September is one of the best months when they fight really hard before the water gets cold and they get a little lethargic, Conquest MD is saltwater reel and this 40" musky still managed to pull out the drag almost fully tightened. She fought like a beast! Metro is probably starting to heat up too right now like the Spillway.
I have been using the 8.0 for largemouth bass. I get lots of strikes and hook ups, but, when the bass goes to jump or head shake, they throw the 8.0. I am going to try those BKK hooks.
Those bkk hooks are night and day man, big difference for hook sets and even just keeping the bass and musky on. I'm still gonna buy some of those discontinued megabass grenade squarebills, I bought a bunch of 6th sense magnums, but the strike King 8.0 still hits the hardest... and whats nice about the bkk hooks doesn't seem to take any vibration away from the wide wobble, even though I'm casting a lot more bigger rubber like bulldawgs and 12" chaos posseidon swimbaits, I still cast the 8.0 equally as much though. I'd like to see Strike King or maybe someone with a 3d printer copy it and blow it up in size a little to target the 50 inch musky, now that would be interesting, tight lines!
@@af4od02 I go with the SPEAR 21-SS 1/0 Tournament Grade Qty 5 hooks, super slide. They're just slightly bigger than the stock mustads I think, I have the 2/0 too, but I prefer the 1/0 size, similar in weight, that way it doesn't throw off the action or vibration, very superstitious about that, it's kind of like the megabass jerkbait, things do have to be balanced right to get the fullest and most precise action out of your hard bait. They're not only sharper and have a super slide coating, but they also forged so they're less likely to bend or break, I've had many hooks bend and break when musky fishing ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-T7XIaA4jgNc.htmlsi=0DrpH6IHGE4V9F1x
And be sure to check out Bassbruiser71, he's got a lot of great videos on using these magnum squarebills on really big bass, like the 6th Sense Magnum, Strike King 8.0, and Megabass Grenade. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vwdRiFwLsb8.htmlsi=sdrz1Rc0bBzfDzdv ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BodspxoU_-U.htmlsi=GijQKRi-OucrM6Vz ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Zww-UH5ZRjE.htmlsi=FiF7VoV6wtGQPKj1
