Mushoku Tensei Is SPEEDRUNNING Through Season 2 

You light novel readers should know very well where the season 2 needs to end to get another season. While I understand your disappointment, I struggle to figure how you would pace it instead. If you count what needs to be covered in remaining episodes, crazy skip must happen somewhere. Hopefully we all feel better after finale of season 2.

I watched your video, and came to one conclusion. You are looking at it through the lens of a person who read the light novel and wanted a retelling of the light novel in anime form. That is not going to happen. These are two different media, something will not translate. Plus there is restrictions on how many resources they have and the episode count. I cannot think of anything they skipped in the episode that is important to the overall plot. Yes, there are elements that they skipped, but that would require resources/episode time that they would have had to pull from somewhere else.. They have a set number of minutes they have to fit things in, if you notice, each episode focuses around a story, that they mostly finish up by the end of the episode and will sometimes lean into the next episode. They cannot spend more episodes spending time on something that is not important to the overall story, when they have such an episode limit. Yes, I wanted to see something also, but in the end, I think it was a necessary cut. I think you are being overly hard on the director, he has a difficult job to do, and he will have to cut things that you will not like. If you want to criticize the anime focus on what they did wrong with the episode, not on what they didn't put in. Unless of course you feel that there was something that is very important to the overall story.

I'm an anime only, but i thought the episode was alright on it's own. I could tell a lot was skipped, as there were in previous episodes, but i had no idea it was too this extent. I appreciate the honestly. I understand how it feels when source material is skipped, or altered, or straight up ignored. It's very fustrating, and I'm glad to hear this perspective from someone who actually read the source material. Perhaps I should read the LN. Never was much of an LN reader, so we'll see

As someone who has completed the LN personally I was fine with what they did. Those who KNOW know there are about 5 ok place's to end this season, 1) at turning point 3 2) at the entrance of where we're going (no spoilers) 3) during a certain foreshadowed & extremely important event which HAS to be its own episode. (no spoilers) (for those in the know I hope we get a certain perspective for that episode just like the book) 4) "after..." (no spoilers) 5) after.. 2 electric boogaloo" (again no spoilers) Of the above you are really screwed by the 5 episode limit so something has to give. If you end on 3 I think you're the best off overall, but its still a terrible place to end the season. 1 might be the worst because it will turn many off (who think season 2 is slow, I don't agree... but they're out there) 2 would be acceptable but a little to much time on the journey would be kinda boring IMO. (this journey is kinda meh IMO) 4 would be a massive cliff hanger and I hope that's not where we are going 5 would be the ok and is where we are heading I think. The only problem is they're going to have to rush through somethings. Those who KNOW also are thinking Turning Point 4 will be season 3's mid season cliff hanger. Not the full TP mind you, just a single frame of it is all we need to drive interest. (I'm getting shivers thinking about how kickass next season is going to be) This is just my 2 cents and I've been loving the show honestly.

I'm a novel reader, but I also studied animation , and breaking down the season into the anime adaptation they are doing a good job adapting the story to the timing and episode count of the anime

but as a light novel reader, for me it should have been 2 or 3 episode i agree

They could put the missing pieces as OVA like Eris' adventure with Cliff

a large amount of the journey through begaritt can be skipped and it wont hurt the plot and fluidity, the only thing it hurts considerably by a lot is the world building, but considering they probably wanna give most of the screentime to volume 12 which in my opinion is the right move, they will basically have 5 episodes of vol 12 which is a considerable amount.

7:18 That's my fear as well... I think they should give the book at least 2 episodes, but we might get one episode or less. As for their choice regarding this episode, I think they made the right call with their limited time.

I actually feel the opposite part 2 is better than part 1 and there was no way the bandits and the caravan wasn't getting skipped if they wanted to adapt vol 12. I'll withhold my ultimate judgement till the cour is complete cause the best parts aren't adapted yet.

i started reading the ln after watching turning point 3 (i thought the season was over idk) and this episode def did skip through a ton of content but i dont think any of it is terrible to miss. most of what we lost is world building which is sad but volume 12 was a banger so im sure they are just saving the budget and screentime for that. also sidenote now i want to reread the ln from the start cuz there is clearly a ton of cut content that we are missing out on (although to the anime's credit rudeus is a much less detestable person in the anime as compared to the ln).

To have made a perfect season 2 they would have need like 30-35 episodes

They seem to adopt 6 volumes per season in both season 1 and 2. The only way for season 3 to be done as best as possible is for them, the anime studio and director, to only adopt 5 volumes for season 3 vol 13 to 17. If they have the same 25 episodes format like season 2, then they can adopt many more content from the LN in the anime (although not every aspect). they shouldn't adopt volume 18 with season 3, only stop it at volume 17 cause as an LN reader, you know that volume 18 is mostly slice of life. It'll be weird to end a season with that volume. However, volume 17 has both the payoff and plot twists of a finale.

kinda bummed they skipped the fighting god language but I am also glad that the journey was mostly skipped for 5 episodes of the labyrinth arc. As long as they adapt the pissing scene ill be happy

I think season 2 cour 1 looked worse than cour 2 personally. The volume 7 content was the lowest point of the adaptation in my opinion. It's still a good adaptation over all, but as a fellow LN reader I feel your pain.

