We rolled into Sloth Party after work and had about an hour of light before it got dark. It gets dark so early in the winter! On the bright side, no pun intended, the water level is low because its been dry. I started digging near the edge on one side where all kinds of topsoil and dirt had fallen in and it has been a soupy mess but today it was dry enough to dig in it. Slop Fest! Everything was covered in mud which made it difficult to see anything, but there were plenty of shark teeth in it so I kept it up as long as I could because I was having luck in the muck! Eventually I moved closer to where diva was digging. The rocks weren't as thick but they were cleaner and it made it easier to see what I was doing. That's where I found my bigger ones today. I'll be back to the muck though, that's good layer over there!

You can definitely do a video for your hundredth meg tooth. And then do a follow-up with everything. Congratulations on another video that was awesome.

Awesome finds 👏👏👏 The Angustiden/ chub could be a transitional tooth where it's starting to loose the cusps. It's a great find. Thank you for your video I do appreciate it.

i agree i think that's what it is too. the nub on the left side is too much for a meg and too little for an angy. thanks for watching!

Awesome finds on this trip! That whale ear bone surely is a beast of a find too. I can imagine you have found some gigantic verts in your years of hunting also.

Not only is it a blast watching you...going to have to have one someday again. 30 years ago I bought one in a giftshop in California. Don't have a clue to what happened to it? I have a habit of getting and giving.

30 years is a long time to keep up with something bought in a gift shop! There are plenty of the available online nowadays though so you shouldn't have a problem finding another. Thanks for watching me dig them up!

Hello, my name is Chris May. I am from Buffalo, NY. I had always been fascinated with fossils and especially shark teeth. Your RU-vid videos fueled that fire in me to the point where, last year I told my fiancée we had to book an AirBNB somewhere where I could start looking. Since then we have found a fair share of teeth over a couple trips to Florida and South Carolina. From scouting out creeks to sift in, dredge islands to explore or beaches to walk with a flashlight we have done “ok”. I have since gotten certified for scuba diving and started buying all my own gear in the hopes of expanding the hunting grounds. To this point I have gone off suggestions, RU-vid videos and trial/error scouting to find what we have. I wanted to reach out and ask if you would have any interest in meeting my fiancée and myself when we are in Summerville, SC next week for about 10 days. We would love to just meet you and possibly see some of the collection you have! I am bringing my scuba gear with me but not sure what possibilities there might be. For the most part we plan on hunting a few creeks I was able to find and pull good teeth out of last year, walking a few beaches and trying to get out to a few dredge islands. If there was any chance of meeting you guys and treating you to dinner and/or a few drinks we would love the chance! Especially just to talk with a couple about something we have became totally obsessed of! Would love to hear back from you! Best contact would be call/text (716) 861-4141 Hope to talk to you! Thanks, Chris May.

Just an FYI I’m not trying to impede on your spots or look for info on where to go. I would really like to meet someone that has the same passion (with much more experience). Where we’re from there aren’t many people that even know these exist. If anything I just wanted to say thanks for putting out awesome content! It has definitely helped us in our adventures!

@@christophermay9960 i appreciate the message! sure I'll meet up with y'all for a coffee or something while you're in town. IDK if Diva will come or not because her collecting schedule is much more rigorous than mine but I'll let her know. email me ditchweezil at blackriverfossils dot org and we'll figure it out.

It's been some years since I've gone fossil hunting but I'm hoping I will get to go in the near future once I get transportation. I miss fossil hunting.

98 Meg teeth. Keep going! Question: You find many more Angustiden teeth in relation to the number of Megalodon teeth. Do you think that is because more Angustidens were swimming around or were the Angustidens around longer?
@blackriverfossils
@blackriverfossils 5 месяцев назад
we find way more angustidens than most anything else here in the charleston area. there are a large number of smaller (between 1 and 2 inches) specimens found, so probably the environment here was well suited for juveniles. the ashley and chandler bridge formations preserved them well too.
