I know it has been a while, been waiting on parts in order to get this video pushed out. Was hoping to get it out sooner but things took a while. I am now waiting for the next parts before I can strip her down again to get the rest of the work sorted... Frame, forks, wheels etc...

Put the exhaust and silencer on. Its tuned to optimise the engine (as well as exhausting burnt gas,its shape helps to pull through the fresh charge through the ports and it to the combustion chamber). Exhaust is crucial on a two stroke. Avoid running without one. 👍

Excellent video bro! Editing was on point 👌👌 Soooo frustrating when they don't start but it gives a you a great leg work out! Looking forward to see how that 2 stroke sounds with out an exhaust 😆😆

Hey Don. I got a TS 250/1 around the time when you first introduced yours to us so I keep an eye on your channel since. I was waching this video while rebuilding the MZ forks in my kitchen in London and realised wearing even same tracksuit just like you. 😂

How do you determine the position of the crankshaft after reassembling and before setting ingnition? Highest position? Something else?

Hi, I really appreciate anybody who shares MZ content. But what you did to this bearings, crankshaft and engine body was just brutal. I know, because my first attempt was similar. Pray, that this engine runs well. Next try please use temperature!!

I have rebuilt an engine before and replaced many bearings... yes heat or freezing make it easier but it will be fine 🙂 the engine has run with no problems too 👍

@@TheDonInLondon If engine runs well, main mission is accomplished! 😉 Cold assembly bears risk of higher vibrations (deformed crankshaft), shorter lifetime of bearings and early disposal of engine body (bearing seats). This engine is just more challenging than the later EM250s. Inner shaft seals make the difference. I hope you will share a ride with us! 🏍 💨

@@TheDonInLondon Hi Don, Regarding your gear box, I must say, it will not work. On 3:14 I see clearly that gear 4 ist assembled incorrect. Washer is meant to be on the opposite side of gear. 4th gear now can shift randomly. Please be cautious, you risk accident on test ride! I have gear box assembly on my channel. Best regards!

Wooow very good for spotting that! I actually had a couple of problems with the gearbox and had to redo it a couple of times. I will be explaining it in the end video. The washer is now in the right place 👍👍

Check your points gap and coil as I had this problem when I restored my mz ts125

There is an MZ shop if you google them otherwise you can get many parts on ebay or even better the Facebook group buddy

Who was the publisher of the 600 page manual you said in the video. My Dads been trying to get a manual for what he thinks is an mz ts260 1979. A lot of the manuals on the internet aren't really workshop manuals they are parts manual or come in pdf format but are in german.

I recommend getting the haynes manual as it helped me a lot and here is the other one, you will have to copy and paste into your URL and it will download, including ftp:// ftp://blurredmanswebsite.ddns.net/Vehicle_Documents/MZ_Documents/MZ_TS250-1977-Official_Service_Manual.pdf

@@TheDonInLondon I tried the link even with the ftp but got no luck. Who was the publisher or writer of it? It sounded like you said fazer or facer but I havent had any pop up under their names.

I was talking about my fazer 1000 which was a previous build and comparing the manuals. If I copy and paste the whole link it is working for me. It comes up with a popup to download 🤔

On min 2:58 did you just install the ball bearing first and then the rubber seal 🤦🏻‍♂️

Yes seems weird but if you check there is access to the bearing on the other side with an additional cover and seal

Basically every part on this machine which you will buy today is kind of crappy, made in Asia. I've did engine rebuild on MZ ETZ 251 about 10 years ago and there are simply crappy parts. It's important to get original part for what you need. Big doubts you will get engine running its original factory made performance.

I did get original parts for the engine apart from the piston. Exhaust is not original but the bike is running beautifully and still running today
