Hmmm "Talyasi" pala tawag sa ganun.🤔 Ngayon ko lng nalaman in my 44 yrs of existence😂 Wow, thanks for the info on Thai resto origins in the US. Good for them their government gave initiatives to further expose their culture and food to American taste buds. Good move from their government, wished our's did too.
South Koreans & Chinese are doing the same thing here in the Philadelphia region ....from a very reliable source...private funding though through their community groups! Hoping Filipinos would work the same way!
@@villamorbrown5483 Yeah I wished so too. It's an excellent way of promoting culture through food and it's effect on other's palates. Kinda too late now to be honest, coz Filipino food is slowly goin' mainstream, slowly bit by bit.
When thinking about Pinoy comfort foods, there’s nothing more comforting than having a plate of Tapsilog and a warm, scrumptious and hearty bowl of Lomi, these surely satiate cravings as any comfort food can. Whether it’s for everyday meals or as an occasional snack, this Lomi savory noodle soup topped with delectable meat and vegetables has undeniably etched its place in Filipino cuisine and culture. In fact, many food enthusiasts consider Lomi as the most well-loved noodle dish in Lipa, Batangas. Maraming salamat, Kurt for sharing your carinderia food adventures, we really enjoyed watching your vlogs. Your avid viewers from Illinois, Josephine & Jocelyn
Tapsilog was just a copy of Malaysia's national dish. Nasi Lemak. Malaysia had that for centuries. Philippined just made tapsilog for the urban poor of big cities? Tapsilog eaten for lunch or dinner is just sad.
@@eduardochavacano Filipino cuisine is indeed a fusion of indigenous flavors, Spanish influences from colonization, and influences from Chinese, Malay, and all other Asian cuisines that created a distinct Filipino identity marked by adaptability. Take for instance, Filipino Pancit Canton is a version of Chow Mein and Lo Mein in China. In Puerto Rico and in Spain, they have Lechon too, the same name and same preparation. Lechon is also a version of Leitão in Portugal. However, Adobo definitely originated in the Philippines. Filipino natives invented it, but a Spanish Friar Pedro de San Buenaventura gave its name in 1613. Mexico and Spain has Adobo dish too, the same name but different recipe as well as Portugal, which they call it Carne de vinha d’alos. The Spanish adobo sauce is distinctly spiced and fiery, with at least three kinds of chili peppers, tomato paste, and cinnamon among its ingredients while the Mexican rendition uses lemon juice, cumin, and Mexican oregano. And by the way, there’s nothing wrong about eating Tapsilog for every meal of the week. It’s hearty enough for a family dinner, exciting enough for a weekend brunch, and can be scaled down for a simple afternoon meal, for those times when you forget to eat until noon. It’s sure to fill you up fast.
@@eduardochavacano Nasi lemak is different from tapsilog because it is cooked with coconut milk and paired with fried anchovies, peanuts, boiled eggs, cucumber slices, and sambal. The flavor profiles of nasi lemak and tapsilog are quite different. Tapsilog is more flavorful and satisfying due to its preparation and added protein. While I also enjoy nasi lemak, tapsilog is my go-to dish.
You are one lucky guy because you are in the right place. Filipinos are so engaging and very nice to foreigners . They always find time to help even when they're so busy. Filipinos are always willing to help.
Thank you for featuring local karenderya. More importantly, I appreciate that you respect the Filipino culture and I applaud you for m as making the effort to try to learn Tagalog so you can communicate in the language of the country you're in. More power to you, Kurt. 👍👍
Kuya K your videos are entertaining sana lumaki pa yung channel nyo. Tapsilog is short for Tapas- Sinangag-Itlog. Your Tagalog is getting better just speak slower, masyado pong mabilis minsan at hindi maliwanag ang ibig nyong sabihin. Just a friendly advice 😄
Authentic tapsilog in d province - beef tapa taste is a bit salty & not sweetened, na mas masarap lasa kung hindi matamis ang beef or pork tapa😃 Beef tapa now here in manila tastes are sweetened which is bad for those diabetic oldies like me😢 same thing with longanisas are marinated with sugary taste also. Cooks now love to cook by adding more sugar sa dishes nila😢hope pag oldies na sila ay hindi sila magkaron ng sakit na diabetes😅goodluck😂
Sana all safety first: Ang laki ng kawali, at ang dingding plywood kong di ako nagkamali malapit sa apoy, na sana suggest lang kong maari tabunan ng metal o bricks ng maiwasan ang sakuna.Mabuhay!
so glad local food places get the exposure they so deserve; and that is because of vloggers like you. Thank you very much, this is very kind of you! We appreciate what you're doing.
