This is probably one of the few shows where you could explain the sudden influx of miracles to a Deus Ex Machina in all seriousness, since there is an entity that acts as a Machine "God".
It's rushed, but it's only part of Mugendragmon, and as a whole, Digital Monsters' larger background story. After all, Mugendramon, and all other Andromon, are constructs by Analogue Man, and we still see Brain Hack's effects in Digimon Adventure despite a world reset between Digimon World and Adventure. Mugendramon's gloating does make gleaming sense from its original history, as after its defeat and Jijimon spreading Mugendramon's data was spread across the Digital World without form (which caused the side effect of breaking evolution ceiling to a higher tier.) The problem rises when during Adventure Mugendramon is resurrected as a Dark Master, but unlike its previous incarnation, it has a brain. Yggdrasil doesn't give a damn about all these battles to a large extent, but Homeostasis being the higher tier god of the Digital World, does step in, because Jijimon's gamble to spread Mugendramon's data and its following resurrection has caused it to become effectively immortal the way you can have a Digimon incarnate back as an egg. Difference with Mugendramon is that as its role as a weapon, it wants and needs to be stronger than its opponent. Its background in this and gleeful laughter hits the spot, and most likely Piemon wasn't even aware the true origin of Mugendramon due to the nature of world reboot. You have Yggdrasil setting up Royal Knights after Adventure, Our War Game has Digital Jihadist Omegamon enter the fray, until we get to the Dark Spores in 02 and Chimeramon. Mugendramon's defeat in Adventure didn't kill it as Homeostasis intended due to the whole floating data thing. Unlike last time, now it calculate a method to become a perpetual existence even in future defeats. Despite Yggdrasil permitting Magnamon to evolve through sacrifice of another Digimon, Chimeramon's destruction left with no brain. This is where Mugendramon's data fuses with the hollow body of Chimeramon, forming Millenniumon, which as a side effect creates Apocalymon. This is also why Millenniumon has a ghost of Mugendramon above Chimeramon's body. Millenniumon is an issue for Yggdrasil and Homeostasis, because neither can match it, and it still yearns for more strength and power, and Adventure and 01 world doesn't provide any. Millenniumon's power is to create new dimensions, and that's what it does; it begins to dimension hop, creating all the alternative universes that different Digimon stories take place. However, being all-powerful with no real opposition makes a dull existence, until he meets Ryo, the Tamer who is able to affect other Partner's Evolution. Ryo is a result of Millenniumon hopping around, and takes interest in Ryo, resulting it hunting Ryo down almost like sport. Because time isn't an issue, Millenniumon and Ryo end up hopping through Adventure and 02, in during which we see Ryo in Ken's flashback where something (Millenniumon) shoots a Dark Spore at Ken, ensuring a Möbius strip loop of its own birth even if that particular Millenniumon would be defeated. Ryo mostly has Monodramon with him, but in reality its just a wild Digimon that Millenniumon forced with him, for sport and challenge. At an untold point, the Millenniumon corners Ryo as it has become bored again, and tells Ryo he simply wants to be the most powerful existence. Defeating cretins is laughably easy, but as long as something like Homeostasis exists, there is a threat to it. Only way to become stronger is connect with a human, as it witnesses as Mugendramon when Hiro defeated it and again with Agumon Warp Evolving, and Ryo agrees. He fuses Millenniumon and Monodragmon into Cyberdramon and begin hop from universe to universe to fight anyone strong enough, until Tamers' universe is reached. D-Reaper interests Cyberdramon, and with Matrix Evolution becoming a thing, it finally found the way to become its strongest natural form, to become a Tamer as Justimon. However, all these compound the issue of Cyberdramon and other Digimon regressing in the Human World, which can cause it to revert all the way back to the very core soul of Millenniumon into Moon=Millenniumon and may cause the release of Zeed Millenniumon. So while Mugendramon's story is hamfisted for time, it still retains the elements what stood in Digimon World's Mugendramon being a weapon and needing to be strong, Analogueman's influence of wanting to become strongest with an army of Mugendramons, as well as the freak nature of its data after Jijimon spread it across Digital World. Incidentally, this also makes all Digimon media canon.
This is a pretty lengthy comment and I feel as if I should reply to it through a video as it bring up a topic I've wanted to address for a while now. Some of that will concern matters I also want to cover in the Piedmon section of the Dark Masters Arc, so that'll probably come soon. I've a lot of projects on my plate right now, so stay tuned! I know you are trying to tie all the series together, but it really doesn't work. The game is not connected to the anime, with the exception of Ryo in Tamers.
I always had assumed Mugendramon caused the machinery in WareMonzaemon's room to short circuit and blow up using his side of the relay, though on closer watch the sparks I could've sworn I had seen are missing from the scene, just sound effects. I guess another more morbid idea is that Mugendramon forcefully has his forces implanted with bombs to prevent insubordination. That'd fit with his ruthless and cold personality.
