Had they called it something else it definitely would have succeeded. Big mistake was calling it Motley but that was the labels fault. Elektra made them do it.
@@rustyskies9718 I DISAGREE. I saw this amazing tour with John and songs ROCKED new and old tunes alike, WILD SIDE especially with John's 2nd guitar and outstanding vox! sadly album would've failed no after what cuz mid to late 90s were all about HATING anything from (in "their" perspective) 80s excess cuz bands like Nirvana, AiC and Pearl Jam hypocritically said to. Thanks to channel for posting... just wish those 2 jabberjawbin whole time woulda SHUTdaFKup tho'.
Motley Crue had the chance to become the modern day AC/DC but just F-cked it up because they used MTV to try and make fans forget that Vince was the original singer! The Crue record with Corabi is a great Rock n Roll Record worthy of some fandom!
John Corabi sings circles around Vince. And I've always preferred twin guitars to one, especially when bands record two guitar tracks on their albums. Most bands do, Crue, Dio, Van Halen, Ozzy. Then when they play live, that second track is missing during solos.
I agree with a lot of what you said. But I would argue against on 2 fronts: First, it wasn't Corabi's fault necessarily - but the songs sucked on that album, IMO. Second... you didn't miss much of anything when you went to a Van Halen concert. Eddie filled in so much of the gaps... you hardly knew there wasn't a lead and rhythm guitar out there. That's how good the guy was. My opinion.
@@jimmyz2098 Vince was and always will be over rated. Any schmuck on Hollywood Blvd, at that time could have not only did what Vince did but would likely have been a much better musician.
even in the studio they aren't playing solos straight through. they are splicing together bits and pieces of the best takes ..I find a band like the rolling stones who have always employed 2 guitarists still don't replicate the album onstage...then a band like u2 where you have 10 different guitar tracks on the album and yet the edge replicates it completely onstage through the use of foot pedals...when van halen did Jamie's crying live I always missed that second guitar track filling out the sound behind the solo, but in most songs eddie was able to get the full sound on his own...so many bands nowadays use backing tracks so you don't know what's live...kiss was another band with 2 guitars yet eddie alone sounded fuller live ..on some live zeppelin songs John Paul Jones would cover some of the tracks to allow page to solo. mick Mars was excellent at sounding full live . overall I think it depends on the skill level of the player. I'd prefer to see only the band onstage rather than backing players. just a straight up lean and mean rock band
@@jimmyz2098 lol. "Motley Crue" was hands down their best album musically. I'm talking pure musicianship. I think that had they come out under a different band name, it would have been a hit. Vince Neill is a joke as far as being a true musician goes.
@@franksmith2129 I didn't like it. But I don't attribute that to John Corabi. For me.... the songs sucked. They weren't really the Crue then. I would have actually liked to have seen what Corabi could have done with them.... if they did real Crue stuff. That album just sucked IMO.
Just bought the album that John did live all the Motley songs from the album he was on freaking awesome just like when I seen them in Pittsburgh live I wish He would do a solo CD
@@christipton7588 I'm a radio follower yeah cuz Motley crue was played on the radio so much moron and John corabi done so much since leaving Motley Crue that shows how good he is get off John corabi nuts he sucks Vince Neil b****
Corabi was the frontman they always needed, he sang the Motley stuff better than Vince, he played guitar to help Mick, and he wrote songs with Nikki, plus he didn’t have the attitude Vince had.
Motley Crüe Self titled album was critically acclaimed by rolling stone magazine best lyrically n musically produced Crüe album-Fuel for thought😎🤓😏🧐 🙄🙄
the Crue fans weren't ready for this! but this is the most badass album they ever did!! Corabi is so much more metal than Vince ever thought about being!
Track-listing: 1)Hooligan's Holiday... 2)Live Wire... 3)Shout at the Devil... 4)Wild Side... Clearly this is not the whole show...Hopefully I can find the rest of it somewhere on RU-vid!
I have been listening to them since I was like 11 years old with Too Fast for Love. I can't say I disliked any of the albums in the 80's, but this album was so much better musically than anything before or after. Vince I guess had his place, but John joining them opened up so much more.
