In this episode, the pontoon get some improvements and gets back to the river. I hope you love it and please consider sharing. Thanks so much for watching.
Pontoon Boat $200, giving those young men a lifetime of memories with their dad priceless. I wish we had more dad's like this one. There would be a lot less problems in our world.
You need to get a sticker to put on the boat that says.. " the boat sunk so i took the dock" lol That will be more like a party barge. All you gotta do is dock it any where close to the shore and everyone will tie up to you lol..so awesome bro ...so awesome...i might even make one with my kiddos. .thanks man
Glad to see u covered one of the boat holes. Trim molding on the edges good. A battery operated drill would be nice. Pontoon boats are by nature slow, so leave early. Very good work! Fo reals dudes.
I have been brainstorming on how to do exactly what you are talking about, even when the boat was just in my head. I will see what I can come up with. Thanks for watching.
A small motor and a pontoon boat would be ideal for those of us wanting to explore lake shores and gently flowing rivers.. and not interested in setting speed records or bouncing from wave top to wave top. I am over 20 by a few decades and like to enjoy stuff.
you should make the front of the barrels more hydrodynamic , and I suggest wrapping the strapping around the 2x4 s .the screws will never stay tight , if you wrapped the strapping around the board then bolted it to its self on one side then on the other side you could use a turnbuckle , that way you could tighten or loosen as needed
Great job on the cheap I love it get some Thomson water seal on that deck it will last a long time I use a 5lb weight from my old gym set as my anchor you should get a fire extinguisher and flairs for your dry box
I am loving it so much, we are suppose to leave 6 in the morning for another adventure. I have been brainstorming on how to do exactly what you are talking about, even when the boat was just in my head. I will see what I can come up with. Thanks for watching.
We did that on my PVC kayak and, of course, people fussed. I am currently working on a barrel kayak, video coming soon, you will probably see some zip ties on it. Thanks so much for watching.
Would like to see how you connected and supported the bigger motor onto that foot. And what horse power was the foot from. Awesome video. Maybe you start making those pontoons and selling them. I am sure many would enjoy getting on the water.
I have a video or two of making it, but I have to guess the side of the foot. I think it was about a 20 horse Johnson. I have thought about making and selling these boat, I mean, I only need so many myself, but they are fun to build. Thanks for watching.
I have a magnet for magnet fishing have you ever caught anything with anything?. When I first got mine I bought two and I had one in each hand. I got the moments too close to each other and I lost a bunch of skin
I found a bunch of random metal stuff like nails and rebar. I found a kitchen knife once. And on the day of this video, the boy found a nice Estwing hammer. I meant to put it in the video, but missed it. Thanks so much for watching.
When I first saw the 2 x 6 or 2 x 8 lumber laid out as a deck on top of the frame I thought, "I wonder how much that thing is going to weigh, and if he'll be able to move it. Maybe it just looked like 2x6 or 2x8, and was the 1" deck boards instead.
You need to make some fiberglass cones for the front so it does not create so much drag, There is long tail shafts on flee, bay you could fit onto that engine so you can go into shallower water without messing up the prop for $250 bucks, Great job tho!
Yes I agree on the front Vees conical on the front of the barrels use some kind of PVC or something like that so that it doesn't Bend and not been back you would probably get much better speed out of your motor just a suggestion

genius boat and 4 lo bucks cant be beat.....also ur voice and sense of humour remind me of tim farmer with kentucky afield...he was raised around grayson ky...were u?...haha, but great boat, good ur boys aint in front of a cell phone 2.....
havent seen ur 3rd video, but its next...1 idea that is often overlooked...a small or large tow behind...they work really well with boats especialy at low speeds..alot of volume can be carried...quick detatch...4 moving/transportation and can be used as a 2nd station 4 fishing, netting and overnight stays and as a lifeboat..[doubtful necessary but it would do]..many other uses and can easily be left behind for light trips....
You are so right! I am from northeast Florida, born and raised. The boys don't have phones yet, but this does get them off of games and out of the house. Thanks so much for watching and for the humor word!
I noticed how you had to re-tighten the metal straps on the barrels and was wondering if this was a frequent issue? If this continued to cause problems, how did you ultimately fix it?
Yeah, pretty much any boat motor would be faster than what I am using. However, mine was super cheap, fun, and still better than paddling. Thanks for watching.
Wait until you see part 3, I hope it are in you near future... And today, for part 4, I put some angles on in front of the barrels to cut through the water better. That video should be out next week. Thanks for watching and for the nice words.
I like the theme and you did a neat job of it but you blew all bye dropping the frgn pairs. A smart boy like you should have known that you would for sure bruise them
So how much of a big deal is it to load and unload the boat into the water without a trailer that's specifically made for a pontoon because I'm having a really tough time finding a spontaneous Pacific trailer?
It was a pain the first few times, then I started lowering the trailer in deeper and it was a piece of cake. That is the hold up on my third build, find a pontoon trailer that is cheap and good enough to use. Good luck and thanks for watching.
That would be so cool! Let me think on it. I have to find somewhere low on gators, or build a gator proof cage to get into. Thanks for watching and for the suggestion.
Hey cool boat but u should think about putting not sure what to call it on the frt of the barrels make it so that it goes through the water with very little resistance 3 pieces of sheet metal one on each side of the barrel and one on the bottom so it slides through the water..like a real pontoon boat sorry like one u would buy from a boat store
I have been brainstorming on how to do exactly what you are talking about, even when the boat was just in my head. I will see what I can come up with. Thanks for watching.
