I get the sabotage but I feel bad for the canvas in a way. They may end up with something they won't like. Then again, you want a good tattoo, pay for it.

The dark skin girl literally has vibrant color tattoos! And he is saying that the color of her skin is limiting his color choices. Edit: Wouldn’t he know about color theory?

In Dave’s defense, an anatomical heart shifting to a lion head is like top 3 worst ideas I’ve ever heard for a tatto, especially wanting it in color the shift from lion fur to blood red heart is gonna be hard for anyone

Honestly disappointed by the 'a lion needs a mane' bit. If an artist can't draw a female lion without it looking like a cougar .... bruh that's your problem.

Some of these are also straight up the canvases' fault. Canvas: 'Hey I want this really detailed tattoo, with these specific colours' Tattoo Artist: 'sorry that's not going to work, bc of this, this, and this, it will simply not look good or age well' Canvas: 'I don't care, I still want that.' Tattoo artist: agrees bc this is a competition Canvas: 'I hate it' Why the hell would you not listen to your artist when they say that your idea won't work???

The way that like 3 people wanted a heart morphing into a lion lol you could tell that the third girl was almost embarrassed to say it out loud after the first two

Kyle got screwed by the judges... Amanda's tattoo was atrocious. It didn't even look like a Japanese temple. Kyle's tattoo was clean even though it had one technical issue, but it was from the location on the body. Amanda deserved to get sent home for that one, not Kyle.

Amanda’s temple was so bland and had no depth, all grey no black. Idk how she escaped that one.

I'm sorry, but you can't come onto a competition show for a free tattoo with a time crunch and get upset when you get a bad tattoo. You knew the risks and you got what you paid for. Edit: Any artist, no matter how good, can mess up in these conditions.

23:16 Kyle's looked way better; there was more depth, is likely long-lasting, and it looks like a temple. Amanda's had this weird look that probably won't hold well after time. Hers' looks like a coliseum with a giant hat. In addition, her sakura trees look like blisters.

I believe that the artists who choose which other tattoo artists pair with canvases who know specific details they know they're terribly bad at it, is just a horrible thing to do for a canvas to do coming from a tattoo/leader for their own personal sabotage. Except for when they ACTUALLY succeed in getting it perfect that the canvas loves it. That's the best clapback ever, I swear.

I just wanna say, Ryan had this in the bag from day one. She had some where she didn’t shine as much but overall, she was a very strong competitor and it’s clear that she was willing to work her ass off for this title. Her report card overall was fabulous. I’d kill to get a tattoo from her.

Anyone else get the vibe from watching these videos that every skilled tattoo artist in the country eventually realized this show isn't a good demonstration of actual skill and stopped going on this show? Seems after a few seasons the contestants just weren't up to snuff, especially after they had to bring in coaches.

I loved Austin's panther tattoo, to me it looked like a cougar that goes into stars and constelations that then goes into the galaxy. Shows how great these artists are because of how nitpicky the judges have to be.

I cant believe they did my boy Kyle dirty like that! The darker shadows add weight and depth that take away from the crookedness far more than Amanda's, who's tattoo is quite flat while having the same problems. Unbelievable!

Amandas tattoo looked deformed, I couldn’t even tell it was a temple and she used pink to attract the eye away from how off it is at the top. I’d actually be perfectly fine wearing Kyles

That black panther one was a cute one. Dont know all about the technical stuff they talking about but it looked cute.

My least favorite part of TV show competitions is sabotaging, even more so with artists. It is gross to watch. Once again, the whole dark skin thing is a terrible excuse. I feel bad for the clients.

Clint’s canvas probably walked out with at least 20 laser tattoo removal sessions on his leg 😭 that thing is so huge and so dark and so cluttered that the only option to cover it would be getting it blacked out or something crazy like that. Man I feel so bad for that guy 😣

I personally liked Austins better. I liked the pink above the head contrasted with the black was very pretty. I liked the galaxy the way it went onto the neck, i liked all the colors he used, it looked beautiful to me. I think this is actually my favorite tattoo ever that got eliminated. I think its really interesting and pretty. Id love to have it myself. Sorry Austin, i think beauty is in the eye of the beholder for sure, and this time it just wasnt the right beholder.... I would have fought for it if i were one of the judges. Sorry.

