I've read a book! It was Kimi's and these are a few of my thoughts on what it was like. BTW, my book, The Mechanic is out today in paperback form, here's the link if you'd like a copy. amzn.eu/d/2EOCyDZ
How did the car feel today is a great question. Setup is key to Kimi's performance. The mundane stupid questions are the ones related to : His motivation Contract Would somebody else win in his car
#ask Elvis : do you think it will be possible in the future for you to attend a few F1 races as an independent reporter? It would seem, with your friends there, we could benefit from some quick chats with various teams.
I also read it Marc. It took me about 2 hours to read i enjoyed it so much. You are also mentioned in the book as one of the few trusted people Kimi knows in f1. great story. I also ordered your book as well. His comments and replies in interviews is so telling of the truth in the book. Thats why people love him.
I read the first chapter last night and I know it’s going to be a awesome read. Yours is really awesome, I’m on my second play through the audio book version and love every bit of it.
I have ordered this book and yours too Marc. Can't wait till they get here. P.S. I have to look away from the screen when the autofocus starts going crazy. It is indeed nausea inducing.
I hate when some of the Kimi haters think he is just dumb and too stupid for current day F1. Kimi is one of the drivers with the gift of knowledge to give such detailed and accurate feedback. Some other drivers find out its mindblowing sometimes. A real natural racing talent. This book is on my Christmas list for sure.
I am so happy that you have mentioned the horrible questions Kimi gets asked! People like Scott Mitchell keeps asking pointless questions then they criticize him for not giving anything to the media. I feel like if people who cover the sport did a better job the negativity around F1 would be far less.... Thanks a lot Marc for the videos you are making! Great content and love how you are not biased towards drivers. As a Turkish fan of F1 watching through Sky commentary with F1TV it gets frustrating sometimes. I will like every video and share it for sure!
I'm a Kimi fan & think he doesn't get the recognition he deserves for his F1 career. But also I don't believe he's beyond criticism. He gets paid millions of dollars each year. Scott Mitchell is a very good & professional journalist who has a genuine love of F1 & writes interesting pieces that can be provocative but are backed up by facts.
Ahhhhh, you missed Rally Catalunya by 2 days, I recon it was around the area where you were. It was such an exciting rally! I wonder do you follow WRC and what do you think about it? I know it's not very popular, and less exciting to most people and less tv-friendly unlike F1, but this season has been just incredible. I have a feeling with rally it's you either don't care at all or you are a die hard fan.
You've sold the Kimi book to me.. To be honest I was always going to buy it anyway, but your review helped.. I'll order it tonight (along with a certain 'other' F1 paperback that's out now).. So that's the Hardback, Paperback and Kindle version ticked.... You need to get cracking on book No.2.. Any clues yet as to its content???
Added to my wish list, alongside yours. However, it would not be fair to say that this is an unbiased review, would it? I mean, a book by *any* celebrity which you know personally is always going to rate fairly high on the interest scale. I guess that most of your followers are 'into' racing, so we would be interested in any case. Still...As an expatriate Geordie, I am waiting for Rob Smedley's tell-all book!
Local pub lol do they sell Elvis beer? I think what makes Kimis book is that he's been so private. I'm.trying to get into Kimis book but it's not as easy as yours to read
#askElvis How do f1 mechanics react with the drivers after their has been an unusual amount of mechanical failures in one car; like what is happening to Daniel Ricciardo.
The name is wordplay of one of the most famous Finnish books (famous among Finnish people, I mean 😂). We have second world war book called "the unknown soldier", so "unknown Kimi Räikkönen" is like twist of that in a sense that he is fighter in his own job and maybe life too sometimes 🙂
Nowadays I don't buy books in Hungary, because translation can distort the original version. I used to "reverse engineer" words that sticks out of the context of the book and also the context of "making sense" . Sometimes it's just not possible to translate something because it uses "tricks" from that language. But a lot of times it's just stupidity. 2 examples from Kimi's book: - wheelspin: it refers to when the rear wheels are rotating without traction - head case: it refers to when someone is stupid In Kimi's book "wheelspin" is translated: the tyres were rotating. And "head case" is translated throughout the book as a container for someone's head. Yeah I know it's nothing to do with Kimi or the writer of the book.
Well good luck reading the book in Finnish if you want to be sure that everything is like the original writer intended 😉 But yes, it's likely translation of translation from Finnish to English to Hungary. So some meanings can totally be lost 🤔🤷♀️😃
@@magicofshootingstar5825 yeah, looks like I'm gonna pass the finnish version. 😉 But, buying books in English works for me. The latest is the John Barnard book. I thoroughly enjoy it.
@@magicofshootingstar5825 Although, if you think about it "wheelspin" and "head case" comes from English and not Finnish. Wheelspin is taken out of a post race interview, and head case is just so English you cannot miss it. Also: everyone in F1 speaks English (during a race weekend at least). So, the book was written by a Finnish writer, but when he was there with Kimi to "sample" the environment of F1, he heard everything in English. So, even the Finnish original had a lot of translation from English to Finnish. And I think the English version of the book was translated to Hungarian (just because it's easier). Not easy, huh? 😉
Well that's good point too about paddock being in English. Though when speaking with Kimi about technical stuff they most likely used still the Finnish versions of the words. 🤔 Though sometimes Kimi throws technical terms in English even in Finnish interviews. So who knows 🤷♀️ Also the writer wasn't really motorhead, so there might be mistakes on technical understanding because of that too 😃
Would be nice for his last two races at sauber to give interviews of Daniel ricciardo proportions 😂 I also think the drivers should get together and let Fernando Alonso win Abu Dhabi 👌