More then half a book was skipped in one episode. About... maybe 25 pages of a 200+ page book was included. entirely skipped explanation of the way of life of Begaritt and it's outlook on polygamy and lack of exclusive marriage, comes into play very soon after. The true serious dangers of Succubi. And most and INCREDIBLY important.... Rudeus first real and serious outlook on him causing death... His failure to utilize lifeending magic to save the life of an ally. And accepting that even skipping the major king/god/emperor tier magic, he HAD ended peoples life anyways, by building walls close to riders running at full speed inside his field of mist, many of them died. It tore him up and it was absolutely IMHO an unskippable story, the journey with the mercs was not acceptable to skip. The next like 5 books are all partially or more than partially surrounding Rudeus' journey that leads him to accept killing for himself, his family and his missions for his superior, I'll leave unnamed for spoilers sake. I was disappointed with the episode. It was a good episode, if I had not ever read the LN. Everything anime wise was OK, but just too much INFORMATION critical to not only character development but also world building. The LN journey of the Begaritt continent really kind of humanized the people of the entire world in a way. Anyways, side note for you: So great to see someone desperately lay out my own exact opinions to me lol. good video, I'll have to keep an eye on the rest of your content.

where to read the light novel and what chapter is the anime and Ln is ?

I understand what you mean. I'm also very dissatisfied with how much they skipped, especially the bandit part. And as you said that only makes me worry for future episodes and seasons with important plot that might just get rushed, glossed over or skipped. But I also understand that time and money are very limiting factors and in an ideal world we'd have 3 times the amount of episodes we get right now. So far with each episode in season 2 I've wondered how different my opinion of them would be had I not read the LN and this episode made me wonder that the hardest. Maybe in the far future we get a remake but I doubt it. At least the drop in quality of the anime and the praise of the LN could get more anime onlys to start reading.

To be honest I’m ok with the skipped content as a light novel reader as well I rather have skipped a lot of the travel.now we get five episodes for volume 12 I mean I wish they could of explained the orated stuff but I thought it was a good episode volumes 11 and 12 are by far the longest volumes so there was a lot of lore we lost on but this mean we should get like 3 episodes on the laberyth also they may add some stuff in the blue ray release.i mean yes in a perfect world we would have like 7-8 more episodes but I’m ok with it

As a WB reader I give the first season a 9.5 and this second season I give it a 7 being very critical, it's not that bad. Unfortunately there is no budget to make a better adaptation.

Shakugan No Shana and Rising of Shield Hero suffers way worse , maybe Animation Studio are not that good in adapting LN

While I am enjoying season 2, it's a lot better than most anime out there, I do agree that they skipped way to much in this episode. They should have extended the season by at least one episode in order to cover that missing content.

We got the same demonic continent. Traveling with counter arrow was shown almost entirely, but no one liked it. So let them cut out the unimportant for the plot, just as long as the labyrinth arch is adapted normally

at least it's still better than the manga imo

yeah, I really liked the journey in the LN, the ants and the mercenary group, but I guess they are prioritizing the action in the labyrinth

I think season 2 didn't deal with time well if they have shown how much time passes every time it would be good but may be telling time may break immersion and about skipped content i think it was a good choice because even if you tell about monster their name then their features it would been bad for casual people, in season 1 they didn't get that much monster info then giving in season 2 would been bad Although the details of how Rudy was doing ice magic while traveling would been a great detail And the only information we need on monster is on rats And i do agree that season 3 will be peak of mukosho tensei

As an anime only the show mainly just feels slow paced with small holes. There are less fights and more relational moments that tell us about the characters. I don't feel like we've missed anything major so going in blind I still feel good about the show. It's only when comparing to the source is where issues pop up. I do feel we are missing some key scenes though looking back through season 2 why is badigadi at the school, Who is Cliff, What was the purpose of the crazed doll, How did Orsted and Nanahoshi split up? Things like that Im left to question what is going on? The main plot seems clear though Rudeus reuniting his family. It's all the stuff around it that seem strange and under explained.

For me, it felt like the magic school arc was dragging on for too long. They finally get to the action part and it does feel like it is going too fast. In one episode, they go from the school to the Begaritt continent and are going to meet up with the rest of the party in the next episode.

man I'm so glad I didn't read the novel first. Ignorance is bliss, as they say.

When it comes to comments from the Polish community that i saw (mainly on some random pirate sites XD), it's basically 50/30/20. 50% say that it's been boring af, and only the lates episode is any good, 30 that it's ok, and 20 that it's been good from the beginning. I thought that it's been very good so far, although the fanservice i consider dogshit. I haven't read the novel yet, so after seeing this video.... I think it's badly adapted.

They probably did it because anime only's will ask why the fuck is it taking 3 episodes just to get there. It could fuck up the timeline for anime only's though thinking it was only a few weeks of travel and not 3-4 months. Still think they should've given 1 episode or a 26 min episode for this.

i only watch the anime but watch the skip content of each EP later. i'll tell you the amount of thing they're skiping is too fucking much. probably got LN fan on sucide watch right now
