@@JacobRestituto There are a few LIVE versions of this the best one is when they sang it for a reporter on 24/7 City Secrets channel or Blue Tennant 1998 channel 💥 REACT TO THAT ONE TOO!! 🙏🙏
I am a huge Pentaholic, but I am well aware that there is ABSOLUTELY post production work on their studio recordings to give them a more crisp and fuller sound. There is nothing wrong with that.
This was an original written by Avi and Kevin. I agree I with another comment below, I really appreciate the earlier performances. Love this one. Thank you for reacting to it!
This video is incredible and the song is an original! It's one of my favorites of all they have done. That "bass" note that Kevin is doing is actually a throat drum sound. One of the PTX reactors is a beatboxer, and he demonstrated how Kevin was making that sound. He also said that it is somewhat dangerous to do, because if you do it too much, you can damage your vocal chords. It's like choking in tune! That may be why this song was never one that they did regularly on tour. I also love Avi's power-down robot at the very end. Looking forward to the next one.
This song gets more love now than it did when it first came out. There was a PTXvlog back during their tour during this time when they were discussing how audiences were reacting to their songs, and Love Again was like total silence, so they dropped it from the tour. People always liked the song, but its video was getting like a third the views of their others ones from the same album. But it was also a time when people were kinda shitting on dubstep and club music. A lot of music becomes popular in hindsight, and Love Again is one of them.
That first drop is Kevin doing throat beatboxing. It's so good. Can't wait for your interview with Ben Bram. Can you please react to their New Rules x Are You That Somebody mash-up. Please. It's one of their best. 🙏🏼
I'm astonished it wasn't, tbh. I could honestly have seen this being huge with European DJs and the massive EDM crowd, and underground gay scene. I can only assume this was after they were unceremoniously dumped by the _Total Lack Of Foresight Record Company_ ™️, so they had little in the way of decent advice about effective promotion in those early days...
Costuming was inspired by the cyber goth look from the clubs/raves in the 2000s. It kind of fit the feel of the song, plus they had just done the Daft Punk medley with the makeup, and that was so popular I think they were capitalizing on it. Great reaction, and I love this song.
OMG I’m SO EXCITED that you are interviewing Ben! You always have so many questions on their producing, recording etc and he is perfect. I listened to an a capella podcast that interviewed him a few years ago and it was great.
Oh my Goodness! Ben Bram! What a coup Jacob! Can’t wait. Love again should have played so much more on the radio. It’s one of my favorite originals from PTX. 🤗
@@ellenhulslander2897 Probably Zureck (or something), right? He explained it and replicated it. It's not that Kevin can legit sing that low, but with the throat bass (a vocal fry or false vocal folds vibration maybe) he can get that low
I am in total awe of Ben Bram - the voices in PTX are beyond amazing, but I’ll go out on a limb and say they would be nowhere without him. I can’t wait!
This is one of my favorite originals of theirs. I am really looking forward to you sitting down with Ben. It will be great to hear what all you talk about!
You definitely have to react to their live performance of Aha! from their Singapore concert!!! Here's the link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aT2Nm4fYmI4.html I swear it is worth it.
This is a favorite of mine from them. I truly like much of their older stuff better than their newer pieces. Thanks for reacting. Cool that you have an interview with Ben Bram!
PTX was the first band and artist I ever really was a fan of, and I think this song in particular influenced my love for futuristic bass and edm songs lol.
I so enjoyed how much you enjoyed it! I think there were a lot of influences at play here... the format is reminiscent of their Grammy-winning Daft Punk medley, so they were probably exploring that direction a little further, including Kevin's phenomenal contributions. Plus, as you mentioned, Mitch got to go fully into his head voice (was there falsetto there, too?), and Avi was given some great deep base solo time. For an original song, it looks like they were throwing all their strengths in one pot! Great reaction with excellent content, as always.
