I love the engineering that went into the legs on this guy. It's really clever, lends itself to a slim design and has good aesthetics. It's also not the reason the articulation is compromised. I also love how the barrel doesn't partsform save for the stand.

The backpacks on both Shockwave and Quakewave remind me of those old-school large field radios that the military used to use. One could just have more of a gimmick to it.

I personally prefer the official one. It just looks better to me, and I think it has something to do with how smooth it looks, like it hopped right off an 80s cartoon cel.

Fun fact, in the G1 cartoon there actually was at least 1 (possibly more) occasion where he was holding a mini version of himself in gun mode, and dual wielding that with his left arm cannon.