Yes, I'd considered that too; that Mugendramon's control of the tech inside the city offered him.the ability to cause that tech to explode on command. Still, there should have been s precedent set beforehand, maybe more episodes showing the extent of his power over Spiral Mountain's city realm.
I recently approved a few comments from you that RU-vid, for whatever reason, hid from me. Took me some time to figure out how RU-vid shows or hides comments, but I figured it out eventually. Some of the stuff was an interesting read and I'm still working through it.
So the thing about Mugendramon is, as soon as the kids were dealt with, he WOULD have gone after Piedmon. And he most likely would have won. Mugendramon is an absolute monster, and push come to shove, he DOES have another form beyond his current one (though I don’t think it had been introduced into the lore yet, and I don’t mean Milleniummon). WarGreymon only beat Mugendramon because he was specifically designed for the task, plus the miracle that even allowed him to evolve in the first place. Had this not taken place, Mugendramon would probably have become the undisputed ruler of both worlds, if not just destroying them. The only thing at this point that could stop him is Apocalymon, and he would have just done the same thing.
I always interpreted the big city and the Numemon being slave labor as a statement about how the luxury of some is often based upon the suffering of others.
Sometimes I wonder if the run had been cut down and so they had to rush the ending a bit. Cause for sure if we gotten more episodes the other Dark Masters would have gotten more screen time and maybe more character. Machinedramon for sure is the most powerful of the 4, thanks to its infinite power, Piedmon the cunning leader, MetalSeadramon being more all around fighter and Puppetmon im not sure actually
In episode 48 Taichi is bothered by his past where he felt Hikari almost died because of him asking her playing soccer while Hikari suffered from tuberculosis.
Digimon 2020 Mugendramon/Machinedramon shows what this warmonger digimon can really do. He doesn't ever move, he just stay in place firing lasers from every port on its body destroying everything around it, and launches its claw with deadly intent.
25:00: The English Dub actually gave Andromon narration AND Tai actually does punch Izzy, only to come back to his senses in a moment...THEN the continue fighting when they hear someone. I also like how the musical choice doesn't make a big deal over the Numemon we barely knew, never understood why the original used such a beautiful score for something so ordinary. Also, it's not uncharacteristic at all. Machinedramon is a soft-spoken sadist. @27:50: It's the classic one hit-kill, but to prove that the other guy put up a bit of fight leave a gash, Mugen/Machinedramon, unlike MetalSeadramon, actually did damage WarGreymon. But I diagree with Andromon getting killed off, that would pretty much nullify the point of Kari being so selfless and innocent that even complete strangers hurt has an affect.
Great analysis. Machinedramon (or mugendramon, I like both) was always my favourite dark master. So many great ideas in these two episodes, but the execution was rushed and poor. I wish the final fight between machinedramon and wargreymon had been longer, and more difficult

Many people got some wrong and strange idea about Machinedramon/Mugendramon. That thing is basically Mewtwo of the Digimon. In the Tri that was just his brainless weakass clone. His Japanese name is Mugendramon, Mugen means infinity. He's considered the strongest Mega Digimon (excluding the Mega Fusions). In the Japanese version he is clearly described as ''strongest digimon''. Wargreymon would never ever manage to defeat him if the miracle didn't help him. Even then if you watch that scene carefully Machindramon managed to kick Wargreymon's ass with just a single hit and it was HIS NORMAL ATTACK... nothing boosted him. Wargreymon did beat him because Hikaris' crest created ''Miracle'' + Thousands of Nunemon's data + Wargreymon's dramon boost combined in single attack.... Wargreymon knew if he missed that they would be all dead. Dub version gave many wrong idea to audience, he is considered as the strongest digimon in the many Digimon Games when it comes to normal Mega Digimon (excluding super fusions) and his last evolution (after Wargreymon defeated him he still survives and this is a canon story) became the biggest threat of the Digiworld ever seen until that time.... Piedmon wasn't the strongest of the dark masters but Machinedramon was (Japanese version made this very clear in their introduction scene). Piedmon was the smartest and biggest manipulator just like Joker in the DC Universe. He handled Wargreymon and Metalgarurumon thanks to his tricks but when the rest learned how his tricks work they easily kicked his ass.... literally he got stopped by an Ultimate Digimon.... If it was Machinedramon vs Piedmon... Result would be the same result what Bane vs Joker would be.... Bane/Machinedramon would break the clown thousands of times... If 2020 brings him back (which I 100% believe they will) and does him with justice, you'll see how strong he's this time because producers heard complaints of the audience just he was given 2 very weak episodes which didn't even focus on him in Adventures.... and in Tri he was just mess just like many other things
@@matsmith6018 yes I just watched it as live... it was amazing... but it was incomplete form (it requires some other machine digimon's parts to be full mode) I believe it wasn't the last time we saw Mugendramon in the Adventures Reboot. The writers really like it for sure
HolyAngemon isn’t just *any* old ultimate, though. He almost put Blackwargreymon away, too. He’s one beast of an ultimate against Nightmare Soldiers/Virus Digimon, anyway, and Piedmon was able to resist attacks from Angewomon too, not just Wargreymon and MetalGarurumon. But it is true that Machinedramon is a lot stronger than Piedmon. I mean, Piedmon even took some damage from Garudamon (not a lot, but still some, whereas Myotismon was completely unaffected by her in his debut.) Whereas Machinedramon is a beast when it comes to defences, as well as attack, being made as a weapon. His origin is basically like Mewtwo’s, that’s true. Though in terms of personality they’re nothing alike, lol.