Am glad you are enjoying your best breakfast ever, Kurt. And your lomi too. That is what makes Filipinos enjoy life with good and simple food. As a Filipino livjng in Canada, i really missed going to places where they serve the most delicious food. Hope to go hime soon.
You could also try immersing yourself with typical Filipino jobs like, taho vendor, tricycle driver, cook, boat driver, fisherman etc. That's gonna be so cool
I don’t think it’s specifically your weight that’s why you’re sweating all the time in the Philippines. I went back home a month ago and I was sweating bullets!! Standing or sitting still, walking or 2 seconds after a cold shower, laying down you name it! It takes awhile for our bodies to acclimate to the hot and humid weather especially coming from the US. On a side note, please go to Malabon city on your next trip! Very underrated place and not really featured yet on RU-vid. Aling Mely’s restaurant is a real start from nothing and she’s 80+ yrs old and still there everyday! If you’re there in January, I would gladly take you around! 👍🏼
Kuya Kurt, love watching you! Suggest ko lang, try mo next time if you’re doing Silog content, yung Longganisa Silog (Longsilog). Different parts of the PH has their own version of Longganisa. There’s a lot of history and culture in that one item. So even if you keep doing Silog restos, you’ll have variety 🙂
Nice to see you get emotional over the tapsilog at Emily in Pares. And, it's nice that you've tried the Lomi Batangas in Amadeo, Cavite. I like it that you ask the local how to eat the food, and initially do the preparations that need to be initiated before digging in. I suggest you ask the names of the viands (mga ulam) already displayed, to familiarize your viewers on different Filipino food. You might want to try those you haven't tried yet. Just one at a time maybe? Although I know tapsilog is your favorite. Stay healthy Kurt. Peace.
The texture is similar to a beef jerky. Masarap talaga kumain ng tapsilog. It's an explosion of flavour in your mouth.
That's really you i saw! My husband and i were having our morning walk and i saw u! If i only knew you back then, i could have said hello, goodness! I just subscribed to your channel and watch your vids 2 days ago!
Hi kuya kurt.. just so you know, the phrase the lady said "bakit? hindi ba halata?" literally translate to - Why? Isn't it obvious?.. to us Filipinos, that a bit damning, insulting to a point. Mejo pagka mayabang si ate.. in the hospitality business like "karinderia" you should always be respectful. in that phrase, she just excelled herself as the owner of the place, in the most unfortable way.. i like the fact that you still gave a good review of the place in spite of the fact! and what makes it worst is she said "nevermind" when you asked her ehat she meant by it!. A respectful person always tries to explain what they meant if what they said is misunderstood!
You need to stay with a Filipino family for a couple of days and show your viewers how life is living with them. I would love to show this to my American husband! Thank you Kuya Kurt!
If you're still in the Philippines, you should get a card made that has all your social media info on it. It's like a calling card back in the days. I saw one YTuber that did this and it helped him because people tend to forget after you tell them your channel, not unless they write it down. And it's cheap to get those cards made there as oppose to the U.S., just ask the locals where to go. You can just bring a dozen each time you go out and pass them out to those interested or to whoever you talk to out in the streets. They'll be able to spread the word about your channel because people need to see your channel because your content is very unique. And maybe they can post your card on their wall for people to see and check out. Hope this helps
I read somewhere that tapsilog was started by the American soldiers in Philippines after WW2. They would order the combination of beef tapa, sinangag (fried rice), and itlog (fried egg) hence, Tapsilog.
Amadeo!!! Coffee capital of Ph yan slogan nila dyan.
Thanks, Kuya Kurt.
There are two version of tapa in the Philippines the other one is dry tapa sun dry for a couple of days.. much more like a beef kerky but it tough if you fry it but pack with flavors
Hi Kurt, I watched one of your Short clips about Flores de Mayo. The woman did not know the meaning of the phrase when you asked. The festival is a celebration of the flowers in the month of Mayo.😁
I can see in the background Lolo Claro's restaurant. Try mo yan. Classic Cavite restaurant that started in Maragondon. Meron din sa Naic. Amadeo is newest.
Sinangag, also called garlic fried rice or garlic rice, is a Filipino fried rice dish cooked by stir-frying pre-cooked rice with garlic. Itlog means ‘egg’ Tocino is pork belly tocsilog is the best breakfast for Filipinos.
