@@mikehunt6160 well if it's not so common, then why do we have all the videos out here these days? And have you been to a concert lately? You almost can't see the stage because of all the cameras up in the air.
excellent point, my wife was just watching clips of beyonce concerts where beyonce shouts ""mute" and everyone is supposed to get quiet. at a concert first off, but aside from that. barely anyone got quiet and my wife is saying come on people, you're supposed to get quiet. i said, they are too busy making videos and not even paying attention to the show
Using the gym to create content seems to be more of a priority than actually working out for this woman. If you're wanting to be an influencer, at least provide some value. Don't do what this woman did.
@@seesidesummerhouse6112 I think it was Andy Warhol who said "in the future everyone will be famous for 15 minutes". This is what that looks like. No one wants to work hard and develop a skill or do a job that benefits society in obscurity. As far as gen z is concerned, if it's something that won't make you famous it's not worth doing. I don't know where this generation was failed but boy is that failure monumental.
@@cleancountershot3941 Actually you do depending on the state. You better check your laws. You may be exposing yourself to legal Action. Also, A lot of private places, like Jim's, have policies against filming entirely that you agree to when using the establishment. Filming in Privately owned establishments is not a protected right
Thank you. I've said it before, but I'll say it again: Gyms need to draw a hard line. Gyms aren't your personal recording studio, nor a gd catwalk. Not to mention it's a privacy issue for everyone else who didn't sign your consent form to possibly be filmed, which you as a customer are not entitled to do.
@@nickhearn7288 Disneyland is private property that you have to pay a fee to enter. There's a clue in the name that it belongs to the Disney corporation. If it was public it would be called public land and be free to enter.

Not to mention this guy actually acted like a real human being and confronted her. Unlike her, who lacks any spine and instead passive aggressively posts it to her "followers" to proceed to talk shit instead.
What? The guy is courageous for confronting a woman? And women are now cowards for not confronting guys who are bigger and stronger than them? Anyway, she served in the Army, so I don't think you can call her spineless in any event.
@@gwine9087 no one should have their camera out in the locker room. Many obvious reasons there including that there may be minors present in a state of undress or the guy who didnt like it and is now waiting in the parking lot for you.
I had once met a woman in the gym who was filming herself, but she went to everyone who could possible be in the video and asked for permisson. She put the phone so, that no one other than herself would be filmed. And everyone tried to avoid her spot. She was done in 10 minutes and it was fine. So, if you really have to film it, then at least ask the people around you before doing it. (and it was in the morning, where almost no one was around)
Honestly, I feel like years ago people who recorded themselves at the gym did it with good intentions, like showing progress or how to exercise with proper form. But like always these so called “influencers” came along and ruined it for the rest to feed their egos and seek internet attention.
What just like you filming. Because that’s all she’s doing is filming. Just like you. So are you, you calling yourself an attention seeker, and how how would you you like it if other people called you an attention seeker. You wouldn’t like it. Would you. Course flippin not
Spicy I’m going to be honest/up right to you. I mis-read your first bit. Hands up to me, my mistake. Hands you to. Me. I read it as, you were recording yourself at the gym years ago. My mistake, hands up to my mistake, slap on the wrist to me. For that. At end did put seek internet attention. A person filming, filming at the end of the day. A person, doing nothing wrong. People often film. In the street, at a sports event, concert, at a beech, walking, etc. Think it’s wrong, wrong and more wrong to have ago at someone for just filming. Scooping that so low, (putting it on RU-vid) JUST to have ago at people for filming. Slagging them off, Especially when they wouldn’t like it done to themselves.
Once I was approached by a kid that had the nerve to ask me if I could move because he was gonna make a video lol I told him I will once I’m done and I did another 3 sets on purpose .
I would have had a hard time not telling them to go fuck themselves. Your way worked too, because if you told him what I wanted to tell him, he could act like a victim.
nice. i’m a youth too & i also post on social media often, but i myself don’t understand those that are obsessed with filming & having ‘perfect’ empty backgrounds. too bad, you’re in public & there’s gonna be people around. i can’t believe people have the gall to ask others to move just for them to have their ‘perfect’ shot. if you don’t like it, film at home or get a private space to do it. edit: i forgot to add that it’s everyone’s right to be in a public space such as a gym. these entitled ‘influencers’ are really…entitled?
She so indignant about the fact that he came in after her and wanted her to stop filming. It didn't occur to her that like half the gym is in the background. It's not like he can just avoid being in the video, and if he tried, guess what? Now he has to watch her like a hawk to make sure she doesn't move or change angles. That gives her the excuse to accuse him of staring and being a creep. It's a lose/lose situation for him, and she's incredibly selfish to not at least empathize in the slightest.
