I have been watching Star Trek since 1968, and this game is something I have enjoyed and never thought possible growing up in that time. Right now your videos seem nothing more than about greed. If you care about the series or Gene, I suggest you work towards it.
I'm not planning to get this particular bundle. The Iktomi is the only ship I am interested in, however, it is fairly easy to get via the exchange or through the lobi store. The Freedom would have been nice for my Kelvin themed alt, but I already have the Legendary Intel Battlecruiser. Which is prettier than the Franklin and is a full spec intel ship.
because its those people gamble with keys like the Atlas for DPRM, Spearhead Refit for UD & the D7 for ruin. You put those in mudss and there would no longer be a need to gamble and profits would sink. There are def better overall bundles than this from mudds just depends on bundles ect people are into. If you took the phoenix store ships and put them in mudds people would go for them but too much dil is dumped into it for it to be worth that happening either.
Can you imagine anyone spending $300 on some ingame items, even $30 on ingame items is a lot when you can get entire games for around $50-$80, e.g. Cyberpunk and the Phantom Liberty game is £54 here in the UK so I assume it's about the same in the US. Also given the somewhat uncertain future of STO at the moment I'm surprised anyone would stump up for this bundle, especially considering the ships are pretty much irrelevant nowadays, sure PO is great but you only need it on one toon if at all, build in enough uncons combined with boimlers and I'd argue it's not required at all. No surprise about the blog errors, I think Kael probably spent more time on his LinkIn post and his new website and rushed this out at the last minute. Wish you were doing Elder Scrolls online vids Spencer, your careful reasoned analysis is sorely missing on many content creators for that game. Thanks for the vid.
Yeah, the pricing for things in STO is insane given that there isn't really any content to justify most purchases. As for ESO, just not the biggest fantasy fan. Could never get into Skyrim Been very burnt out with STO the past few months. So I have been playing other games a bit more recently. Finished the Days Gone storyline, and been trying Destiny 2 out again. But unlikely I'll do videos for more games near term.
There's something up with the audio I think? Your voice kind of has a strange "echo" like effect, like Protoss from Starcraft and Eldar in WH40k games. I saw this bundle show up on the news page and immediately thought, "Iktomi is carrying this entire thing like Atlas." I have the Iktomi & Vonph from back when they were originally introduced. Vonph is okay but I got her back when I was all-in on the Herald ships. One of my toons had all the Herald ships. Last time I used the Vonph was last year, just for kicks. It'll get the job done as a 2-hangar Carrier. FYI the Herald console set leans heavily towards Exotic, especially the Vonph's console. But the Vonph itself is a Cmdr TAC ship, you have no Secondary Deflector. The highest SCI station you have is LtCmdr only. Iktomi? Decent SCI Vessel but you're really only getting this ship for 2 possible reasons: 1. You like the Tholian theme 2. You're grabbing and mastering the really nice trait and using it on another ship. I have the Iktomi on one of my Feds that used to run a Tholian theme. She had all the Tholian ships. Iktomi will get the job done as a SCI Vessel. As a full on SCI Vessel, she actually is the best of the Tholian ships to use if you want to have some use out of the console set of these ships. Like the Herald ship consoles, the Tholian console set leans very heavy on Exotic builds. The Web Generator console looks cool, it's an iconic thing to see in the game, and it's fun to use... If it works right. It's very unreliable for 2 reasons. Very large targets often "break" the web immediately once you use it. Targets that spam BFAW wreck the web field real quick. I never parsed it, but looking at the resulting loss of HP on the enemy caught in the web? Didn't do much. You use the console just for cool looks. It's not really going to do anything in a battle. Last thing is related to the Tholian console set. The Tholian Tarantula has the Web Cannon console. The clicky ability on that console, to get the most use out of it, requires heavy Exotic building and high Aux power. The Iktomi being a SCI Vessel and having all the tools to make the best use of Exotic builds is the superior platform to use the Web Generator console on than the Tarantula. The Tarantula doesn't have enough "oomph" in Science oriented builds for the same reasons why the Herald Vonph isn't the best platform for her own console set. No Cmdr SCI, no Secondary Deflector. Instead of Cmdr SCI like the Iktomi, the Tarantula has Cmdr ENG with no specialization. She only has 3 SCI Console slots. I don't know if a properly built up Science Build is going to help you make the Web Cannon a DPS Winner while on the Iktomi, but it is one of those single use, hard hitting abilities. The Web Cannon roots you in place as it charges up and needs the target(s) to be in front of you. What you want to do is Gravity Well a bunch of targets and then use the Web Cannon on them for fat damage. The blast is a cone AOE in front of you, so you can hit multiple targets. I did this mostly on the Tarantula but Iktomi did this better. Do understand that if you're CC'ing a bunch of targets like this, often they're going to shift fire on you immediately. Be ready for the reprisal while the Web Cannon roots you and charges up. Of all the Tholian Consoles, the Web Cannon was the most fun. However, it's from the Tarantula, not the Iktomi, but the Iktomi is the best platform for using it.
