Gabby is the reason i left a 10 yr extremely abusive relationship ... its been 2 yrs I'm states away and i still wear hoodies and sunglasses and a baseball hat when i go out bc i live back in my home town.... I'm terrified still.... but I'm alive.. my 15 yr old son told me if we didnt escape he knew id be dead within 30 days. It's a hard road and there's not as much support as people think... during covid i lived in my car 4.5 months in winter with my dog bc no shelter would let me bring my dog. I'm so grateful for the petitos Gabby helped save my life and my kids and dogs life!

He told the Moab LE he was off his meds in the very early version on video of the traffic stop. IMO, mommy dearest found out about the incident and ordered him home thos 5 days to get back on them. The storage locker story was bs and mama probably told him not to bring Gabby. Either the new meds weren't monitored long enough or he stopped them so it ended badly.

@bettyir4302 we must have someone responsible to be looking as we are on a new medication or if you stopped one. You can change your behavior like a light switch. He had a temper, and it did came out maybe because he stopped his medication and started back without supervision. I remember taking something that made me very angry. To the top. Because I was aware of my situation I stopped the medication and changed as quickly as possible. He was young and didn't know all the affects of stopping medication. My family didn't know at the time when I attempted against my life. It was medication side effects. Never tried again. Doctors these days are more worry about their assess than keep a patient and family safe. It is so sad. Also, stopping medication is another issue that many people with mental disorders do. I am very good now and take it everyday as prescribed by my doctor. But it took years for me to be where I am now. I hope as soon anyone has a diagnosis, that they find a good support system with family, friends and doctors.

This is absolutely the right thing to do. I had lived in an efficiency apartment on a landlords property years ago. He was hot headed and would yell at his wife. As a woman myself i didnt ever say anything to him and i never had a chance to speak to her alone. Well a few months ago i learned that the wife was trying to leave him and he murdered her before un aliving himself as well. It was said that she may have had another relationship, but regardless he was a hot head with a bad temper. People who have bad tempers cant control themselves, never trust them. They left behund their children 😢 just tragic. Also, never come back to meet them to get your things at the house. Another woman in our town was murdered when she did that.

@@skeleton_wa_migraine1736 100%. Victims are often nice people, and feel they need to end things in person, like a decent person, but you're not dealing with another decent person, so never tell them. Dr. Lieberman- why is the burden placed on the woman to be “more careful of who we travel across the country with”- why isn’t the responsibility placed on the person who is responsible for the violence and coercion ?? It’s incredibly disheartening to hear how much weight is placed upon the woman to be able discern whether or not their partner is going to MURDER them….where is the accountability for the men? How about the reality is that a grown ass man could not handle the fact that he is being broken up with and instead of murdering his partner to…I don’t know… maybe NOT murder her and move on like most people do…

Yes, so true the victim takes the blame for their abuse, and/or makes excuses for them to protect the abuser. I didn't know why at the time. Gabby was so vivacious and a bright light.

Hold boys accountable, such as don't make excuses that boys will be boys. Dont let them manipulate you or parents with their tantrums. Explain rules to children, we do not hit, bite, or throw things at people bc it hurts. Teach them to control their rage and anger thru consequences, boundries, reserve no when absolutely necessary ( as in do not over use "No", Do not beat children. Studies show that physical punishment actually encourages violent behavior when they grow up. I might have that last one a bit skewy, double check me by looking up the research. Im no expert judt summarizing things ive heard and read thru the years on child rearing, tho indont know exactly why ithappens. Itwould be good to see if mothers of these types of people 1. breastfed 2. Stayed at home to raise children esp during formative years ( 0 - 5) bc both show better development of social and emotional attachment. Also, I heard on the behavior panel that lack of vitamin d during pregnancy may be linked ih people who are sociopathic but id have to look it up again.