This is why I don’t work out in gym. I have an injured back and I’m afraid someone will record me bc I look funny doing workouts so simple like they’re difficult. They are bc it hurts and I don’t want that recorded.
And clearly it’s a thing that people are out here using these recordings to sit there and judge or make fun of people, I’m not a soft person so I can take it, doesn’t mean I should have to, I have a slipped disk and ya sometimes I look funny working out so I feel you.
It surprises me that adults still bully each other using social media like that, what freaks. I feel you though, I don’t like getting filmed without my consent at all, but younger people don’t care 🤷🏻♀️
Don’t let these kinds of people discourage you. Let them judge all they want. At the end of the day you’re exercising for yourself and better well being not for anyone else.
If you'd rather sacrifice your health for fear, that's your choice. I myself have problems after a spinal injury, and yet I go to the gym and train as much as I can Remember you're doing this for yourself, be selfish or be nothing
It’s soooo easy to blur other people if you accidently do capture someone in a progression or form shot so completely unnecessary to be posting other people.
I don't think that would solve anything, just gives a pass for these people while the majority who want no part of it are now stuck getting recorded still.
Comfort aside, he's probably aware of this unsavory, extremely petty trend swirling around the current social media toilet. Props to him for shutting it down.
It's an asshole move, but unfortunately, not illegal-- now, he might have a good argument to go to the gym management showing he asked her not to film him and she put him up on her social media and name-called him out of spite and for content.
you probably wont. Also, look around maybe you can find a gym with a policy against filming. If youre a begginer I would suggest going to places that are smaller and ugly with less and older equipment like at a community center or something a long those lines. Popular branded mega gyms with all the extra trimmings and flashiness is where most of these people congregate and treat it like a fashion show. The number one thing I would reccomend if you have the means for it is a home gym. A squat rack and a bench are probably the most important peices of equipment in a gym anyways. From there you can keep adding weights, get some adjustable dumbells, some bands... Any music you want. No one to see you fail or fuck up(caution: no one to save you if shit goes sideways). No waiting for equipment. No travelling to/from the gym. No weird/akward eye contact. If you make good use of that stuff by the time you get bored of it and want the special stuff the gym has you will probably be in the best shape of your life and have a new confidence to go. If you still dont want to go, you will still have everything you need at home to build a nice body. I honestly hate the gym myself and will do shit like go at 4AM and have like the entire GoodLife Fitness to myself. Once I move to a new place I plan on spending the money to get my own set up again. Its worth the money if you factor in the cost of gym membership over time, time spent commuting back and forth, and time lost waiting to start your fitness journey. If you end up quitting, just sell the stuff or keep it for when you try again. Cheaper than having a gym membership that you dont use but cant get around to cancelling. Anyways, hope any of that helps. good luck hope you find what youre looking for! Dont let the bullies win. Theyre the real cowards.
I just got a gym membership for the first time in years (haven't been for this exact reason and a few others), and one of the first questions I asked was their filming policy. The guy told me that they 100% do not allow it, and in locker rooms would result in an automatic removal from the property
As an avid lifter and gym goer-I feel so relieved when I see no tripods setup or guys/girls recording each other. Social media has seeped into gyms over the years and now we are seeing and reaping the repercussions…bottom line, 99.9% of gym goers do not want to be filmed.
Im cancelling my membership and getting a Pelaton. I don't want to take the chance of being in someones video. There are to many narcissitic people out there these days that seem to think everyone want to know what they are doing. Not me. If I post on social media its pictures of my dogs.
Preach on brother 👍 I go to EOS & there's phones snapping and recording in the bathroom too even in front of the employees, meaning I will never trust having privacy in there either. The 1st gym that actually enforces their rules and bans recording altogether is going to get a lot of business IMHO.
His Fear was Founded, He ended up on Tic-Tok / RU-vid anyway. He was probably worried she would call him "CREEP" but worst she called him a "KAREN" he was right to be pissed I would be too.
The one time I filmed myself the gym was empty and I just wanted to see if my squat form was ok. But having a camera pointed at about 20 pieces of equipment and being mad when someone is in your shot or someone doesn't want to be, is ridiculous.
Thank you for standing up against this. People who are starting out on their work out journey are already self conscious about working out in front of others. A gym should be a no-personal-camera zone.
My boy did nothing wrong! Ima start trolling by standing in front of the camera and block the camera view to see if they like that. There's no need to film other people just to embarrass them.