I hate how up in arms the Tattoers on this show always get when a brown skin person shows up. If you can’t tattoo just say that tbh🤷🏽‍♀️. I am a black woman and have many color tattoos of varying shades that look amazing and have for YEARS. Stop shaming the canvases for their skin & learn how to tattoo a wider range of skin color other than white 💯

honestly the canvases are lowkey wilding sometimes imagine the artists being like "bro they're not gonna wanna do this" indicating that they are DIFFICULT and UNLIKELY to come out well and be like "im not budging"... INSANE

this whole concept of sabotage and poor sportsmanship i think really take away from the show. if i'm going to watch a show about tattoos, i want good tattoos, not drama club BS that leads to uncomfortable and/or poor looking tattoos. tattoos are an amazing form of art, and they take that and ruin it by adding in all this extraneous garbage

I mean her skin tone isn’t white, of course, but he’s acting like her skin is jet black, and that’s a total copout. This woman has a very lovely skin tone and a great complexion. She also has other color tattoos so I definitely feel like Dave was just using a copout to get out of going the extra mile. She deserved a better tattoo from an artist willing to take some risks and give it their all, not someone to play it safe and wuss out. Also? “I don’t tattoo lions all the time.” Not every challenge is going to be your cup of tea. That’s why they’re called challenges. The fact that all he did was take the easy way out and give excuses says that he doesn’t have what it takes to be ink master at all. An ink master is an artist that is well rounded in multiple styles of tattooing and in execution that tattoo successfully in terms of things like solid line work and correct proportions. He never had what it takes.

I kinda feel like Nikki's sabotages are mostly out of spite, rather than strategy. I get that Craig did the same to Dave, but he had a reason outside of personal hate.

I honestly think Dave’s design was pretty cool. The challenge itself was a hard one, but the lion was dope and spot on. Even the girl loved it herself. Just my opinion!

There's a reason why nobody else was doing the inside of the anatomical heart, the tricuspid and aortic valves means you shouldn't have been able to see the two arteries, it isn't anatomically correct

I feel bad for Kyle that was a straight set up I liked his better than Amanda's and she was being cocky saying hers was better I get the placement on Kyle's canvas and it's tough to do but he had bold straight lines and hers was just too light handed not enough ink in the skin to even last long especially on an arm

I may not be a great artist but Kyle’s Japanese temple looks more symmetrical and more accurate than Amanda’s. Japanese temples do not look like that and they definitely don’t have a cross at the top it’s not a temple it’s a church.

Bruh Amanda’s temple had different perspectives in every single beam. There was not ONE consistent perspective and they were all contradicting themselves like a bad optical illusion. It doesn’t even look like a temple. Kyle’s may have been wobbly, but at least it has the same perspective and it looked like a temple. Nahhh that was bs

I don't think tattoo artists should be allowed to continue competing if they complain about the skin color of their canvases. Imagine how this lady would feel watching this episode afterwards and seeing Dave's reaction to having her as his canvas.

To compare a lioness to a cougar is like comparing a man to a woman…If an artist cannot see the difference they have no business tattooing it.

Jaime (James from Tattooz Ink in Redding CA) is a superb artist. I have several custom pieces by him, including a nude kneeling woman that covers my left thigh (6 hours). I think he should've beat out Sarah (from Pgh, PA) as her Big Cat just looked like a coverup (it wasn't). James *is* an Ink Master 👑

I get how they want to challenge the artists, but the way it's done on the show is just wrong. Too many things can go wrong because it's just out of the artist's control. I know they need the drama but it's too much. I'd rather see what they can really do than constantly stumping them.

To be fair the point of the sabotage, as the artist, is really making your canvas understand what you can and can't do style wise, what does and doesn't look good, and most of all, have the canvas realise the limits you encounter due to the time constraint. You can't just start a tattoo you know will be bad because you know you won't have the time. Don't cut corners, reimagine the concept.

I'll always feel bad for the people who receive the sabatoge tattoos I get that it's a free tattoo from a competition show but at the end of the day they're the ones with it on their body. If it's a bad tattoo the person who got it has to deal with it or sometimes if it's really bad get the tattoo covered Again I get it they take the risk by just going on the show to get the tattoo but it won't change that i feel bad for the people who go in to get what they think could be a cool tattoo but end up with something that could have been done out of spite Aside from that I also want to add that I the excuse of a darker skin tone "limiting the colors" is total bs

If I was on this show, if I got to pick who got what canvas, I would give each person what I think they would do best at. Because 1) it's best for the canvas, and 2) I would want to compete against the best, and I would want to win knowing that out of everyone doing their best work, I won. Like. What's great about winning because you made all the really good ones go home, and going against shitty tattoos? You know? Plus, that's going on someone's body permanently.