Damn, looks like the noise suppression was not working as well as I thought it was. That's it trying to remove a fan from background audio. But seems to have messed up this time :( The web cannon can do a bit of damage when buffed up, but the long activation time just kills it for most gameplay.
I find it fascinating that you are the only person that has made a video about this bundle, especially as they finally put the tholian iktomi in a mudd's bundle. Yet everyone is silent about it, weird...
I’ve said it before and I’ll keep saying it. No Mudd’s Bundles are worth it at 50% off. If they ever do 75% off again (chances of slim to none), then this bundle doesn’t hit my top three picks. I already have IPO on two toons, and the Iktomi is relatively cheap on the exchange.
I own one Vonph. I like it for the look, and the bridge, but it is a god-awful ship to fly. I play at 1080p (old eyes can't see higher resolutions unless it's a 40" monitor lol), and at 1080p, maximum zoom-out, the Vonph is still the full height of the screen. The Iktomi account-wide is something I've wanted for a long time for the trait, but I can't justify spending an additional $100 for two other items from the bundle...
The other day when they announced this I had my skepticism on standby. Looks like I was prepared. Another bundle of ships that are _almost_ what someone would want.
And we will for certain have a Key sale and loads of sales about this time next month. Black friday should be a Zen charge bonus + 25% off everything in c-store.
I want IPO on 4 toons (and want to fly the iktomi on a 5th) even then I don't think this bundle is worth it. 1.25bn cost to.get those ships for 5 toons, and nothing else would take my fancy. The other ships have nothing going for them bar their rarity. I have 5x t6 coupons sitting gathering dust. I don't open lockboxes (nor have anything I want to buy for lobi and if I did I have 3x uncracked event campaign boxes for that.) The t6x tokens are far cheaper in phoenix event and all my gear across 23 toons is 15 epic so no need for ultimate upgrades either! Afraid it's a hard pass. But what it does allow me to do is buy the iktomis now. Because I was waiting to see if it would go in a mudds with some other good things that I DID want. And now that it hasn't I know it never will!
Great review. I'll be skipping. I have Iktomis on the two toons that really need the trait and may one day pick one up for a science alt. Other than that, nothing here compels.
That's why these bundles are sad. We need account wide options when a ship first comes out. Like a zen/Lobi buyout of a lockbox or promo ship that unlocks it account wide.
I'm not spending more money in the game until the insane lag that started happening after last week's patch is corrected. I've been playing since Day 1 and the lag has never been this bad before. I used to have SNR from time to time although it has been years since the last time this happened but right now the lag is making the game unplayable. The game freezes and I there are times when I can even click on anything. I asked my guilmates and some of them have the same problem but others have no issue. I did a trace and the problem appears to come from somewhere in Boston which is where I suppose the server is.
@@edwardcruz6233 It's not. And there are other people complaining of the same problem on the forums. The bottleneck starts at the server. THis might time to finally say goodbye to the game. I spent way too much money in this game.
I didn't do a comparison for each ship as the main appeal to these ships is their accessories and/or visuals. Had limited recording time yesterday, so with those factors, felt that comparisons were the easiest part to cut to save time.
I don't think STO itself is going anywhere anytime soon. But layoffs for some of the STO team are sadly possible, and that would impact pace of future development.
Who is stupid enough to spend $150 let alone $300 for items on a 10+ yr old game??? Drop the prices by another 50% across the board then more people might actually buy something
Great review, very succinct. This bundle wasn't for me and had little of interest in it. The ships have aged out and in my humble opinion and many of the free ships we have gotten in the last few years are superior to them. Not to mention some very good C Store Ships. Thanks again and take care