Thank you for reacting to this PTX original. Here is a link to Pentatonix performing "Love Again" live for an interviewer after an interview with 24/7. You can see who is doing what and hear that they sound most the same live. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GyRiez6UKAI.html
Avi is not actually doing that deep boom boom boom rhythm if you check out their live version of this it is kevin doing that amazing booming with his voice
Avi and Ben are two of the three "daddies" for A Capella Academy. Avi is the brain child behind and Ben and the third man whose name escapes me have done a fabulous job with all of the young people they have worked with over the years. A Capella Academy have performed a great song Avi wrote. "The Seed". It is beautiful in it's words and music. Not necessarily for reaction but to see the fabulous work these men are involved in. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XZ89BHmRfws.html
Here are some additional clips for you Pam A Cappella Academy how it happened Avi's Tweet acappellacademy.org/about/history/ I love the fun they have. Here are the 3 "founders" together. Entertaining the audience while the choir comes in and gets on the risers. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-T4f_OGflkr4.html
Very excited for the Ben Bram interview. Also, one of my favorite things PTX does is highlight the extremes of Mitch and Avi/Matt. There's a couple of spots here and there throughout their catalog and they're invariably my favorite moments.
Very impressive run from Mitch when he goes from the verse in all mid chest notes and then the quick change to higher head notes in the chorus of "you don't know why... " . So quick and precise. Kevin and Avi's bass, beatboxing and percussion are phenomenal, and yes Avi does do some beatboxing too. Avi and Mitch's vocal ranges are really something to be marveled at. They both have wide ranges that you don't hear very often. They are DYNAMIC!
As someone who does a ton of a cappella stuff- there is absolutely layering, post production, and pitch correction in these recordings. That’s just how it’s done. Also some of the stuff Kevin does isn’t possible so his stuff is layered too. (like doing an inward sound and an outward sound at the same time)
5:44 PS [1 year late!] And yes, they definitely layer their vocals, you're right. I'm not sure why people get in a tizz about it - PTX are quite open about it! [Some of the PTX fans are very young, and can get a little bit er... defensive of their heroes. 😉]
they a did a little interview 7 years ago with 24/7 City Secret and performed this song live. it's still up on youtube. it's really amazing. you can really hear everyone's parts. It starts about five and half mins in.
Great to hear about the big time interviews coming. Good htings happen to good people. Well deserved. We are here for you and enjoy you and your reactions and original work and vlog.
How cool, that you get to interview Ben Bram! Also "Love Again" is so crazy to me.. like how do you do that a capella? And as others already recommended, the 24/7 interview with them doing it live without mics (apart from Kevin) is wild to me.
REACT TO THE LIVE VERSION OF THIS SONG on 24/7 city secrets channel!!! Or on Blue Tennant 1998 channel PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE They just bust out with this song!!!🙏🙏🙏
Avi and Kevin were able to really hone their skills as they shared an apartment ...they often synchronized their bass & beatboxing tricks & mixed it up a bit. Kevin often was given credit for the bells & whistles in their Sing Off performances when it was actually Avi doing his Overtones ....I love this video. As you can tell I'm a huge Avi fan and I think he looks and sound awesome in this. Thanks for your analysis
@@JacobRestituto One of my fav videos from original PTX is 'NO' it has Avi & Kevin up front & you can watch the fun they have. Avi's breath control is amazing as he holds those long bass notes...Would love to see your take on it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-W9LJDwZOprY.html
I know this is an old video so this comment might get lost, but you should react to their life performance with no microphones, during an interview. It is great and you’ll see the difference between recorded and live
Here is a fan-made compilation video of PTX arranging/recording... You can see Ben Bram also there... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XbxPnbC9vnk.html
Pentaholics like to worship the "pureness" of the sounds and get offended at the slightest mention of any post effects. The truth is, PTX is a major pop group and some post is absolutely required and expected in their genre. But they do manage to sing these songs live at concerts without any loss of the thrill. The unique costumes were because they'd just done Daft Punk and gotten raves. They have history in musical theater and I think they kind of like these "dress up" videos. "Radioactive" is another good dress-up video from them (with Lindsey Stirling collaborating).
