Great video! Been on that road several times. We like to leave the store and continue East to Damascus and take Highway 58 to Hwy 16. Turn North from there and ride the back of the dragon from Marion VA to Tazewell, VA.
I'm still learning how to video my rides and they are mostly for me to relive my rides. Here is my first trip down the Snake from Mountain City to Shady Valley. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-21w1zLN_yDY.html
Great ride. Thanks for taking us along. Always enjoy the twisties. I haven't ridden Tennessee but it's on my bucket list. I have ridden the Black Hills and especially the Needles Highway and The Iron Mountain Road in the Black Hills. I recommend putting them on your bucket list if you haven't done them yet.
Great vid. Thanks for taking the time to post. Really lifts the spirits in these difficult times. Just out of “Lockdown” here in the UK, so can ride again! Your vids make me want to trade the pan for a wing!! Stay in the groove and stay safe! Phil from Devon.
The location of your GOPRO on the mirror is great . I have ridden The Snake 4 or 5 times and its a great ride . I live in Manassas Va and I hit The Claw of the Dragon and then The Snake on my way down to Diamond Back. I try to do 6 or 7 rides when I am down in Tenn,NC,SC and GA...Enjoy your ride and stay safe
We have a ride here in Arizona. It is on the eastern side of the state, It runs from Springerville to Clifton, AZ. It is over a hundred miles of sweepers, twisties, and curves. It is know as the Devils Highway. Its designation used to be SR 666 but people were constantly stealing the signs, so now it is designated as 191. For those who love to ride curves it is heaven. Very pretty scenery to boot. Very little traffic. Nice roads. I have never gotten to ride back east but it certainly looks inviting. Great video.
Very nice road Mike. Love it. A few weeks ago I took old US25 outside Asheville down to SC, and it was tight. It ran through Flatrock. I only saw 3 cars, 1 bike and a crapbox full of bicycles. It was a great road too. Be safe and well.
Nice ride MM! Man, you have a treasure trove of the riding country around you! Yea, that HD was on the line and he was leading, guess the guy following him was even less experienced or waiting to pass him. Anyway thanks for the ride along as always! That mount position was nice but mixing it up gives those who may be wondering what it would like from the driver's perspective. Particularly if they were contemplating an MC purchase. JMHO
Thanks for sharing the adventure with us. I'd love to ride on roads like that. Great video quality and sound and scenery. I'm in sw Ohio and we don't have many roads like that. Maybe zero lol .
I realize this is an older video. However, it made my day. My Goldwing is in the garage for the winter and we have snow and below zero cold. It about six week riding season starts again. Watching this video reminds me of why I ride. Thanks a lot it helps.
A little behind the MM Vlog archives. Momma in the back and not going to get the Full aggression mode on! Good decision. 😂 Gots to say you be Smooth as butter out there. Picking the lines like a pro and ridn’ the apex. Yup jealous. Texas is a tic tack toe grid. Need to get off that board and into this beautiful terrain. I also see that I do have me some Bohn Armor, now I sees I gots to me a Gold Wing shirt. Good stuff out of the MM camp. Ride safe and often. ATGATT.

I have not been on the snake....... Yet. It's at the top of my list for this summer.....just waiting for the go ahead to get back on the bike! Be well, Patrick
Nice ride. That was a sweet looking Indian motorcycle you pulled up next to at the store. And I couldn’t help but notice how having a passenger on board ahem the Mrs. influenced your aggressiveness in attacking the sweepers. 😂 been there. Great video. 👍🏾
MM, looks like you are giving those Stones a workout! Have fun, be safe! I like the helmet cam better, you can turn your head and give us a different view.
Very Very Nice. You sound like me (Rich) lol. When I ride twist I can't help yelling with JOY! Loving the big sweepers, curves even the tight ones. You would LOVE Cali...We ride these types of road almost daily. Well as for the camera location...I like both front view with no bike and the helmet view as long as the bike don't cover the whole screen. Even made a video about it. Great Ride Brother and fellow Winger.
@@MemphisMike901 Yes, The Mulholland Hwy is a nice road, and the section called the snake, is a good section, but extremely short and very over rated. It's also over crowded with cars too. The experience it good if your in the area, but not worth a special trip.
Thanks for taking me along to where I grew up in the Tri-Cities! I didn't know back then how great I had it with so many roads like the Snake to ride. Took my Mom on that same road, I think she like it too. Are you still using the Klock Werks windshield and how is it for this road trip? Have you had the change to get you a Pal's Hot Dog? Good eats.
What a great Vlog! Beautiful scenery and Mrs MM rode along with no complaints!! Lol... Great camera angle and your audio is spot on! Ride safe my friend.......
Yes loved the video it's November 17th 2021 they will be delivering my 2020 Harley street glide special in 8 days probably just in time for snow and bad weather for 6 months I am gonna put my Harley in my basement put your video on big screen in front turn the fan on and virtual ride only way to keep from going crazy thanks for showing.
My husband and I are enjoying the video and loving the views, sceneries and it's a beautiful road to ride. Hope you and your wife enjoy your vacation. The Goldwing sounds great.
Ran this section of US 421 last fall and it is on our groups ride list for this fall as well. Great road, nice folks at the Shady Valley Store. A must route if you are in this area!
