I'm sorry this brought me to tears. As someone who is poor because I am disabled I understand that mans plight. I'm proud that he atleast did his best to show his loved one that he cares. But for someone to then criticize him for it breaks my heart. There was a time I had to eat out of trash cans, go 9 days without eating and yet still feel blessed by God for what I have. If I was in the position of those guys, instead of berating others, I would have made up some story about paying it forward and offer to buy them meals. Dear Father what has this world come to. TY Joey for calling them out. This is just horrible.

Had I overheard that I would have quietly sought out the waitress, ordered whatever that woman had wanted & dessert for the couple, have it delivered anonymously & put it on my tab. I've done it a number of times. I noticed a mom counting out small bills & change in the parking lot. When I went to the restroom, I saw that the kids were sharing 2 meals & mom was not eating she just had water. I bought a gift card at the register, I put enough money on it for all of them to have meals this time as well as enough for another visit, then very discreetly gave it to the mother. Making fun of them & videoing them never would have crossed my mind. Kicking someone when they are down isn't exceptable.

I’ve been married for 33 years. 11 years ago I had to leave my wife and children to go to another state for work. My family stayed in Oklahoma while I went to Florida for some temporary work. We were going through some really bad times. I was homeless for about 10 days, my family had no idea. I spent 7 months away from my family, working and sometimes had to sleep at a YMCA shelter. Was able to afford a room for $300 a week. Had to man up and work. Today my children are grown up and married, I’ve got a beautiful granddaughter and me and my wife are empty nester, enjoying each other living in Oklahoma. No one should ever make fun of someone’s circumstances. Even Sylvester Stallone was homeless once. Thanks bro 👍

This really bothered me. My late teens to early 20s was really rough and having a gf really tested me. Our dates consisted of going on a bus to go anywhere since I couldn't afford a car. I would order fries at times to make sure she eats whatever while I also drink water to save whatever I could to make sure she got the meal she wanted. It was just the act of the date to make me feel worthy of a bf that can take care of her even though I can barely afford it. There were times were we couldn't go out and it would hurt so bad. Annoys me how there are judgmental people not realizing the struggle is real and some of us are doing the best we could with what we got.

Thank you, I'm so glad I found Joey Swoll.. I grew up better than some but poorer than most. I got into the gym late and had set backs that took my favourite lifts away from me. The videos you post inspire me and I've found myself offering younger lifters advice or a spot because of what you've said, finally it's clear and genuine the kind of person you are. I've seen it happen when I was younger .I've heard a couple arguing about it. I walked to them , pretended it's my birthday and feel like paying for someone's order , payed, wished them luck and walked away. And you know what ? It felt good, it felt right.

Empathy is a dying trait it seems. So sad to see that. As a young man (23), I could never in my life imagine treating another human like that, wanting to belittle and embarrass them, just because they aren't fortunate enough to be in the position I might be in. What a pathetic lack of human respect and love for your fellow man. Shame on them. True love isn't getting whatever you want to eat at a restaurant, it isn't getting a diamond ring from somebody; it's knowing that if they could, they would give you the world. True love is making things work, no matter the situation.

This is all because people chase clout ! In other words, they do shit they think will win them FAKE INTERNET POINTS. If that kind of behavior was seen generally as wrong, that person would not have posted that video or even bother to make the video in the first place. It seems that people's behaviors are controlled by what some algorithm will reward them with rather than live by some kind of moral or virtuous code. Even videos where people record themselves being "selfless" seem a bit too scripted to be legit. It's truly sad that people like you Joey even need to make videos like yours calling these kinds of people out. You are appreciated, keep doing what you're doing. Hopefully enough people will snap out of it and start acting like real people.

Great video Joey Swoll. This brings back some sad memories for me of a time when I was mocked on valentine's day for not having enough money to afford a dinner reservation for an ex girlfriend. That same old ex-girlfriend seemed to delight in shaming me the entire night before driving home and telling all her friends too. I ended up walking home, as I couldn't afford the bus fare. God shows us who people are in our lives. We need only pay attention. Wealth and poverty are but seasons in our lives, but true love is as consistent as the rising and the setting of the sun.

That breaks my heart. I hope that pitiful excuse for a human gets what's coming to him.

My husband just lost his job and normally he would take me out for valentines or get me something but instead because we have to live off my minuscule income I bought him Taco Bell and we had tacos for Valentine’s Day. If anyone and I mean anyone tried to shame him because of that I would have to do my best not shove a taco wrapper down their throat. Men have such a brutal time trying to be all these things that “society” tells them they are supposed to be just for them to be publicly ridiculed when the fall short of some arbitrary standard and it pisses me off. My response upon hearing that would have been to go to the manager or waiter, (discreetly and quietly) slide them some cash, or add to my tab, and then ask the manager to please comp their meals anonymously. Let the couple know that their meals are already paid for, and to get whatever they would like regardless of the price. Valentine's Day is about love. All kinds of love.

My partner and I have been together for over 5 years and we've gone through prosperous times where we didn't have to budget and times where money was tight and we had to carefully budget all expenses. Sometimes you want to go out, but know that you are on a strict budget and have to make compromises. I've been there. A great and loving partner understands the financial situation that you're in and will respect the financial boundaries. It's nothing to be ashamed of; money comes and goes for us all in life and sometimes we get to live like kings while other times we have to ration.

Sometimes people just decide to be annoying out of nowhere. Social media is a good reflection of that.

Being poor sucks. At least that guy is trying. I was a heroin addict from 15-31 and involved in criminal activity the whole time. I have been clean (from drugs and fast money) for 9 years. Due to my past I do not have a great income, but what I make now is honest. Social media has inextricably tied our self-worth to our income. Lots of women will not date me because I am poor. It hurts, not gonna lie about that. I wish we could all start seeing each other as people instead of profiles with stats that determine our worth.