@@Filthy_Larry I hope more people will do this in the future to shame these people fake influencers. Enough is enough with all of these body shaming and creepy guy videos. Idk why this trend became a thing over the years. Not cool at all. I'm glad Joey is out here doing the right thing. They need to mind their own business!
It's fascinating to see free weight areas in gyms go from a place where women felt like they weren't wanted and it was hostile to them-- now to some women feeling like they are entitled to use the entire gym as their own private stage for their little Insta fitness show.
"He could've brought it to my attention without *harrasing* me and being rude" *"Harrasing?"* Geezus that word has lost all its meaning because of people like her tossing it everywhere for no good reason
This is the exact reason I quit the gym. I had an alteration with a woman as she was filming her work and I didn't feel comfortable with it directly towards me. She then got some blokes involved to cause a stir saying I was being harassing and aggressive etc which I really wasn't. I just stated I was uncomfortable being filmed without my permission as I'm new in the gym and camera shy. I left and thought I'd start fresh the next day, she was there again and the 2 blokes from before, and they was basically following me around the gym just trying to be in my way on purpose, so I just didn't go back. And when I pointed it out to gym staff they said, well unless they attack you in the gym we can't do anything about it.
I’m glad there are some “confrontational” people out there like this man. I’ve been considering getting a gym membership but if I saw I was recorded in someone else’s video, I’d prob just cancel my membership out of discomfort.
Why though? There are people who would absolutely stop their recordings for others, if asked respectfully. Me recording myself in public is legal and well within my rights. You ASKING me to stop is well within your rights as well. Demanding or TELLING another adult to stop what they’re doing when they haven’t touched you or even addressed you is not. The gym is literally recording you from the moment you step foot inside the facility 😅
@@stitch626ich I have bad anxiety. Making eye contact with someone I don’t know is hard enough. Asking someone to pause recording would be way too far out of my comfort zone lol
@@its_me-nikki fair enough lol I can relate slightly but I’m not necessarily referring to you in particular I’m more so saying in general that people wanting other people to address these types of situations in a mean and aggressive manner when they could literally just ask nicely and more than likely get a better response is wild to me lol
NajB fit, a French youtuber, juste did a vidéo about you. Thank you for exposing the bad behaviours taking place at the gym. And also for highlighting the good stuff !
I could've sworn that the whole point of going to the gym was to actually WORK OUT! I must've been mistaken cuz apparently the gym is for film students and their projects.
For some, Its also to dress up in make up and spandex. These the same chicks in highschool that would modify their school supplied gym strip into shorts where their ass cheeks hung out and sleeveless crop tops and then bitch how the gym teacher is a pervert and its more comfortable to work out that way as tshirts and knee length GYM shorts were too restricting. These ladies did not possess a single athletic bone in their body, refused to sweat, and would likely throw a tantrum and accuse you of assault if you passed any kind of ball to them. Big butts in spandex became 'hot' and well... there they are on the stair climber. All grown up now.
I just had this happen the other day. I was on the north side of a 4x cable station and she was on the south side. She was pulling out her phone and taking pictures for instacrap or whatever other media she is subscribed to. It was uncomfortable to say the least. She wad not turned in a way to just include herself. She wanted who was around as backdrops. I turned away and kept looking at the timer clock, ripped through my sets and went to the other side of the gym. This sh** is annoying as f***. The sad part is, alot of these gym influencers aren't even in shape (much like the above mentioned person). If you really want to know how to work out, make friends with some of the really fir people in the gym and ask them how they got started. Most are very accommodating and will give you pointers.
Joey, another thing that nobody ever thinks about is that he could be law enforcement. I have a friend who has to do under cover work with some pretty nasty people and having their civilian life exposed publicly can put themselves and their families in harm's way.
@@nickhearn7288 ^this is the kind of mentality that puts people at risk 'oh why can't they see your face?' It's not that they can't see your face, it's that the people you're working with under cover can see your routine in civilian life. You can do better, think before you speak
Exactly, gyms have more mirrors than a house of mirrors at a carnival. And even if someone wanted to see what their form looked like from the backside, that could be done in a quick 10 second clip and shouldn't require half their damn workout being filmed.
Good luck checking your form from a side on a squat or deadlift. How about those who want to consult their form with a coach they work with remotly? Not everyone that records themselves is narcisistic infulencer wannabe, some people (like me) go to the gym to train, not to work out. I'm glad I can train in comfortable place that even offers a tripod for their members, not some commercial gym with people who think that is reasonable to look at yourself at the mirror while doing heavy compound lifts.
This has hit home. I was working out and these 2 guys were filming while I was in the background. I asked told them that I don't want to be filmed and they stopped.
