If you've been watching my channel over the past few months you know I've been keeping a running tally on all the megalodon teeth I've been finding at Sloth Party, our epic shark tooth and fossil hunting site near Charleston South Carolina. At last count I had found 98 teeth from the extinct giant white shark and I am awe struck that the number is that high. I'm inching towards the triple digit milestone, and while that's barely a day in the office for commercial divers, its a big deal for land collecting. Over nearly three decades of consistent collecting I have been a lot of places and dug a bunch of holes, and there have been plenty of spots where I found in the neighborhood of 20 of the big fossil shark teeth, I've never come anywhere close to the success I've seen at this spot. Its a remarkable location with an unparalleled concentration of meg teeth, and the formation is as good as I've ever seen but I think the real reason for the success is the amount of time I've been able to spend there. Thinking back, I can't remember being able to dig a site for this long. They've always been short-lived, open for just a week or two before they were forever closed to collecting. But Sloth Party has been open for months and Diva and I have been knee deep in it since day one. I wonder if I'd been able to collect some of the other sites in past for so long if I would have been as successful? I'll never know obviously but I am certainly grateful for the opportunity to experience this once-in-a-lifetime megalodon tooth digging site. Enough with my stroll down memory lane and on with the the road to one hundred!
