"Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but your son is a genius." I don't think he's being facetious or sarcastic. He knows how challenging it can be to be a genius in our society. A world that values wealth over intellect; and if you can't find a way to make yourself valuable some other way, you're going to suffer.
Also geniuses ARE still disabled. Just because they present as "smarter than average" it doesn't negate their disability. Usually they'll struggle with issues like chronic understimulation, social isolation, and conflating their self-worth with their accomplishments. And those are just the issues that come with standing out from your peers
Because he delivered the news like it was. A judgment or him ridiculing her. It's all about delivery and context. If he would've made a suggestion in a polite manner. She probably wouldn't have reacted that with
@@TreySlayPlay23 in the show they give a very good explination of why he acts like this, tldr: no EQ, i.e, no emotions, so pure facts without filters, aka rude basically
So I'm doing training to be at FCC and I get to work with this amazing individual with autism. I've read his poems and his stories they are complex and beautiful. He's writing a book on his experience with his current FCC to publish it. He needs help moving his arm to keep himself slow and steady so he can type. The training isn't easy as it can be emotional draining for both parties. I work with him for an hour under supervisor of his current FCC once a month. He and I also enjoy word came. He'll use a keyboard or a tablet or letterboard to communicate with staff and it's really awesome. My sister is autistic and nonverbal in a sense as she'll repeat things not actually telling you what she needs. She uses pictures and sign language to help her tell mom or I what she needs.
Actually it’s hard to be a genius, it makes you different and makes it hard to fit in, you can’t relate to people as easily because your brain is just functioning on a higher level than most people could ever hope to comprehend, it might seem to be a blessing but in reality it’s more of a curse
They are not tears of joy, she is crying because she feels guilt and shame for not realizing her son was a genius instead thinking there was something 'wrong' with him, that has was 'challenged'
Sorry but grandmasters don’t lose in 8 moves. They have known the quick mates since they first began. At least create a scene that’s actually realistic.
Cause diagnosing someone just by looking at them for a couple minutes is always encouraged by the hospitals everywhere. This is why they love web md. People misdiagnosing themselves is what all doctors love
It really depends how serious you take it. If it's like "well I have a pain in my lower right that's been there for too long and I see it's says it could be appendicitis, I just want to check if it is just in case" that's fine it's reasonable, you accept that there is a serious possibility but want a medical professional to actually confirm it; if it's "I DEFINITELY have appendicitis because I read about the symptoms online so don't tell me other wise, just take it out now" that's what they hate, because they know you won't care about any tests and will complain even if they tell you you don't have it.
It's not the bearer of bad news. He should have said. I hate to break it to you, but your kid is a genius. Because her child being a genius is not bad news.
study has proven that the higher the intellect of a person the more prone they are to emotional and mental problems later in life, maybe that's the bad news about lil man being a genius?
I can't believe the show scorpion is just now blowing up I think bc the guy playing Walter was in the Game of thrones and world war Z!! Just like the show Psych I miss it too.
@@valmikabeneteau7229 The show was called Scorpion that was on CBS. The female is Katharine McPhee. She was first famous for being runner-up in the 5th season of American Idol in 2006.
As a first time father to a beautiful 3 year old baby girl I can relate to this. People often ask if or imply my daughter might be or is autistic. She does things no 3 to 7 year old can do at this age and is beyond intelligent. My point is do not judge your child because sometimes we over look the real cause which is always underestimated. Sometimes they might fall on the scale, have ADD, ADHD, or something else but that does not make them any different but makes them unique. And SOMETIMES THEY ARE JUST A GENIUS! Don’t be to quick to judge
If he’s losing in 8 moves, he isn’t a grandmaster lmao. There is no possible way for anyone who has played chess before to realistically lose in 8 moves, no matter how good there opponent is
This type of approach should be standard for all children, people should not just assume all children learn and communicate in the usual manners. People need to stop feeling instead of thinking, it's not an efficient or accurate way of dealing with problems...
Yes, yes and yes. All three are signs of greater intelligence. Chess is big on spacial awareness and predictive reasoning. Rubix cubes are great for root memorization and pattern recognition. And programming is a completely different language that often requires higher knowledge of math than anyone really gets. But maybe the guy that plays mario cart is smart too, who knows.
@tiddlesworth8798 I see your logic however. If your great at sudoku, checkers, cross words that also test.your cognitive abilities, if you speak more than one language (i.e a lot of European ppl) does that test your cognitive ability if so then if your great at any sport your a genius
@@andrewmiller71 You've never played any chess, have you? "Mate in 4" is a common thing to say. They don't even say "moves", let alone "from now". Do the scriptwriters have to hold you hand that much, that you can't even infer that?
@@12345kermie It can be understood both ways. Sorry I forgot a bit of chess lingo and got it wrong. I submit to you and your vast IQ, my mistake shall have me branded a fool of fools and your name shall be sung for years to come.
@@Revoltine yes I know, I play chess, just given the context and inflection of the sentance it gives the impression he means 8 moves in total. It’s very likely that a Hollywood movie made a mistake like that.
Question, when he said checkmate in 8 moves does he mean he lost in 8 moves, no grandmaster will lose in 8, even if going easy, it's hard to lose in 8. Or does he mean there's forced checkmate in 8 on the board
I tell people that there is a second part to the curse. “may you live in interesting times,” that is “may you have intelligent children“. Ironically, enough, I see this play out most commonly in fur babies. because of the distinctly different ways of thinking and inability to communicate, I’ve seen relatively intelligent animals make humans look like fools because the humans underestimate them. It makes you wonder how much we underestimate each other, or even ourselves.
Pitting can occur from a number of health conditions. Most of which involve poor oxygen supply to the nail bed, like bad circulation, high blood pressure, anemia, etc
I like the concept okay, I like the vibe okay. The dialogue is throwing me off…or perhaps it’s her acting. “Don’t tell me he needs help. He’s challenged. Have some empathy!”?? How much do Hollywood writers make? If this is the standard, maybe I can do it!
How old is this clip? That waitress.... isn't that Katherine Mcphee? She still could pass for 29 years old. I remember voting for her on American idol when i was 16 and now I'm 35.
