Thanks for the well wishes! I definitely won’t stop making videos. Probably more after I’m retired with the extra free time. Thanks for watching. Ride safe.
I’m looking forward to it a lot. Still young enough to do a lot of things before my kids take away my car keys and motorcycle! I know that day is coming but hopefully way way off in the future. Thanks for the well wishes!
It does take some guts I’m finding out in just walking away from something I’ve done every day for 50 years of working. Take care and thanks for watching.
I retired last October, what a relief. We are in the process of moving to Indiana where our grandkids are at so we can spend more time with them. Riding is not an option right now here in Northern IL, the ground is white with snow. You will never regret the decision to hang it up.
Congratulations on the retirement decision. Boston Irish, my mom's maiden name was Donovan from Arlington, MA. I retired 10 years ago but got a part-time job to stay busy and make payments on my 2019 Springfield. (Not to mention gas costs.) The days are getting warmer up here, so the residential streets are clearing of ice. Still will be a month or so before I'll be able to ride. Glad to hear you & Stoney will be riding together this spring.
I was just in Boston last month - my wife says Arlington is a great area of Boston. I know you are looking forward to warmer weather and getting that Springfield out on the road. I’ve worked almost continuously for 50 years. I sort of predict I’ll have a part time job too at some point. Thanks for watching.
Wow! Retirement! You’ll love it. I’ve been retired a month and so far there hasn’t been a day when I’ve awoken and wondered, “What do I have to do today? I’m bored!” Just got the bike out of the shop recently. Looking forward to warmer weather. In fact, we’re getting some in central Virginia tomorrow and I’m taking a ride in it!
Good on you Mr Ramblin man. I am retiring end july next year, will be 60. You have been very fortunate to of had a career you enjoyed, I have not particularly enjoyed my working life but I am thankful for what it has given me. I second your advice, have a good pension and clear all your debts before you finish. Thanks Sir.
It goes fast, doesn't it? I'm 11 years behind you, butbitvwill be like the blink of an eye. I remember my first job like it was not that long ago. I hope you have a very enjoyable retirement. And tell Stoney we miss his vids!
It will be your time before you know it. I miss Stoney’s videos too. Just talked to him on the phone yesterday and we are looking forward to riding together this Spring. He’s one of a kind and one of my best friends ever. Thanks for watching.
Great article, I’m gonna be 73 soon , worked most of my life. I’ve worked parttime delivery jobs. But I have a hard time not bringing home a few bucks, so I feel the need to keep working part time, and enjoy a few motorcycle trips. Your videos are very insightful , and I enjoy all of them 👍
Thanks for the kind comments and I appreciate it a lot. I will keep doing them and hopefully more often when a job doesn’t get in the way. Ha! thanks for watching.
Wife and I are both CA state employees with pensions, medical/dental benefits and I've been throwing plenty in a 401k. She's ten years my senior and she retired a few years ago at 59. I'm planning on the same here in a few years. Looking forward to your content and following along with your travels. Ride safe.
Sounds like a great deal with the State of CA pensions. My sister retired a few years ago from the local school system here and has a similar deal. You’ll enjoy your retirement I’m sure. I love riding out in your neck of the woods. Great country out there. Thanks for watching and ride safe.
kudos on the retirement announcement and greetings from carroll county. as a rider, the upside of retirement is i can take advantage of week days for riding when the roads less traveled are in fact less traveled. ride smart and let the good times roll...
I do look forward to riding during the week and not always having to wait for the weekends or holidays to roll around. Thanks for watching and ride safe!
Congratulations on your decision to retire and I know you'll enjoy your much deserved retirement. My wife and I visited Sedona AZ a couple of weeks ago, and with all the beautiful views there, all I could think about was seeing those views on my bike. Ride safe.
Thanks for the well wishes. I do the same thing when I’m on vacation - I’m always telling my wife that this would be a great place to explain my motorcycle. Thanks for watching!
You’ll know when it’s time. I woke up one day over the Christmas holidays and thought to myself……it’s time so just do it. No regrets. Thanks for watching.
Congratulations on your decision to retire! I too will be 67 this year and I retired 4 years ago to help take care of my wife who developed some health issues. Because of her health she can’t travel a lot but she encourages me to take my motorcycle trips. I hope to run into you and NC Stoney along the way some day. Enjoy!
Sounds like you have a great wife and you’re a good man to take care of her. In sickness and health isn’t just some empty promise we make on the altar. Hopefully we do run into each other. I think you would fit in well with two old codgers like me and Stoney. Thanks for watching.
