I don't know why he wouldn't pull out all the stops in order to promote it and sell copies

Eh, it was dying with MK9. Raiden goes back to MK1 and yet suddenly Sub-Zero is working for Shang-Tsung rather than trying to kill him and Cyrax and Sektor are there too despite not showing up until later games and Ermac is one of the final bosses even though again, he wasn't in MK 1so even before Raiden starts changing things, there are already differences in the universe. Hell, Mileena already existed before the first tournament, she was actually raised alongside Kitana in the old games yet suddenly she is a newly created monster, even though Raiden couldn't have possibly altered that since he only starts messing with time during the 2nd tournament. While I am sure the old games had their own continuity issues, MK9 just completely ignores everything to make its own story even though its supposed to be going back to MK1-3 so most things should be similar to those stories with the only differences being things Raiden directly change.

What's wrong with DLC? There's no way Sheeva was already complete and cut from the game, they worked on the game till the last second and had a patch day one. Cyrax and Sektor weren't cut because their moves were just copy/pasted from MKX. If they would'v put them in the game in that form people would have called NRS out for lazily copy/pasting the moves. Nothing wrong with story mode cameos that will be future DLC imo. It puts more characters in the story and gives the DLC characters more to do rather than just being DLC with no involvement in the story at all.

@@GADG3Tx87 You know why characters weren't locked behind a paywall in 1998? Because they couldn't be added later. Anything different or new had to be saved for a sequel/expansion. If MK11 did what they did back then this would be it. It would have released and that would be the end of it until MK12. Instead we have a few characters to be added later and as all things that require work cost money they charge for it.

@@GADG3Tx87 You're being disingenuous. Sheeva doesn't have a moveset, she's nowhere near being done. Finishing her moveset, intros, fatalities, brutalities, arcade ending and then putting her in the game is something fans would want. Delaying the game even longer just to fit ALL the DLC characters in would suck. The delay would have to be, at least, 6 months. NRS did nothing wrong with DLC and by the way your "remember the 90's?" example doesn't work at all. Studios couldn't make DLC, you're right there, but instead they RESOLD an entire game with added characters. Ultimate MK3? MK4 Gold? And other series like Street Fighter did it all the time. DLC is MILES better than that.

@@SurprisinglyDeep Yea, you're a little right, but its kinda a bit of both. In Hull at least we have a very strong local market so we do tend towards Author events when we can - but having strong shoppable sections is a very big part of the store as well.

I will say that characters like Cassie and Sonya can sometimes have a weird uncanny valley look to their faces, but everyone else has god-like facial animation like you said.

Well considering Sonya's face is based on an mma fighters and si her daughter would follow along those lines...yeah but you can shove a mask on almost everyone so its not like it matters

I think he's more making fun of the idea that fighting games in general are becoming stale due to the consensus that a game has to have a complex combo system in order to be considered a "real" fighting game by the FGC.

If I had to make a guess, it would be that the graphic violence and showing more skin probably don't mesh well. Especially with the lifelike models. MKX females also had a more conservatively dressed design motif as well.

The part that ticks me off is the fact that they claim that they changed the bikini ninja looks because they were impractical for a fight, ok, fair enough, but then they give a couple of the females heels to fight in, I'm just like for real?! Honestly I think heels are just as if not more impractical than the bikinis. They shot their own argument in the foot and that upsets me more than the changes made to the female costumes.
