It’s so refreshing to see someone with true 4c hair like mines... I swear people be having 4a/4b and post videos saying it’s 4c so I can never see how a style would truly turn out
When you start making up songs to get through your 4c wash day😂😂💀💀 Same girl!!! Plus wash and stay in yo houses sooo true. (Also its time for my weekly dose of star puppy 🐶)
4c hair gets easier the longer it grows. The strands will stretch instead of getting so knotted and tangled. I learned this the hard way after cutting all my hair off thinking it would make styling faster.
Hey, I’m 4c low very very low porosity and very thin strands. And after a year of experimenting I have come to learn it doesn’t have to take all day. The trick for me was staying in the shower because the moisture from the shower keeps the hair wet. Once I got out of the shower I tended to use more product instead of more water. I know you hear lots of advice but we tend to use more product when we are sitting in front of the mirror. My full wash day is 1 hour.. see my pic, my wash n gos are short and effortless. Yours came out good, keep practicing and trying great products. I use Uncle Funky Daughter (with no leave it). Good luck...
This is so true! Staying in the shower helps the product spread more easily and evenly. And it's just nice to be able to not have to do anything once out of the shower (other than using a hair dryer if I want to).
Yes! I am a 3c/4a girl but I learned very quickly that I have to do my hair soaking wet. If I step out of the shower to style, I spray it with warm water to keep my sections wet. That’s literally the only way it will come out defined lol
Another trick is, I no longer use warm water when adding gel because I want my cuticles closed. The hair is smoother and less frizz with cold water. All the hydration has happened in the washing phase and the conditioner is supposed to close and smooth. So when I add my gel, I want my hair smooth. Adding warm or hot water lifts the cuticles.
Honestly, you and fluff nugget would begin to flourish and do better if you speak life to her for who she is and who you are instead of fighting it. StarPuppy, you are absolutely beautiful!
Real talk! I just started looking into what our natural hair does for us and GODS intention of making it the texture it is! It's deeper than hair! BUT that doesn't mean I'm being negative to say it's ALOT of work to keep it up!
I’m embracing the shrinkage too. To me it’s so much less maintenance instead of worrying about stretching my hair to kingdom come lol. I’m so glad you had great results. We need to start a movement or challenge of 4Cs mastering the wash n go. Anyone else in? Lol
Finally, she's embracing her shrinkage. A little stretch here and there is fine, but to have a constant battle against what your hair naturally does is kind of maddening.
EXACTLY!!! I don't have 4c hair, but I did try to force my hair into completely frizz free large clumps and coils. But my hair isn't like that. It's made of small wavy curls that sometimes coil. I don't hair type because I don't fall into a specific type. All I know is that my hair will never be perfectly frizz free, and I'm okay with that now. I embrace the frizz and I can now enjoy non helmet hair.
your coils are so tiny and cute! It looks like you have more density! People with low-density should let their hair shrink, it's beautiful. I have high shinkage, and low density. Allowing my hair to shrink was the best idea, it even allowed my hair to grow longer.
Yas!! I wanna see a whole week. Ahhh another styled i'd like to see you try out is bantu knots, finger coils and perm rod set (those mini rods huehue). So yea all the styles I fail to accomplish on my own hair lol Your wash n go's rock now! Im so happy you stuck to it.
Oh yes seconded!! I love the care you put into your hair and videos and the time you are willing to take! Seeing you do these other styles would be great if you have the time! You’re so cute and I’m glad you’re embracing the shrinkage! It looks great! ❤️❤️❤️
I am looking at my hair. The tight coils, the dryness, the hair that never looks wet. I’m so glad someone with my hair type is out here for me! Thank you Danielle!!!!
😍 I absolutely love 4C hair. It’s so captivating. I mean I’m 4B so I’m close, and know the struggle but it ain’t like 4C 😍. The coils, kinks, sponginess, shrinkage is beautiful. 😍🙌🏾
Welcome to the shrinkage club!! Your hair turned out really cute and I'm glad you are accepting your lot in life. It will only get better from here on out. Seeing how you maintain your wash and go would be pretty interesting to see.
Keep working at it👏Embrace the shrinkage i live my shrinkage on my wash and not go but i guess the wash amd go hair style.coils are poppin☺👌This is our hair ohhh can't wait until you can start doing twist outs ohhhh
I have that TRUE 4cde hair. Dry, low porosity, super shrinkage, extremely frizzy and low to no definition. Wash n go’s equal a matted mess. Oh and the flakes! Probably because the product just sits on my hair. 9 years being natural and I’ve lost count of my big chops. I get so frustrated with it. I love that you’ve figured out what works best for your hair. I’m still working on it.
