MTEL Prep Session: English Subject Test 

Hi! I am a special educator and I did not study English in college, but I needed to take one subject matter MTEL in order to obtain my license. Despite passing my first two MTELs, I had been putting this specific exam off for over a year because I was not confident that I would pass. I had such a hard time finding any resources - even costly MTEL prep courses were hard to find. When I found this video, I really buckled down. I passed the English 07 on my first try!!! This was the most helpful tool in my studying process, along with the resources you provided . I cannot thank you enough for creating this session and for making it free and accessible to all. I am so grateful for this session, and I know it is a huge reason behind why I was able to pass my MTEL and obtain my license. THANK YOU! :)

I have my MTEL English 061 Test this Tuesday November 21, 2023. I have started watching this video today. After watching its first twenty minutes, I feel like I am going through each and every details provided on this video. Thanks so much for this! I am considering getting a third certification in English (I am currently certified in history and music). I am a bit worried when I hear you recommend that test takers pay attention in their English classes etc. Is it possible for a 52-year-old without an English degree to pass this test? Thanks for the input!

This was really helpful, as I was not a literature major rather I got my masters in education but sad fact they didn’t prepare us for any of the subject mtels. I have two questions - 1. In the past when I took a prep class for my Foundations of Reading test she gave us tips of notes to set up on our own to help it become memorized. Do you have any suggestions similarly? 2. Is there a chance there will be a video going over the open response as well for the English test?

Why do all the questions seem college/ high school oriented? I see next to nothing for middle school.

Having taken that test, I believe some of the documents you show in a Google drive folder, around 18:26, could be helpful.
