MTHFR gene mutations are a very important topic for mental health. These MTHFR genetic mutations affect more than 57% of the population. The most common genetic SNPS are MTHFR C677T and MTHFR A1298C.
In this video Dr Janelle Sinclair discusses MTHFR gene mutation symptoms (MTHFR symptoms) and MTHFR indicators. MTHFR and depression, and MTHFR and anxiety will be covered. MTHFR is also very important for Schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, infertility, migraine, and Cardiovascular disease. She also talks about the biochemical consequences of a MTHFR mutation including enzyme activity for MTHFR homozygous C667T (MTHFR C6ttT mutation), MTHFR heterozygous C677T and MTHFR homozygous A1298C.
Here's a link to a review article on MTHFR genetic mutations and the associated diseases.

Hi Dr Janelle. What is the different between taking folate or folic acid as supplement for MTHFR C677T homoz? Thank you
@DrJanelleSinclair
@DrJanelleSinclair 3 года назад
@@cristinabereghi5625 methylfolate is the supplement that you want to take. It's the active folate molecule. Folic acid is synthetic and has to be processed by the body. The mthfr genetic weakness means that you can't process the folic acid molecule well into the active methylfolate that the body needs.

Dr Janelle Sinclair thank you for your reply. I read that taking folic acid might actually be problematic in case of this polymorphism, but I have not managed to find the reasoning for this. Could you please clarify? Highly appreciated.

My doctor did an MTHFR Genotype Analysis (Blood Test) and my results say C677T mutation Heterozygous and A1298C mutation Heterozygous. I looked it up and it ticked a lot of boxes regarding my health. Thankfully I made several lifestyle changes many years ago, but I will be watching your other videos to see what you recommend. Thanks for this explanation. I’ve started taking an activated B complex and it doesn’t make me vomit like I did when I took a B complex once (before I knew I had MTHFR) I don’t generally eat bread, but if I do, I stick to gluten free (home made), trying to cut back on coffee, I only drank 2 cups a day, but now down to 1, trying to eat more fruits and vegetables, particularly the greens, and add in more legumes. I only got my results a few months ago and so I’ve only really started my journey. Will let you know more about the health benefits as I know.

Thanks Janelle. I think I might have one of these gene variations, but am going to test to find out. My daughter was born with tongue and lip tie (which has caused us all sorts of problems), which is what prompted me to look into this further, as well as depression and bi-polar in our family. Also - totally not related, but I just wanted to say I love the blouse you are wearing in this video :)

But what is you have the CB6677 homozygous and you also have the upregulation for sulfur. So I would love to get more folate in my diet for my mutation but I friggin can't because of my upregulation with sulfur dumping. What am I to do? This is a serious problem for me. Causes terrible fatigue and anxiety. I've tried reccomended B supplements too like P5P and they make me feel like I'm losing my mind.

So many people creating RU-vid content about MTHFR mutation , they're basically saying that the mutation is a load of nonsense. That its all hype and nothing beyond. Noone here is stating this , but I am just going to rant. My pregnancies were tough and this is what led me to finding out I had this mutation. My babies had severe inner uterine growth restrictions due to my mthfr and factor 5. It really scared me , esp with my first. She was born at 33 weeks , 3 lbs 2 oz. I would not wish for any new momma to get the surprise at 3rd trimester that their baby is not growing right for unknown reasons and to prepare for NICU. They could not even assure me that She would be stable after delivery. I was told to also prepare that she may need to be immediately taken to receive proper attention. I thought I did something wrong and blamed myself so i isolated so to avoid sharing this news with friends. I thought the worst , that It was like i had killed her somehow. Its stupid sad saying it even now. . I know so many wonderful woman have to grief much deeper losses in their pregnancy / delivery stories.... I recognize I was nothing but blessed and i definitely dont intend to victimize mysellf. It is just that to say mthfr is essentially NOTHING is realy ignorant. It clearly isnt nothing. . . I also do believe this may be why i have such chronic depression. Im here to learn more about it and plan to test my daughters for it too, as it might be a big factor to understanding & supportung them properly.

So prior to synthetic folic acid being put in foods and supplements , having the MTHFR mutation was absolutely no different from everyone else, because there was no folic acid and everyone needs natural folate anyway? Isnt it more like a modern folic acid disorder then?

It would be nice if you could the percentages for people that are compound heterozygous. I was tested back in 2004 after 2 fetal demises. I have followed the research as they have discovered more. People that are new to finding out may not realize that being compound heterozygous is considered as serve if not more than homozygous because yellow on both charts doesn’t look bad.

I have a question for you. I am a 44 year old man who had sex with a woman a few days ago. I pre-ejaculated as I have erectile dysfunction from type 2 diabetes and came within seconds of me being inserted into her. I know that it is a slight chance of getting a woman pregnant from pre-ejaculation as I read online, but I know it is still possible. I also have a major blood clotting disorder where I am homozygous for MTHFR and heterozygous for Factor V Leiden. I have had multiple clots to my leg and my lungs and am on Warfarin for life for which it is a high dosage. The woman I was with has no clotting disorders that she is aware of.