I get the impression Mugendramon was supposed to be a representation of the dark side of achievement and meritocracy present in Japanese society. He is the carp that has done the impossible and become a dragon, but sacrificed everything resembling humanity to do it. Only dragons and machines can survive in his city of perfection and death.
Machinedramon had the most embarrassing death. He's also a dramon digimon and it's implied he's stronger than MetalSeadramon yet put up less of a fight and was one shot destroyed, LOL. Even Puppetmon who was one shot killed by a fresh Metalgarurumon put up a much better fight against Wargreymon and it's implied Puppetmon is weaker.
Probably the rate at which I upload my videos and the fact that I'm not actively taking advantage of the algorithm in a manner that would push them out there. I don't click-bait my video titles or thumbnails, or if I do it's done in humor. Regardless, I'm not really concerned with my sub count. I think the quality of the people who do sub is more worthwhile than the amount of people.
I'd have loved it if he simply said "Nuke the entire city from orbit." And then when everyone looks at him in shock, he just looks back and says, "It's the only way to be sure."
@@whattheegad it would've given his minions some more depth. But maybe the writers were trying to tone down the violence. That could be why the city had no inhabitants. But at this point all they've done is kill everyone the whole arc

When you mentioned Plan Z, it conjured the image in my head of a cold and calculating mechanical dragon monster, packing all the heat and with forces under his control, doing a silly and elaborate scheme for a hamburger recipe and it made me laugh.
Mugendramon is wasted potential. I'm having a hard time thinking of a Digimon villain that is more menacing than this hunk of Jurassic Steel. Mugendramon would become Millenniummon and do crazy time distortion stuff in obscure video game that no one outside japan played but its the backstory for Dark Spores AND Ryo from Tamers. Then we have Xros Wars&Tri bringing Mugendramon back as a dumb animal thing. He's supposed to be the ultimate machine life form, *0% organic matter.* WHY is he is portrayed like he's some wild beast? He's supposed to be a soulless robot, like Terminator. In fact, now that i think about it, WHY wasn't datamon the one to create Machindramon? it would mirror Ken creating Chimeramon, it would make so much sense.
its prob due to the connection in digimon world 1 were it debuted and was a mindless beast and prob boil down to two things first being how the program want it to do it evil intention or least so overwelm by it they become mindless and go on rampages the other reason Analogman being prob who created mugendramon made at first bas be a mindless killing machine that follows orders its smarts came later after the first mugen defeat at infinity mountain were the data spread to the digital world and all its versions and the salvage beast version prob crops up time and time being it was program like that at first or the smart ones are the exception not the norm thus why we see more mindless versions instead of the smart ones. also it wouldn't mirror unless datamon made it was being influnces in some why it will being the thing gains it infinite strength from a program of evil intension that was impliment in its core. also on somthing that somewhat not related i like to picture that mugendramon from adventure pre tri was the one from world 1 were after its defeat and castle destruction its data not only traveled to adventure digital world but Analogman smarts and evil imprinted on mugendramon thus making its now species given the ability to be smart and the mugen became the dark master later down the line millenniummon. witch gives reason why the big firing chicken from tamers was full on gents humans being some of there biggest probs came from humans with the d reaper, kurata going full on genocide with digimon, and Analogman being the cause of several (one of the dark master, world 1, next order and the whole millenniummon event) it stand reason why he saw them has a threat being they cause those problems .

I love your content, but you are not doing justice to episode 49. Machine/Mugendramon executing Warumonzaemon is the classical trope of supervillains. They have no empathy and their subordinates are just mere tools. In German, Machinedramon says "I have no further use for you. You are set free." And then an explosion kills him. What has happened is clearly communicated. On top: You already brought up the symbolism of hell and Warumonzaemon was like a demon-enforcer who enjoyed torturing the enslaved Numemon. What happens if you work for a superior devil and you are not useful anymore? You get killed and replaced. Retirement is not an option. We think of MD as a cold-calculating machine which only acts upon facts without emotions. But the truth is that no perfect objectivity exists and a lack of emotions/empathy causes severe destructive personality disorders. MD is likely a Malignant Narcissist and relishes in sadism. It doesn't get closer to a real-life devil than this.