Same as you I will be retiring after 36 years of working for two different chemical/refinery plants. I still will keep a medic job I have with a professional baseball team but won’t be working shift work anymore. Two bikes in my garage and I plan on riding more plus a lot of golf. I will only be 60 by the end of my career and looking forward to it
Congratulations to you too! I think we’ve earned it and I look forward to adding another bike to my garage and lots more riding time. Thanks for watching!
First: Congrats on your retirement. I hope to be "Officially Retired" very soon myself. Second: Pick me !! Pick me!!! I'll ride with you. It would be an honor, sir. Third: I have been going back and forth on getting a 360 Camera or a drone. Leaning to the 360.
Dave - it is definitely time for both of us old coots to hang it up. Hopefully I’ll get up to Nashville this year to visit my son and Smyrna is on my list of stops. Can’t wait to see that Spyder. Take care my friend!
Congratulations and all the best on your pending retirement. My wife and I retired at 55, left the cold of Canada and moved to the country of Panama. I get to ride every day and we have never regretted retiring.
I was in Panama back in the early 90’s when I was working for the Corps of Engineers. We were assisting the Panama Canal Commission do some work on the canal. I spent about 2 months there at the El Panama hotel downtown and loved it. What a nice place to retire! thanks for watching.
Well welcome in advance to the club in advance. Your friend is right everyday is a Saturday. I had 40 years at it but with a twist. I did 20 years at one career and retired with full benefits and 20 with a second career and retired with full benefits. Absolutely couldn't be happier. Strangely enough I ride about the same because there is always something family wants you to do and you have to take care of the property as well. I did add a sport touring bike to play on when the ultra limited is to much. Maybe Stoney will follow your lead. Enjoy retirement while your healthy.
I’m sort of getting myself ready for all the family requests that I’m sure will be coming my way. Except for my lovely wife, I’m practicing how to say no. Ha! I’ll probably add another motorcycle to my garage but just don’t know what yet. Plenty of time to figure that out. Thanks for watching and ride safe.
Congratulations on retirement 🎉 ... I'm with you, when my time comes to retire, I'm shutting the door behind me. Been working since I was a young teenager, enough will be enough when its done.
My boss is begging me to work part time in a consultant role when I retire. I told him maybe but not to call me for at least 6 months. I’m hoping he’ll forget me, but if he doesn’t and I’m bored I guess I could do a little work for some pocket change. Take care and I enjoy your videos riding off road thru the woods. If I were just a little younger…..
Congratulations! Wishing you and your wife much sunshine and all the very best in your future retirement! I always enjoy your videos! You’re a blessing!
I retired nearly ten years ago when I was 60 and haven’t missed going to work at all! Like you, I am in good health and I still enjoy riding and holidaying with my wife, who is also retired. The biggest pleasure is living life to your own schedule instead of planning everything around work. I wish you and your wife a long and happy retirement.
Congratulations on your upcoming retirement and good words of advice to the youngins. You’ll certainly enjoy more time to do what you want whenever you want! Did I hear Stuart Florida? That’s where I live so keep me posted!
I am working on an apartment complex being built on Hwy 1 just across and up the road a bit from Treasure Coast Harley-Davidson. I come to Stuart once a month and i normally fly into West Palm Beach and drive up. But I’ve been wanting to visit with a good riding buddy of mine who has retired now and lives just north of Stuart. It’s about 900 miles from my house to Stuart so it would be a 2-day ride each way for me. I’m thinking April.
@@GARamblinMan I know that complex being built, stick construction with concrete block elevator shafts. Living in Stuart now, but may be in Port St Lucy (up the road a piece)by April with a house being built. Keep me posted!
Yeah I haven’t had any of my retired friends tell me I’m making a mistake. I’m looking forward to waking up on a Monday and having to figure what I’m going to do that day. Thanks for watching.
Congratulations on your upcoming retirement! It will be wonderful be able to do more of what you prefer to do. On several of your videos you've mentioned renting motorcycles in various locations. What procedure(s) do you use for that, dealers, apps, websites? Thanks in advance.
I usually rent through Eagle Rider at www.eaglerider.com. They are at Harley dealers around the country. Some Indian dealers will rent motorcycles too. You just have to check their websites. I enjoy doing it. Not cheap but a lot of fun to ride a different type of motorcycle in a new area. Thanks for the well wishes and ride safe!
@@GARamblinMan I appreciate the very prompt and helpful response. I will certainly look into Eagle Rider. I also look forward to your future videos. They're always very well done and interesting. 👍🏿👍🏿
I have not done anything with the oil pump. The only thing I’ve done with the 114 motor I have is the Stage 1 tune and slip ons. Your time to retire will be here soon!