Old Motley Crue songs NEVER sounded so good!!! John sings all the lyrics and kicks ass on guitar. Great compliment to Mick's guitar work. The raw power and emotions of this show is over the top. I wish I could have been there. I've seen the Crue twice, the Theater of Pain tour and with KISS on their Monster tour. But this concert video smokes but of those vocally and musically. The special effects were better with the other shows but the power was with John's time with the band. Hopefully John and Mick will do something now that Mick is no longer touring with Motley Crue. Thank you for this great video. Stay safe my friend and may God bless 🙏✝️🙏
I was PRIVILEGED to see this tours final show at Hollywood Palladium; one of the most amazing performances I've seen EVER. Right up there with GN'R at the HOB in Vegas on 010101 (i was there too :) .During the song "Hammered" Nikki turned his back to audience then STAGE DIVES BACKWARDS!! The audience not only held him aloft but proceeded to CARRY HIM amongst the crowd....did I mention whole time he's still PLAYING BASS to song??!! WTF?! LOL just...outta this world man. Also I'll never forget the expressions on the Bands faces...PURE JOY. I know that during that period Mick, Tommy and Nikki knew they had something special there...it's just unfortunate they couldn't make it work like Van Halen did with Sammy. I'm sure that's what they were thinkin, "one more album with Corabi" will get them there, but alas The Powers That Be at Elektra didn't agree. As an aside I recall an interview in '94 about the unreleased track "10,000 Miles" and Nikki saying "the last thing they wanted was a Power Ballad Top 10 Hit" hence the decision to release it only B-Side, assuming the album was gonna sell regardless. Unfortunate decision as maybe THAT track coulda got them over hump and garner more sales thus leading to the planned PERSONALITY #9 Album planned with Corabi. None involved have honestly written anything on the scale of the '94 album sinse. Corabi included. Those 4 were at the pinnacle of something amazing. IMO Sixx:AM would have faired better with Corabi's voice and songwriting collaboration...but thats probably just my prejudice speaking. Sixx:AM had some decent tracks but an element is missing in the song writing. Again..just IMHO. Still..better the '94 album than nada. Gilby Clarke of Guns N' Roses (at the time anyway) opened for them and during Mötley's acoustic set Gilby came out and did a cover of The Beatles 'Revolution' w/ them. UNFKNBLBLE!! :) 21 years ago that concert was...wow.
Just saw John Corabi play the whole MC'94 album with his band this last weekend. Amazing show! He put together an incredible band that nailed every song. So cool to finally hear those songs live. My 2nd favorite Crue album behind Shout.
It took me all these years to come across this clip , and I am blown away at how great this sounds and just how underappreciated corabi was by alot of the core motley crue fans .
Best Shout at the Devil performance I've heard. The Whole video displays them, at their best. Especially Mr. Lee. This is where Billy Corgan's comparison of Tommy Lee to John Bonham comes to Justice. Thumbs up!
Shout is the first crue song I ever heard and is holy for me. Never heard a better version of it than this. Also I will never forgive them for the atrocity that is shout 97
Lee is playing at his most mature, and damn he is a brilliant drummer...and yeah I noticed the Bonham triple kick too..plus the space left in the songs to show off Lee's obvious skills
Smokin' in the Boys Room was my proper introduction to the Crue and that's one of the few times I'd say Vince really makes the song. Corabi is so unbelievably good. He smokes Vince any day of the week. This version of Shout at the Devil is..dare I say it...better than the record. Believe me, Shout in Moscow is my jam, but this is simply another level. Of course his voice wasn't a perfect fit for all the old songs, but the sheer talent proudly overshadows that fact.
First time I have heard Corabi do other Crue music than the self titled album is in this video. Guess Vince isn't the only one who can sing "Live Wire" What a difference in the band Corabi made. Best album they ever put out was with him. What a shame they didn't continue down the road with him onboard.
Totally agree....this Live Wire version is fucking awesome. The Corabi album is the only Crue release I bought since Shout. They could have done great if they would have just stuck it out instead of giving in to the record company. Anything with Neil after this has just sucked. It was just a timing thing when record companies were jumping on the whole grunge bandwagon and putting little faith into new music from older bands....unless you're Aerosmith.
I wish they would have had more time with Corabi. He's so good, and the music from that album is Greasy as hell! It's really nice to hear the singer sing all of the words live. (Unlike VInce)
I heard Nikki and Tommy didn’t want to get rid of John but management or the label twisted their arm demanding to get Vince back. Nikki and Tommy should’ve told them to piss off
First and foremost. ..thanks for the upload. ..as I have been a huge crue fan for almost 30 years I would of loved to have seen this lineup go farther than they did. Yes,Vince will always be the "original "singer in the band, but you could tell that at that particular time they were ready to move forward with this album. Not only did the album make new fans but it also made haters appreciate the musicianship these guys had in that era. Too bad they weren't able to continue....
Saw this at Pine Knob in Clarkston, MI '94. I didn't really appreciate it much then, but I sure do now. Saw John This year on the MC '94 tour... Awesome.
Awesome video! Too bad this didn't last longer. They were much better and tighter musically with Crabby, don't care what anyone says. And who cares what they were or weren't called, they were a killer band that made an awesome record.
