Haha thanks! It is the best spot to film; the light works the best there. Plus, a good excuse to film the Phal blooms! :P

Wow what a challenge! Yea they fuss on cold water on the leaves and repots! So I hope she recovers well! Can't wait to see next update. 😊

It was, but a good challenge! :D Yes, sadly I did mess the leaves up. So I will try not to use cold water again! I should have known better… Thanks for watching! :D

Great repot! It’s helps that you grow your orchids in inorganic media.

Plastic knitting needles !!! Brilliant. All the wooden stakes I use start molting within a few days

Thank you and it works wonders! I do get them from the action. Those are hollow inside, so you can cut them and then extend them with a wooden stick inside of the knitting needle. It doesn’t look very pretty, but it works! :D

@@TheOrchidSaGa I got a couple of plastic plant stakes from Belgium but this is a cheaper idea (and I got a blokker right next door they sell them as well 😁

I don't think yours will even notice the repot. The reason why they generally don't like a repot is because the roots don't respond well to the change in environment when using organic media. When potted in organic, the old media will be more acidic and wetter (especially bark), to more neutral and drier when it is new. In your setup, the environment is stable so it shouldn't make any difference to the plant.

I agree, I think it will grow on like nothing ever happened. That’s the beauty of growing in inorganic! I LOVE it so much during these repots, no messing around with the roots!

Hi EJ, I recently reported my Darwin from moss to Pon in self watering, and so far, she is doing very well. She has a new leaf, too. Great job on that repot. Things got a bit tricky for a moment there. ❤😊

@TheOrchidSaGa 3 месяца назад
Haha LOL, they did indeed! But it ended up all good :P How wonderful to read your Darwin orchid does well in the Pon. Mine did well from the start in pumice. It looks like they like the inorganic I believe. Thank you for watching!

Wow, fantastic Eelke! About Angraecums fussing with repots. That's what I read too, however... I brought 2 Angraecums (magdelena and rutenbergia) into my collection last fall. I saw new growing root tips on both plants and decided to take the bull by the horns and get them transitioned to semi-hydro in pumice... come what may! 😬😂 Within 4-6weeks I saw a new leaves emerging in each plant and have continued growing although I was not able to see the roots at all. I lost one leaf on the magdelena, but I have new side growths starting as well, and roots are growing fantastic. Seemed to take the transition from bark to pumice without a hiccup. I wasn't expecting to see blooms for at least a year anyway so just got it done. I was in the middle of taking apart that Miltoniopsis that was climbing all up in itself when I saw you post your video. Nice to have company. 😉 Your angraecum should bloom next year since you didn't have to mess with the root sytem. Good video Eelke, thank you! 🙏🤗💖

That is exactly how my Eng… took the repot into pumice S/W too! It just took off. I was so afraid that it wouldn’t like it, but it is the opposite! :D How did the repot go? And nice roots? … It looks very strong in the pictures so I think it will do well after the repot… Thanks! :D

@@TheOrchidSaGa It went well! I took it apart making 6 pieces... yes I did... planted 4 pieces into a wide self-watering hanging basket. (I don't hang them.) I have 2 pieces to grow on in bark/moss/perlite mix for others who may be interested in this beautiful and very fragrant Miltoniopsis. Btw, I FINALLY have a lead on acquiring a Herr Alexander in May. So pleased! 👍👍😁

Great repot EJ! Could you use pebbles instead of pumice?
@TheOrchidSaGa
@TheOrchidSaGa 3 месяца назад
Thank you, and not if you want something that wicks water. But if you soak your plants, you can grow them in pebbles. I only use a top layer of pebbles.

Is it because you switched to a net pot that you didn’t need to wick the water?
@TheOrchidSaGa
@TheOrchidSaGa 3 месяца назад
No not necessarily, it is because the bottom of the pot is sitting in the water. So the pumice will wick the water on its own.
