@@MichaelGreenReviews Hello Michael! Finally You have discovered Latvian rye bread taste! And you are right about the rye bread tastes best with honey and some fruit jam. In Latvija we use to have rye bread also with cottage cheese or even meat. It doesn't fit well to porridge or vegetable stews. Also that one rye bread in MRE is not the best. By chance you could try "Lāču maize"(bear's bread). It's a different level.
Helllooooooooo Mick, good to see you and hear your voice again. Nice looking ration friend. The components look solid, but somewhat familiar. In all rations, we are used to this, LOL. Awesome accessory pack. Plenty of drinks. That type of spoon, I taste more spoon ,than what I am eating with it. Good call on improvisation of another one. The bread, I always enjoy. Addition of plastic divider is awesome. Quite funny, I never liked it, or hot tea, until I started doing reviews. LOL. it seems you had A good meal. I'm glad you enjoyed friend. Stay safe. The wooden spoon is a good idea but unfortunately, made from the wrong type of wood that leaves a bad taste in the mouth....Keep you and yours safe and well my friend....ATB...Mick
split pea & ham soup. candy bar, trail mix, and rice....stuff(?) this is likely a traditional comfort food in Latvia. good idea tossing the nuts & raisins in the rice. I think I would add the creamer and sugar to the rice and make a rice pudding. looks like a decent meal.

I'd have been inclined to give a sprinkling of sugar onto the blueberry rice. Thats got to be one of the biggest sugar allowances for a daytime ration ive ever seen!
Hi...Thanks for watching and commenting.....Yes, agreed I added sugar in a previous tasting and it did make it more flavoursome. Also with the 3 coffee sticks, Latvians must love extremely strong and sweet coffee to warrant those 2 huge packs?
Nice review. I'll have to do a review video at some point too when I have a similar package on the shelf. Wooden spoons are really nice from an environmental point of view, but I also have the feeling that somehow their surface or texture doesn't feel nice in the mouth, not so much their taste. It feels a bit like dragging a chalkboard with your fingernails or creaking styrofoam. 😬

I like the new graphic design of the packages, It gives you a feeling the contents are better before you even open the packs. The wooden spoon is my only criticism. Without having a coating on them, the wood taste really comes through the food. When you get one, let me know what you think? I'd be interested to know if others think the flavour of the spoon is off putting?....ATB...Mick
I have three different Latvian bags on the shelf. Black, brown and then a new one like that. I have to make a video about that new model at some point.
