Lancia was to continue success in the WRC, in the Group A World Rally Championship in the 1980s. With sponsorship from Martini Racing, they take the Lancia Delta Integrale as a basis, with its turbocharged engine and permanent four-wheel drive system.
The regulations at the time stipulated that these racing cars had to be based on street versions of the car.