I used to have hair short like that. You are doing better than I did at that stage. Yet now my hair is past down my back stretched out. Don't use heat. I love ya.
This is exactly how my hair looks, length and all. Wow I am so glad to have found someone with my hair texture. I don't need to watch any other youtuber. Everything is here comedy and all.
It is nice to see your struggle. I have tried soaking wet, dry, and spray, Dry. Nothing works. These people have silky curly hair and act like they have straight fros. Your curls are popping and beautiful. Thank you!
OMG!!!! When u did the close up when it was wet with the products in it... your COILS were so cute. Just beautiful and separated. I agree, it Looked like little springs... LOVED IT 😍😍😍😍 u should cut of one of those PERFECT COILS and put it in a Lockett ... those r THE most perfect little coils I’ve ever seen
💕👏💕👏💕👏💕 YAAAAS DANIELLE!!!! You adhered to direction and followed instructions well. You achieved it!!! You are beautiful and so is your hair just as it is! 💕🤗💕
That finished result looks super cute! And yesss, keep watering that hair during styling! It's super helpful in getting the curls to define and the products just work better.
It’s cute., glad that all the tips helps! For your next wash n go, instead of shingling try shaking your head. Cover your face with a towel and shake like your seasoning food (still on soaking wet hair) but just a different way of getting the curls to define. A definite success from my eyes! Yay You!
A week of u maintaining a wash n go would be perfect! I must know cuz I want to do a wash n go but uhhh... I usually keep my 4c hair in twists because it lasts all week but I need something different for sure
Look at those tiny curls 😍 your hair looks gorgeous!! I don't even have curly hair but I've been watching a few of your videos and your hair looks beautiful to me in even the ones you don't feel it that much. But this one is my fave both before the wash and after. Beautiful.
w low porosity hair, make sure you apply your cream/leave in in the shower first with the hot steam/hot water on. low porosity needs some sort of heat to open the cuticle so the cream/leave in absorbs into the hair strands. then apply oil and gel. every product/water/moisture/oil evaporates from the hair over time, just applying them in layers helps you to retain as much moisture over the days and weeks
Yaaasss star puppy, giving me 4c realness!!! You're coils are gorgeous. Keep doing wash n go's, they fit you so well! 💖😄😄👏🏿 And also, I would LOVE to see a week of you keeping up with your wash n go
I found your channel after going down a RU-vid hair rabbit hole. I have been binge watching your videos since yesterday. You are so beautiful and funny and I am invested in the hair journey 🤣 we have very different hair, i had no idea all the work that goes into those amazing strands 💕
I needed this after my hair is too much meltdown this morning after yet another twist out fail. Idk twists outs and bantus are a hit or miss for me always and wash and gos are a No go for me lol. I am glad I'm not the only one with the 4c struggle. I'm def stealing that song for styling 😂.
Omg. I went thru all of that and eventually gave up. My hair would take too long to dry and I went through sooo much product trying to achieve this look. 3 years later I'm loving my locs and my hair has thrived while being left alone to do its own thing.
Hey girl, i don't have 4c hairs ... but i DO have very fine, super low porosity hair. Your porosity being so low is why the water is beading up on the outside of the hairs like that. And you are actually correct, with porosity that low the hair actually DOESN'T absorb products like other porosities, especially if there is water beaded up on the strands. For low porosity we really really REALLY benefit from just a little bit of heat. Not enough to damage the hair, just enough to open up the strands a little bit. Like a diffuser or hood dryer set to low .... what i personally do is mix my products in my hands with some SUPER hot water, before i apply them ... but again my curl pattern is super loose (2c-3a) so idk if that works for 4c or not ... but maybe ask your stylist the best way to open your cuticle up to absorb products??
It looks so cute and spunky! Shorter hair can be hard to get used to but you look lovely and wear it so well! Oh, and I'd like to see you try a bantu knot out. Would just be interested to see how that turns out. I think it would be very cute on you!😉
You literally had me in tears laughing like a crazy!!! I adore you for trying again, and yes it was wet...this time, sorry for yelling! Your curls had great definition too. Yessss texture 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽! I can totally relate with learning to love the shrinkage of short, fine real 4c hair! Bravo gorgeous girl ♥️👑
I wish I weren’t so physically weak so I can try this. The mind is willing, but the body is saying otherwise☹️🤕🤕🤒😷. I can only watch you do this. Loving your curls girl, that definition 🤩🤩🤩🤩
It really doesn't have to take that long. It's a matter of the method used. I have 4c hair and it takes about an hour or less from shampooing and deep conditioning to styling (but not including drying time) using the Anthony Dickey method. I discovered it on RU-vid and it made my hair care so much simpler.