My band KILLCODE is main support for John Corabi on Saturday December 13th at Revoloution bar in Amytiville NY. John will be playing the Motley album in it's entirety....so stoked! ROCK
Generation swine was ready to see the light of the day ...but the label CEO forced the band to fired corabi and re recorded the entire album with neil..a shame
Most time when you replace a original member you suffer if nothing else when you do your songs that came before .But John makes their old shit heavier and better. And he actually sings the whole fukn song!!!!! He brought so much to these guys, I loved the direction they were taking even then, I hung my head in bewilderment when I heard he was out of the band. And they went back to their same 80,s sound
Critically acclaimed back when album was realised -early 90’s-by Rolling Stone Magazine -Best lyrically n musically written n produced Motley Crue album..ever... fuel for thought😆🥺😎🤓🙄🙄🙄🤔🤔
I just fuckin love this lineup, and truly believe this Mötley era delivered the best and cohesive sound they had in all their career. Had never sounded better and won't ever sound as better as this.
Per me la migliore formazione musicale dei Motley .... era un grandissimo Album con una produzione da Paura i suoni di batteria di Tommy Lee erano spettacolari e John Corabi è un bravissimo musicista
Saw this Tour in '94 Dallas Tx Starplex front row at 14 yrs old with my Uncle. Opened up with Hooligans Holiday and Tommys bass was kickin'!! That show rocked. Seen Crue 11 times but that Tour and albumn kicked ass!!
Man....wish Corabi would have gotten a better spot in time with the Crüe. He certainly sings and plays better than Vince.....plus sings the whole lyrics.
@@franksmith2129 if you say Vince is the best, your ears must have been severely messed up. Vince don't sing the lyrics in whole and hasn't done for years and years. He grunts and sings half of them. Mick Mars has an excuse because he is ill. Vince doesn't have an excuse.
@@peevee605 yeah that's why Motley Crue has sold tens of millions of albums because he sucks looks like I'm not the only one with bad hearing dumbass not to mention all the millions of people that have paid to see him sing live they probably got bad hearing too you're perfect eat s***
Has any Crue fan really listened to the extreme difference between Neil and Corabi? It doesn't take a genius to figure out that Corabi's attributes tightened the band up in all areas... I dare any Crue fan to find a video with Neil that sounds as tight as this performance.
IMurderdTheDevil It was timing. Neil was the first and after the whole hair band demise in the early '90s, they needed Neil to bring back the old fans. That's how it works with any of these '80s bands. Fans get nostalgic in their later years and want the original stuff. John was way better and made better music. He made the entire band better. Neil was lucky to even have a career. He has zero talent for music. Just a pretty bleach blond boy running around in white leather and pink lace.
I was a Crue fan since the early 80s. First time I saw them was in a small theater in Pittsburgh before they really blew up. A lot of people will argue but for me they made some of their best music with Corabi. It just wasn't what people were used to.
Zen Blender I agree bro. first off the 94 CD with Crab was killer. I really wanted that new Crue DVD, The End ,but Vince Neil's voice SUCKS!!.. He's so damn winded.
+rockbass Yeah dude you know it. I still get this one out and listen to it all the time. And it's too bad we will never hear the second round of music they recorded with John Carabi. I heard decades ago they have many more songs they wrote with him. The CD with John Carabi is by far there heaviest and by far my favorite of there's. I can't believe fans would rather hear Vince Neil's pussy voice. But it's over now and I have read that Mick is waiting for the end of Motley and is planning on writing and recording with John Carabi again. Let's hope they all reform without Vince and record and tour in a news band.
Yes i agree best lineup of motley crue I love john corabi he helped push the band To another level of metal which i love to this Day motley crue should have kept him instead of getting vince back it was and is the best album for me music wise they went from This album with john to generation swine i only liked a few songs on that album i dont know how well it did either Great album great singer
When they got John corabi on board it was kind of hard for me to take in but when I heard the album and I thought to myself this album has got to be the heaviest album that Motley Crue has ever released Vince would never be able to do these songs mint only knew the party songs but I respect this album even more and even to this day I still have my two copies of this record and I still have my Motley Crue records with Vince Neil and those albums are Classics as well thanks
Ya Know, All these guys did a reunion tour this year, open for someone else under another name, no matter if its a dead give away 3 seconds in first song. The music stands on its own a shit ton better than anything today or past 8 years.
I have been a Motley fan since 1984. First time seeing them was in Vegas on the Theatre of Pain tour with Autograph opening. I have seen them live 8-10x. Their 1994 album imo is their best overall release.
Wrong the Corabi era was a band playing with passion and making art, If you ask me Crue caving into pressure and getting Vince back was a sellout move.
Listen and enjoy. So heavy, just like the 3 (Sixx, Mars, and Lee) said it would be. I am a true blue Crue Head but lets be honest..this is honest rock n roll.
