Hi, I’m Zoe! (Pronounced like Zoey) I’m a 26 year old from Montreal making videos about my REAL life. After quitting my management consulting "dream job", then being laid off from a startup job, I decided to take a chance and work for myself. I'm now mainly focused on RU-vid (my absolute passion) and side-hustle contracts in the copywriting and admin fields.
My videos centre around work, gentle productivity, mental health & personal wellness, with a touch of fashion, tech, and whatever else I'm living. My goal is to be open & honest ALWAYS and for my channel to be a fun, inspiring place where we can set goals and live our best lives together. I would love for you to subscribe 💝

The most fascinating part of this video to me was actually the Manulife account getting $100 every month… I’m renting now but that really got me thinking. Why NOT have a few hundred bucks going towards real estate every month? Home ownership is more of a “maybe in 10 years” thing for me right now but hell, 10 years of small deposits can add up 🤷🏾‍♀️
@ZoePritchard

You seem so much happier financially which is great to see! -- It's crazy how I randomly watched your lifestyle creep video after RU-vid recommended it, and now you are the entire reason I set up my own one month ahead account!! I recently moved out into my own apartment and it has been soo, soo helpful in terms of feeling financially secure. Hope you are doing well!

The one month ahead expense is the best thing I ever did for my finances! I contribute half of my expenses every paycheck to it (I get paid bi-weekly), and so I always know my essential, fixed bills will always be paid! I have a separate account for spending and another for bills, so my one month ahead is in my bills checking account. Makes things so clear. Another great video and finance tips, Zoe! 💓

I am officially debt free and implementing the cash envelope system since 2 months ago. People are always so intrigued when I take out my cash envelope wallet and share with them what I am doing. This has been a game-changer for me as I am realizing how much money I have spent in the past on useless things. This really gives me the financial picture of where my money is going. So proud and cant wait to continue following your journey. Much Love, Pamela xoxo

Hi Zoe, this was another great video. However, did I hear you say that you carry your cash envelopes around? If that's the case, I personally would rethink that given the fact that people will stop at nothing to take from you, especially with the way the economy is. Or you could lose it, or lay it down while you are paying for something, and forget to take it. It happens all the time, with people and their cell phones. They say it only takes a moment of being distracted for something like that to happen. I would hate to see that happen to you with all the hard work you do. Maybe if you are going out for coffee, or something to eat, just take a certain amount out of the proper envelope.
@ZoePritchard

I realized that the secret to making a million is saving for a better investment. I always tell myself you don't need that new Maserati or that vacation just yet. That mindset helped me make more money investing. For example last year I invested 80k in stocks (with the help of my Financial Advisor of course) and made about 246k, but guess what? I put it all back and traded with her again and now I'm rounding up close to a million.

It’s so fascinating hearing about student debt from someone in the UK. For us it’s litterally the last thing on our mind and no one willingly pays it off in full. Depending on how much you make it comes out of your payslip and is forgiven after 30 years. They can only take out money if you earn a certain amount I think it’s 28k and it’s something like £5 a month obvs the more you earn the more they take out but it’s probably nothing more than £150 a month which is very small in comparison.

Just a thought but you could be using your TFSA for your house goal instead of a regular savings account. This way when you are older, making more, and buying the house you won't get taxed on your withdrawal which will include capital gains. However, with a regular savings account you will get taxed on the capital gains and possibly at a higher rate than today depending on the growth in your income. RRSP also has a first home tax free withdrawal but you have to pay that back over X years.

Now with cards I can pay faster without counting 3 times the bills before and after paying. It all depends on the person I guess. It makes no difference in my psyque money is money for me whether in cash or a card.

@ZoePritchard
@ZoePritchard Год назад
Thank you for subscribing!! It's really a personal decision and I cannot give true financial advice. What would I do in this situation? First see at what interest rates your debts are at. If its credit card debt at 19.99% (for example) I would pay that off first as you cannot earn that much interest on your savings. If the interest on the debt is low you could do both, however it really depends what you are comfortable with. This is a good question to look up and read some articles about! I have an old video where I sit down with a financial advisor and we talk about this. Here is the link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pvmBMi4JoCw.html