I felt much like the description Brian wrote of himself, minus the manic episodes. I felt that way for nearly a decade. I DID seek help from mental health professionals, even voluntarily signed myself into a mental health facility twice...stayed in that system in one way or another for 5-6 years and only got worse. For everyone who believes that "just seeking help" is going to solve severe mental health issues, that is not always correct. What finally enabled me to recreate myself into the person I am today...balanced, loving life, loving people, taking joy in each day was meditation and help from online meditation experts such as Dr. Joe Dispenza. I am NOT defending Brian in any way, shape, form or fashion, but even the expert speaking here alludes to the fact that Brian did not create the monster he turned out to be. We all like to cast stones and think/say "Oh I would/could never do something so horrible." But just a little twist to our DNA, a different upbringing and such and any one of us could have been Brian.

Thanks for sharing this. I totally agree with you. I’m glad you’re out of that dark place. Life gets dark sometimes and everyone’s dark is different. So much of it stems from our experiences and environments during childhood- neither of which we choose. At that age, the thought of someone leaving you- is devastating. You aren’t used to dealing with that loss of “control”. I remember reeling after my worst break up.m in my 20’s. I literally almost begged for him to stay with me, even just talk to me and that’s so embarrassing looking back, but I remember how I felt. It was awful. And I could totally see how for some, that feeling sends them over the edge.

Anxiety the minute I met my now ex and the anxiety got worse as time went on. Left and my now husband no anxiety no abuse. My father would say gut instincts that’s where anxiety starts so girls listen to your gut and walk away fast. Anxiety is a sign run fast. We don’t need men anymore keep clear and wait for a good one. Men are killing us non stop so step back and live your life free of this. Poor girl too young to know better I get it.

Back when the Moab traffic stop first aired the conversation with BL, he said he was off his meds. Yes, he did but doubt anyone can find it today as it was quickly scrubbed. IMO, Roberta found out about the incident and ordered him home to get an appointment with this doctor. Remember, Gabby was dumped by herself for 5 days. Those 5 days they claimed he went home to clear out a storage locker. His sister said it was a locker, not a big storage unit. A locker takes maybe 5 minutes to clear out not 5 days. Bet his doctor put him back on meds but he wasn't monitored or it wasn't the proper dosage or when he got away from mommy dearest, he quit taking them which resulted in being so angry at the restaurant and grocery store.

That is so true when my son was in college he met a girl online they talked and then went out a couple of times he didn't see it going anywhere and was honest with her so she called and told him that she was in love with him and was going to harm herself. He called me at work and told me I told him to call the police and tell what she said and ask for a well check he did the took her in and she got help. She called him about 8 weeks later and told him that she was treated and better now that she knew what was wrong he told her he was glad and hope she had a wonderful life. He didn't have anymore contact with her.

While I applaud their highlighting mental health and mental health resources, let’s not pair the association with mental health diagnoses, abusive behavior, and homicidal behavior. Not everyone who is mentally ill commits murder and not everyone who commits murder is verifiably mentally ill. It only adds to the stigma and takes away responsibility from perpetrators.

That letter encapsulates what a DV relationship is like to a T, she had no idea when she wrote that letter that HE was the problem and not her but yet he manipulated her mind, she even mentions how he says she's silly and not worldy, putting her down for her dreams and passions. It's exactly what my ex did, I even wrote letters like that to my ex. I got out with my life after 12 years of h3ll but she didn't. My b9nes were broken but she was murdered. I just pray that her story inspires one person to leave their abusive relationship. Susan Powells and her children were murdered by Josh Powell and her story inspired me and gave me strength. Anyone going through this can leave and use the help of a shelter. God bless the Petitos, they are incredible and highly educated about DV. They are changing the world.

People need to realize that these were two young kids in love, probably when she told Brian she didn't want to be with him anymore he didn't know how to handle it, and if he had mental health issues he did something really stupid. Killing himself was not an easy way out, he knew he did something horribly wrong and took care of Justice himself.

Dr Lieberman - you need to not talk about DV victims as “these women” and the assertion that Gabby was partly responsible for her own death for not seeking help and “protecting these bad boys” is truly not the language that is accurate or acceptable and amounts to victim blaming. Feeling alone and isolated is likely the reason she did not seek help, which is common in DV
