I am older and of my goals is to preplan ad pay for our funerals. It will be a great burden off of the person who has to plan them, be it a spouse or our daughter. I think this is a necessary, even though most people don’t want to think about it. We purchased our burial plots 2 years ago. This year I would like to purchase our Monuments. We do have some life insurance that would pay most of the burial expenses expenses.

Naturally I’ll so frugal that I deny myself living to the fullest. This year I decided to start spending money on experiences and it has truly made me so much happier. I started actually using my vacations sinking funds, my partner and I each opened a travel credit card. I learned that spending money on your relationships is so much more valuable than having sinking funds that I’m afraid to use.

I've chosen my theme for 2023, and it's an improvement. I want to improve my finances, improve my health, improve how I spend my time, and overall improve myself because it's something I have been lacking for multiple years. My main two money goals of mine are to save 20% of my monthly income and pay off my highest-interest loan from university (a loan with a 14% interest rate 😨).
@linal3489

This video came at such a perfect time for me 😊! I’m actually in the middle of making coffee and doing a yearly reset. My main goal for 2023 is to pay off the last of my medical bills and set up my emergency fund again. Another goal which I think is my most importantly just overall is to be kinder to myself. This year I had a lot of extreme goals and was struggling post pandemic. I was able to get a full time job at my local library, but I never took any time to be proud of myself or take care of mysel ( sleeping, eating enough etc) so toward the end of this year I started prioritizing my mental health and investing in weekly therapy and managing my ocd diagnosis etc. lol all that to say a big 2023 goal for my is to be fair to myself with the goals I set and also work on not being ashamed for being in a lower income etc. thanks for sharing such great advice it was definitely something I needed to help me organize myself this morning ❤

Your videos are so inspirational and really push me to be more mindful about my own financial decisions! I haven't officialy sat down and mapped out my financial goals for 2023, but the main one I'm toying with at the moment is to implement a question before every on-necesity purchase. For example, I work at a clothing store and find that I impulse buy pretty frequently and it's really effecting my ability to achieve other financial goals. I want to start asking myself "would future me thank current me for this purchase" and really take a moment to evaluate if it is a wise purchase or not.

My husband and I had a small wedding in June 2021. We got married in front of the rocky mountains with our parents, sibs, and our best friends. 13 people total. We only spent $7k on the wedding and a 2 week honeymoon. I say only because most people spend more. My parents wanted to contribute and paid for our flowers. Very unexpected and grateful. We cut our cake and had drinks back at our cabin that night. No reception. The next day we rented a boat and spent the day with all our guests on the lake. We would not change a thing.

The same thing happened with me and my husband and we just paid off our last $2,400 today! We made some big decisions this year that allowed us to pay it off within 6 months. Your guidance and monthly planning routines really helped me stay focused and on track. I also downloaded the budget template you use and that has been a game changer! I think taking a specific amount as a business paycheck is a great idea. I follow a RU-vidr (Steph & Den) who does that full time and she takes a very strict budget from the business. You could also do a specific amount that MUST go straight into savings or invested from the business monthly. I’d highly recommend a business high interest savings if you don’t have one so it isn’t sitting in checking.

I have previously been great with setting financial goals and meeting them however my 2022 finances changed significantly. I saved for several years and my goals started with smaller items that consisted of a few hundred dollars, then i wanted a truck and trailer for my horses and achieved both those in 2020 (also splurged and bought newer cash only so that they would last), next financial goal was wedding and honeymoon which we achieved in 2021, next was wanting to buy a horse property within about 3 years well that fast tracked because we found the perfect place in 2022 and was above our budget. We have many updates and things to accomplish with property for goals however don't have much left over and to top it off, found out we were pregnant right after buying the new place, yay good changes but def affecting finances! We don't have many short-term goals other than making sure we are making progress on payments. We bought a bunch of equipment on contract for deed on 5 yr payoff but ideally we can payoff off sooner. Pay off student loans by 2024 but am in a program that as long as i stay in my current job until end of July 2024, I am in a scholarship program and that will get paid off by then. Husband will need a new vehicle in the mext 3 years as well. Definitely lots of goals but big expenses so will take some time! And new home will need a new roof in 3-5 yrs too.

But how does it work when I buy something in January using my credit card? Should I still put it in January or in the month where actual payment is due? I can't decide which way makes more sense. Thanks in advance :)

I just want to clarify it's not MY spreadsheet, it's just one that I bought and love! It's really up to you, anything I buy in January on my CC I still track as a January expense and that would count as tracking your CC payment because it's already accounted for in your expenses!

@CarterSullivan

We're still doing our research and figuring it all out but it's important to note that Disney isn't a traditional timeshare like you think. There’s a misconception that timeshares are impossible to leave behind if they are no longer a good fit. That may be true for some but it’s not the case at all with Disney Vacation Club. The Disney timeshare remains popular and continues to add new resorts and you can use it worldwide and sell if it is no longer for you.

Great video, thank you for your ideas and suggestions. You mentioned lining smaller goals, have you tried goals following The 12 week year plan. I think that seem doable for smaller goals that are in alignment with long-term goals.

Hi Carter, I loved this video! It truly helped guide me to set my financial goals for 2023. One of my biggest dreams for 2023 is to do at least 1 paid brand partnership on my social media. I've been slowly growing over the past couple years, I just had some major growth over on TikTok, and I have done a few ambassador-based partnerships that have made me a couple bucks. What I'd really like to do though is do one partnership where they pay me a set amount, and I would love if eventually I could make about an extra $50-100 a month from this! Sending big love

However, from the other side as a viewer and someone who's working towards that, it peaks my curiosity and interest so much more!

Spent past 15 months working all the hours under the sun to pay off all my debts. The plan for 2023 is to build an emergency fund and heavily invest in bitcoin, ethereum and Tesla. From 2024 onwards It’ll just be the S&P500 and property.

Dvc was the best decision we made for our family. Literally forces you to take vacations and if we can’t go, we rent the points and put that income into the balance of the dvc contract. There are a lot of ways to really make it work for you and financially over the decades that you can use it, there is no better way to visit Disney ❤
@CarterSullivan

Yes that's the best part of DVC is you won't ever lose money on it, it just grows over the years!!

Hey Carter! I own a business & was really lost when it came to the business income & what to pay myself…Then I read the book Profit First. Since July I have been doing the Profit First method & after it’s set up, it is such a breeze & I love paying my bills & myself now! I would highly, highly recommend reading the book & trying it out!

I also want to open my business and get that started already. I want to plan smaller goals each quarter as well but I'm not sure yet.

Not all timeshares are terrible! We have done extensive research and talked to many different people in the DVC world and it's actually one of the only timeshares that makes financial sense to do! We wouldn't get into something we haven't extensively researched 🤗

I'll also be working 3 holidays and will probably shove anything from our tax return toward it. -Save for beach trip in June so it can be paid off before we go. -Start an emergency savings -Start saving for a house/baby -Increase my retirement fund thingy mabobber :D -I also have to increase my primary insurance plan in July because my secondary ends then so I want to get as much done as I can before that happens