There’s probably a reason she reposted it. Knowing Joey was going to review it had her thinking about all the views she can get then probably start ( if she hasn’t already) and OF account
Ladies you don't have the right to film other people and post them on your fucking tik tok videos. Anyone else remember the good old days before social media. Just working out in peace getting that pump w your fellow brothers and sisters in Iron.
I am sincerely glad Joey calls these people out. My issue is that I started going to the gym in college, and continued it to this day. If you figure 9:hours of work and 8 hrs sleep, and the remaining 6 hrs used in driving 2 hrs to/from work, and eating breakfast/dinner. You now have only two reminiscing hours m-f after work to drive to the gym workout and drive home. I get in the gym, warm up workout and take 1-2 min rest set depending on if it is heavy/light day and then go home and get back to my life. Some of these people filming and screwing around need to find something to do outside of hanging out at Average Joes Gym, and posting instagram and Tic-Tock videos of them hanging out and not working out,
I wonder how long its going to be before we see more fights and violence creeping into gyms. Not the place for it. But at some point one of the influencers is going go to far. I think I leaving towards banning of camera's and recording in gyms or hours in a Gym were recording is not aloud.
I stopped going to the gym about 10years ago (found other hobbies plus works shifts so wasn’t worth the money). Who knew how much things have changed! Now I’m a community nurse but don’t fancy returning, thank you.
Joey isn't just amazing ambassador for everyone who doesn't have a voice at the gym, but he legitimately can be a great motivational speaker. You bleed positivity, and that makes a huge difference for a lot of people's confidence to go to the gym.
This advice is also appropriate for wedding photographers. So many photographers think they can make everyone stop and wait while they take engagement photos in front of busy religious buildings.
I get what youre saying and as long as its fairly reasonable most normal and well adjusted human beings would accept the minor inconvenience and make minor accomodations considering its a persons once in a lifetime wedding not a fucking tik tok fitfluencer testing out a new spandex outfit. You could just walk around. Kind of ironic that you lack the self awareness to see that people getting wedding photos done on their special day and interupting 1 minute of your day-to-day makes you more like the woman in the video than the man. Selfish and self centered.
While there is no expectation of privacy in public, I believe people like that man don’t want to be filmed because they’re scared some person may post it and falsely accuse them of being or doing something, like we see constantly from people that film in the gym.
The gym isn't entirely public. It's a private business, and these places DO outline a particular parameter around privacy expectations, including protecting membership lists, disallowing filming in locker rooms, etc. They can and some do extend that expectation to the gym floor. Don't be naive, many private businesses do this, including doctors' offices.
@@tasbirmiah5247 Unless the business has specific policies that exclude photography then there is no expectation of privacy, whether you’ve paid or not. Don’t conflate the issue.
So nice to workout at a local pro-level MMA place, where I teach a bit. Those kids don't screw around and post idiotic videos, they're training for real to kick ass and take names. Reminds me of the attitude we had all those decades ago. Thanks for your work, Joey.
We have to start calling people out for not using certain words correctly. Over the last few years I’ve noticed an increase in the number of people who continue to use YOUR in place of YOU’RE…… it has to stop
I never wanted to be in a gym because I fear what people think in their heads. But now that I see there are people filming without being considerate of how they film - I reeeeeeaaally don’t want to be in a gym.
In her defense, his swagger did seem a bit rude. Although it's true that these gym TikToks are becoming a plague, nobody enjoys being approached this way. Smiling & being courteous goes a long way.
Especially when you never know what said influencer is gonna use the video for, how is he to know she isn’t filming to catch him accidentally looking in her direction or to make fun of him in some way. Filming needs to be banned!
It's not even that I don't want to end up on someone else social media page... I come into the gym to WORK. "Influencers" setting up their cameras take up space and waste other people's times by taking 30 minutes to film 3 sets of bicep curls.
I'm not trying to police what women can and cannot wear in the gym as it's their choice and I don't have control over what they put on. However, I'll never understand how some women will enter a public space with such tight clothing. Surely that just draws more unwanted attention towards you. You can get mad if someone is legitimately harassing you, that's fair, but when your clothes are so tight that they're accentuating all your curves for everyone you walk by in the gym to see, I don't think you should be mad if people glance at you. That also can't be comfortable, can it? This is a genuine question. Is that kind of outfit comfortable t wear when working out? If so, then I guess I understand.
I wish we could go back to the old world, where TikTok and Instagram did not exist. It’s brought out the worst in people and given narcissists a platform the rest of us don’t need.
I love Joey, he stands up for men so much. I literally just watched him make the exact opposite stance of this situation when it was a man that tried to get another man to stop recording. But I love that he always stands up for men when woman play the victim
