Because of that, the victim is pretty much required to be assaulted for them to intervene. Idk how it is with American laws but Sweet Anita's case was UK based.

I've been hit with pepper spray. Not directly. Someone else was being an ass hole to a woman and she pepper sprayed him and I was just too close. Didn't get a full burst of it and glad I didn't. What little I got was bad enough. The woman was actually really sympathetic to me afterwards. She carried me to the clinic and got me sorted. Police got involved and I ended up being a witness to defend the woman for her actions against the ass hole that was tormenting her

Most people, if they see something like this happening, have no idea how to react and don't intervene. It may be difficult, but it's good to say something if you see someone being harassed like this.
He wasn’t just verbally harassing them (which is also very bad), he was getting in their space which is very threatening. The girl was acting in self defense and was being very reasonable to try to get him away from her and her friends.
There's also the fact that he was way too fast with the pepper spray. If he didn't already have it in his hand before the woman tried to force him to leave, I don't think he could have fired it off immediately like that

Some men are willfully oblivious to the signs that a woman is uncomfortable or feels threatened. Being persistent is not charming. If a woman says no, take the L and dip. The horrifying thing is the people who get aggressive when they're denied. They don't take "no" for and answer and if they get hit with the "no" they get very, _very_ aggressive. My country has very high femicide rates _for this very reason._ I always feel like people like this has the potential to be the next killer. I accidentally sprayed a little pepper spray in the air next to me when changing the cartridge in my partner's spray gun (same effect really, just makes it easier to aim) and my eyes smidged for like an hour. It probably is horrible to receive the full dose properly in the face. It's worse than it looks.

It was so scary just watching it that I got emotional. Brought me right back to the times I’ve been followed at night, trembling and thinking “this is it, im going to be raped or killed” while I get out my pepper spray and knife, then look for a corner that I can turn around and start sprinting at. Genuinely terrifying and I hate this person so much. You just know those women are thinking they’re about to be raped or killed. I can't believe it has been 25 years now, but I remember witnessing something very similar to this one at the San Francisco CalTrain station. This video actually brought back the memory. This older Chinese guy wouldn't leave this one girl alone. She was clearly trying to run away from him. He kept laughing and trying to grab her arm asking her how old she was. I noticed no one was doing anything, much like a couple of male bystanders in the garage in this video. It pissed me off so much, I ended up walking up to him myself, and hitting him in the arm really hard and saying "WTF is your problem", which scared him. Then I started yelling, at him, which started attracting attention, and the guy started walking away as fast as he could. The girl he was bothering got on a bus, so I continued on, got my bus and went home. I didn't know what I was more horrified by. The actions of that creep, or that hundreds of people, and no one else said anything. I thought that was bad at the time, and it was. But what I saw in this video from this dude was far worse. He was so disgusting that I pray -- and I don't even believe in prayer -- but I do PRAY that he gets the death penalty.

there was a case for a guy like johny here, a man was harrasing a group of girls and they where the ages 16 17 17 and 18 and was saying these lines. the man who was harrasing them decided to throw his boot at her head after she told him he needed to leave. one the man threw the boot at the girls head another older man stepped out of his truck and shot the man who was harassing the girls. he was shot 3 times the moment it happened. this was in Atlanta i think the article said.
