MUSICIAN REACTS to Elvis Presley - "Separate Ways" (1972) 

I believe it was written by Elvis Presley bodyguard Red West. Red West was a successful music writer. I can only say one thing: "I'm 60 years old and I only know one strength that was always with me when I needed it in lonely moments - it was always Elvis Presley and his incredible voice, in which he always gave you this strength "that you are never alone"!

We will never see the likes of him again.

Yes, written for Elvis by one of his bodyguards, & long-time friend, Red West, while Elvis & Priscilla were going through a marital separation, & little Lisa Marie was having to leave her beloved daddy, to live with Priscilla’s boyfriend in California. A very sad time for them. Red gave the song to Elvis, never expecting Elvis to record it. Red said he just felt so sad for that little girl being taken away from the only home she had known & away from the daddy, who adored her. Perhaps Elvis saw singing this song as a way for him to express how he felt about it all.

If you listen to Elvis music throughout the years, it's how his life was going.He was a very private person and didn't let anyone but the ones closest to him know how he was feeling.He would laugh and joke around like everything was fine. He let his feelings iut through song.I didn't notice when I was younger,but playing his music now from the 50s to the time he passed,his music expressed his life. Right after Pricilla left he did alit of sad ballads,but when he got with Linda you can see through his music,he was happy again. He started singing more upbaet songs. I listen to his music everyday and appreciate him now more than I did when I was younger. His music fits Any mood and makes you feel better! I've been a fan for 66 years and counting!❤❤❤❤❤❤

That was a very personal song to Elvis as when he and Priscilla divorced she took Lisa Marie to the West coast with her. It broke Elvis' heart! I'm headed to Memphis in July and I am so excited!

The anniversary of her death is January 12. Her daughter Riley carries on the legacy. She is an actress nominated recently for "Daisy Jones and the Six". which was on Amazon prime.