I had one pull me over for a routine inspection, no issues. Had another say I was going too fast in a spring river. No issues with the boat. I just made sure it was legal an had all my safety stuff. Thanks for watching.
chud327 i am watching all another parts.. how many parts are them ?? ... i have a question:: is in your city you must have license to drive this boat ???? in my city (cairo)it is difficult to take license😳
There are 4 parts with a 5 coming out in a couple of weeks. Yes the boat has to be registered and have a title to use it with an engine on it. It was super easy and cheap here.
Maybe if you took one of the blue drums and cut it diagonally from top left to bottom right that might give you your shapes and still look like a blue barrels don't know maybe try
I have been brainstorming on how to do exactly what you are talking about, even when the boat was just in my head. I will see what I can come up with. Thanks for watching.
Love the suggestions. I will try to get a grill on build #2 and ribs would be so good as swimming hunger pains kick in. I hope you will watch more and give more ideas. Thanks for watching.
They say each barrel will hold 400 pounds. I have had 5 people on there several times with no problem. I would know exactly what it will hold, but it does great. Thanks for watching.
Hey chud327....was just wondering what in the world is wrong with the water...it looked nasty? I enjoy your videos and sub to your channel. I really enjoy it when you were burning rubber on the good ole truck...you ever do that anymore?
The water is dark for the leaves that fall in it. Tannic acid, reminds me of tea. Thanks so much for subbing and for watching. I will try to do another burn out soon. BTW, I just changed the tires on that truck, video coming soon.
chud327 hi chud327...thank you for responding...I never thought about the leaves...makes sense...I will be waiting for your next video....2 thumbs up...again thank you for your response...take care chud327!
Thanks and I really want to, but I have to get something on the road big enough to pull the trailer and house, I don't think my car want to tackle that. But if it gets cool enough, I will take it my own woods to camp soon. Stay tuned and thanks for watching and for the request.
is that a lower unit from a white merc?...i know a few johnsons were white....had a 6 cylinder white merc in the 90s...59 model mark 75A direct drive...u actual ran it backwards 4 reverse and it worked fine...everybody's scared stiff of those old direct drives with no neutral, but they worked well..powerful...made 66 horses..idle down so lo it just barely moved the glastron 15.5 ft v-156...most versatile boat i ever had.....but no worries..it was very predictable
most people are terrified of outboard motors like their radioactive or somethin....like a man that can frankensteinem 2gether and make em work...u and ur boys wouldnt be stranded in the desert...known grown men who literally couldnt change a flat...good 2 know there are still a few gear heads left...kutgw...
white?..could even be from a chrysler...guess it around 15 to 25 hp family...somethin tells me u may have seen them old direct drives haha/lol...u really could idle em down where it moved the boat like a trolling motor...and how easy is that?....probbly get the biggest kick outta ur "powertrain" combinations...kutgw!!!
I JUST HAD YOUR PREVIOUS VIDEO RUN ACROSS MY RU-vid TIMELINE. WHICH LEAD ME TO HERE.... SUM LUCKY: ( YOUNG BUCKS & DOES ) TO HAVE A ...... [ Dad, / Uncle, / Neighbor ] 🤔 ??? .... TO SHOW THEM @ SUCH A YOUNG AGE, HOW TO ( BUILD & HAVE UR "OWN" FUN ). ( KNUCKLE👊🏽BUMP ) Chud327 .....
If you check out episode #5, it became much stronger. How ever, I wouldn't skip #4, it is my favorite. BTW, episode #8 should be out tomorrow. Thanks so much for watching.
I have pulled it about 20 hours worth and no problems, how many do you think it will take to make it dead. I am working on a lighter trailer, but I haven't got it road ready yet. Thanks for watching.
I had a 09 Altima and killed it with a lawnmower that weighed 300 pounds and trailer was another 150 pounds those things are crappy when it comes to pulling stuff with be careful
Currently it is not fast enough to knock you into the whole. I am about to build a bigger and better, I don't think it will have the same hole. Thanks for watching.
It did pretty good with the bigger kicker, it has a bigger gas tank. We filled the little one up 3 times on the first trip and the big one didn't need a refill... Thanks for watching.
@@chud327 You did a very good job building the pontoon boat and you very informative on its construction! ( I was making a Banjo Joke! Like the Old Movie " Delierence " Burt Reynolds and other men went down a Georgia River! )
Love watching good videos like yours Chub. We made lots of rafts when we were younger as we were raised on a small river. We used a lot of tractor tire innertubes and ropes. Plastic barrels weren't around back in dinosaur days. Vee the front and put a couple benches on it! Good job!
In your setting, a Red Wiggler Worm Farm would be perfect for bringing home something to eat, instead of a Family looking for something to eat. Kiddie Pool, Rabbit Manure & 1 Lb. of R W Worms ordered on-line. My Wife & I averaged 40 perch per hr. You have the perfect fishing boat.
Not a math guy, have to wonder why the need to change anything! At that speed why put a pointed nose? HA, or a spoiler on the back? Fuctionality is the intent and the attraction of your build. Your kids will continue your ethics of hard work work, thrift, and play logic as they go forward in life. Keeping things simple is harder to do that you think. Good job, thanks for sharing.
This reminds me of the adventures of Tom Sawyer & Huckleberry Finn on the Mississippi River. Long after you're gone, your boys will remember these days. Good times. Thanks for making these videos, chud327.
You should use sheet metal or plastic to build more of a sloped angle infront of the pontoons. It will help you go alot faster and reduce drag! Really cool to see how you've built this, even thinking of building myself one now.
I have been brainstorming on how to do exactly what you are talking about, even when the boat was just in my head. I will see what I can come up with and I feel you should build one, everyone should, who could use this? Thanks for watching.
