Eric Johnson performing Mountain medley on the second day of performing in the bottomline. This song was later released as an instrumental version on the Venus isle album. My favourite track by him and I wish that he releases the song version with vocals on an upcoming album.

Moutain is one of those songs (such as Confortably numb, While my guitar gently weeps, ...) which have a harmonic progression that makes any solo phrasing sound amazing. Incredible work by EJ.

It's so nice to see this version cleaned up. Great version. Probably the best of the 2 nights he performed that weekend.

I completely agree that this is the best version of the 2-night performance released that weekend. I had this same version on VHS in 1992, exported it to CD and listened to it for years after Ah Via Musicom was released hoping one day he would officially record it and was disappointed he never did until I heard how he evolved the song into an instrumental and voila....Venus Reprise was born, which is a phenomenal end to one of his best CDs IMO. If you compare this version with Venus Reprise, his tone, note choice and inflection and feel are spot on. Also very reminiscent of High Landrons. Such an amazing player. Thank you for posting this high quality version!

Right on David, I couldn’t agree more. Being a fan you’ve probably come across Eric’s appearances on Austin City Limits. The one I’m recommending is the night he performed without Tommy Taylor on drums. Please forgive me for describing the performance this way, but it was the night with the black drummer (for the life of me I’ve forgotten his name) Checkout the solo drum intro and performance of, (Camels Night Out) Eric’s tone that night was so hot it comes thru the screen! Hats off to the audio and video producers from the show. They got it just right. Regards from another EJ fan.