After getting the message from Memphis Mike about this road I'm all excited about getting up here in writing it makes me want to go up that way and find a campground to stay a couple of days and do it
Like this view more than the helmet! This looks like my kind of road, prefer the sweepers rather than the hairpin turns. You’re right, I’m jealous! Randy
Just found your channel. I live just around the corner from where you were. I'm in Johnson City,TN. The real/rest of the Snake was ahead of you. From the store in Shady Valley to Mountain City, TN. If you had turned right at the intersection that is also a good road. It will take you back to Elizabethton,TN. Glad you like my back yard...lol. Come visit anytime!!!
My problem with the tell of the dragon is the people over riding/driving themselves either on a bike or sports car and come on over in your lane which can be very dangerous. Not to mention when an 18 wheeler slips in and goes through. There was a man killed three or four ears ago that met an 18 wheeler going under it. 😎😎
theChestnutMtnTinman happens on every road they give a name to... one of my favorite riding partners fromTN lost her ST1100 on the snake.. same way! Harley over his head rider crossed the double yellow and took her out! She wasn’t hurt badly but the Harley rider’s leg won’t ever be the same
You can ride walk drive or fly a risk is the risk see you later you're going to die Shed Happens DIY about it but while you're having fun now Kenya yeah
Hey I just spoke my peace and it didn't come up on your page there what's up with that honey want to read your stuff anymore if you ain't going to put down what I say you know is one way thing ain't no good
Just rode the snake today June 7, 2020 I live in Bristol I ride the snake several times each summer and enjoy the ride with you today thanks keep them coming
Mrs. Memphis Mike ,😀! No head slapping this trip, also 😀! Looks like a great trip and yes a little jealous. Great camera work, but aren't you afraid your camera will fall off? 😁 Love the vids, keep them coming MM and Mrs. MM!
Hey Mark. Just finished triple nickel, rt 78, back of the dragon and the devil's triangle.... All great roads. I believe Memphis Mike would love to those ohio roads. 👍
Thank You! If you get out west, any of the three roads to Fort Bragg California will let you check your own tail lights. Rental cars there must be returned. No one-way rentals!
I've seen the tail of the dragon but I have never seen the snake. This may be one destination I will go for. Probably in 2022. This season is close to being over for me (I don't have heated anything yet lol). Gotta get mama a little better at leaning with me though. She has run me wide once on a curve that scared the crap out of me. Couldn't figure out why the same curve I've taken several times I was leaning harder and taking slower but I still ran wide. She came over the intercom and said sorry she got scared for some reason and didn't lean with me. I suppose we both need more practice before tackling anything like this though.
Ridden it many times. The last time, I had the pleasure to meet a young lad driving a Saturn, all the way in my lane, midway through a turn. So, squids are not exclusive to the Dragon. My favorite is the Rattler, running south from Hot Springs NC. Almost no traffic at all.
Awesome road dude. I'm more convenience that the Indian Challenger is the scoot I want to travel across the country. The Gold Wing is a great bike, but I need to stretch my legs out which I can't on Gold Wing. Thanks for the ride.
Used to do charlotte to blowing rock, boone, mountain city, bristol about 2 or 3 times a year, also done the little switzerland ride and the newland run. I also recommend from brevard to cleveland through the ocoee river valley . You are also having fun going to banner elk. But got to say I think the beartooth from red lodge montana to cook city is fantastic, too. Trail ridge in colorado is equally impressive. Keep riding, it makes life worth living. Used to live in memphis, so i know it gets to be fun once you get past I-65
This was a great route and video. Thanks. I rode many roads in this area in May, but I didn't ride the Snake. I crossed it after riding the Rattler, but it was too late to ride this stretch. I preferred the Rattler to the Dragon because it was longer and less tight. How do you compare the Snake to the Rattler? Next time, I will be sure to hit the Snake! Thanks for sharing. Dave "Tiger" Coward 🇨🇦 Ps. I like the POV from the mirror. I run a similar setup for my videos. I have a Ram mount on the left handle bar controls, and that way, I have a bit of the windshield in the right edge of the frame. I find that gives a bit of perspective to the video.
I used to live over on US 129 and rode all over N GA, TN, NC, and enjoyed it. I think the Dragon has more blind curves than what you showed today on 421 but the traffic on the Dragon these days is insane. Now, for the last 5 years, I ride NW Thailand, a mountain jungle paradise. One 60 mile stretch nearby has 746 curves and the premiere ride I've ever seen is the world famous Mae Hong Son Loop which has 1864 curves in 350 miles. This is a bucket list ride. I have met riders from over 20 countries doing the loop, I've been around it 6 times. I did a 23 minute video about the loop and barely scratched the surface of the numerous attractions, temples, waterfalls, great restaurants, tribal villages, and damn few straightaways. Dodging elephants is something I had to learn about! It never gets cold here so many European riders come to Thailand to ride in winter and motorcycle rentals are a huge business. Ride safe!
I went in 2019 it's well worth the time! I'm coming from the NC side so I went to Bristol and back home. We eat in Mountain city, TN then went to Bristol.
My neck of the woods. I live in NC., 17 miles from the Mountain City TN. end of US421. It can be a handful but the best part is that there is usually very little traffic.
I led a group ride on 421 years ago and stopped at the Shady Valley Country store. Nice ride. Try Hwy 116 to Brushy Mtn. prison, lots of curves and good mountain scenery.
