I think that's all reaction videos in general. That's why this genre of youtube videos mean a ton to me. I would love to go back in time and experience an album for the first time. And if I can't do that, I'm going to watch another person's reaction and compare it to my own. Reaction videos have completely changed my opinion on music.
This guy is the logical culmination of the "music reaction" RU-vid genre. He is the pinnacle of a video category plagued by the lowest of efforts. Something about the unconventional way he experiences music, completely immersing himself and not troubling with the nitty gritty, lends itself perfectly to this content. He even makes his own additions to the songs in real time. You can watch as the music washes over him, and see it flow through him. The rest can go home now. He's perfected the formula.
Unfortunately it wasn’t ever released on vinyl, but you can get a analogue cassette version if you look hard enough. But agreed, he’s going to loose his mind with all the distortion / noise.
Hey man I don’t know if you’ll read this but I just want you to know that we do not overlook the amount of effort that you put into these videos. If you ever need to take a break from going so hard on the editing, please do so, we will not mind a bit
@@ericbumbera664 I understand. But i find his twists fun and creative. And I can see he isnt disrespectful or being purposely ignorant of the tracks. I can give this guy a pass imo
@@ericbumbera664 it’s not like he’s adding shit and hating, he is doing this and enjoying it so fucking much, you need to grow up and let people enjoy what they wabr
Love em both. Extremely different though, so it’s not like they are comparable. Fantano is a critic, and Mercurial is a viber who captures his raw experiences with the music.
Can tell you’re talented just by how you add to the songs creatively and see patterns in music. You pick up shit in your 1st listen I’ve still not noticed having heard the song thousands of times.
Runaway was his “comeback song” after the whole taylor swift incident. he basically disappeared for a year and reappeared at the VMAs to perform this song - hence the toast to douchebags, scumbags, assholes - that’s what the media was calling him at that time makes the song even that much better when put into that context!
This video made me fully realize the effort he puts into his videos. The synth that he added on top of Runaway made the song even better, there's 4 different cameras in the room all for different angles to show what he's doing, the random instrumental he made using the pops and cracks from the vinyl and the mixing let me hear sounds in some songs that I hadn't heard before. Thank you Mr. Mercurial Number Six
@@phatrick that’s your opinion. I strongly disagree. But regardless, that’s pretty rude considering the unique content that Mr. Mercurial is bringing here that is hard to find anywhere else on RU-vid
A part of me thinks he does all this stuff so he can have the full songs without being struck, so he’s throwing up his own sounds above so it isn’t just a copy
a few things i think you'd appreciate knowing: 1. during the vocoded outro of runaway, kanye was literally driven to tears while recording and was essentially just crying into the microphone at the end. 2. the 3 voices in blame game in the different ears are the same personas shown in the album art with the 3 faces
@@dunksterer the carrier pigeon was most of it, but the rest was the podcast "Dissect." It's superb, i recommend giving it a listen if you have time to spare.
@@dunksterer There is no source lol Kanye fans love taking fan theories as facts to make Kanye seem more genius than he is. I know this cus I used to be a Kanye stan. He is talented sure, but a lot of these "facts" are made up.
I’ll never forget the first time I listened to My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. I was already a massive Kanye West fan before the album dropped and it was my most anticipated album of that year. He also had probably one of the greatest lead ups to an album ever. Every Friday he would drop us a track as part of the G.O.O.D. Friday series as an build up to the album. I come from South Africa so generally we didn’t get everything as soon as it dropped in the states and this was way before the internet was today and instant reactions and reviews weren’t a thing so I visited the CD almost everyday to check whether the guys had the album in stock. And then one Friday, I went into the store and there it was. I was still in high school but I had saved up for this album and I bought it. I remember coming home telling myself that I’ll listen to the first few tracks on our old ass stereo system (it was older than me!) and then go make some food (I had just gotten home from school) and then listen to the rest of the album. 70 minutes later I was still sitting on the floor. I hadn’t moved. The thought of wanting to go made food has gotten consumed when by the time I got to Power. And when I heard people clapping I also started clapping as well because I knew that I had just listened to the greatest album of all time
I’ve never come across this channel. I’ve never seen any of your videos. But this Dark Twisted Fantasy series caught my attention and made me instantly subscribe. I like reaction videos but yours really put my ear to something I’ve never heard before. I’ve listened to this album plenty of times but after watching your videos, I played the album in my car and heard sounds I had never heard before. That’s something special and remarkable that many can’t do. You’re like “The Giver”... but with sound of course haha. Love the energy, love the enthusiasm, and when you sip your adult beverages just totally jamming out... man I feel like I’m there with you.
(GENIUS ANNOTATION) Runaway outro - The outro contains Kanye singing the first four lines of the hook through a vocoder. It begins with West mumbling something that sounds like “I'ma be honest…” before the vocal effects drowns out what is audible in his words, to the point. It could be interpreted that the purpose of the outro as a fantasy of escape through pure catharsis, with the vocoder literalizing Kanye’s ability to transform his personal shortcomings into art. As a result the words take on an emotional, primal, more visceral sound. Another interpretation was proposed by Chicago Sun-Times writer Thomas Conner, who wrote: The last four minutes find him humming and singing, but his voice is Auto-Tuned and distorted beyond perceptibility. What’s he saying or singing? Can’t really make it out, can’t really understand him. Which, no doubt, is how he feels his clumsy public statements are often received.
Or, he just wanted to turn his voice into a guitar tone. I doubt very seriously Kanye West thinks that deeply about any of his creative indulgences, as he indulges in them.
That’s like the whole point of Runaway lol. It’s a self aware song of his douchebaggery. That’s what makes it so amazing in my opinion. Not everyday an artist makes a vulnerable song like this.
@@mzeamer6847 lol its definitely not the whole point of the song. But the irony is genius. Keep in mind when this song came out Ye was a lot more well recieved within the general public than nowadays.
@@serzayy3996 bruh yes he was lol before all the MAGA shit and interviews where he goes bonkers talking about how much of a genius he is. The only people who cared about the taylor swift shit were white women

DO NOT let the negative reviews get to you. You’re bringing joy into the viewers lives. Enthusiasm, completely immersed & heart felt. Everything the world needs right now.
This mini-series of you reacting to MBDTF is a masterpiece and genuinely some of the best content I’ve seen on RU-vid. The energy, passion, wisdom, humour, production, editing, musical talent etc. was immense. Bravo 👏🏼
@abmusic after I posted the comment I thought that. It might be, but sometimes it's not on perfect pitch so maybe it's not. But yeah, it wouldn't make sense for a little controller to have every musical note 😂
I'm sure he just edits the bell sound to the correct pitch, but he does have a very good music ear, playing bass over a song he's listening to for the first time
Lost In the World is my favorite song of all time. To watch you embrace it (and anything you listen to) for the first time is nearly as moving as the first time I heard it myself. I'm grateful for that.
These 4 reactions to MBDTF have meant a lot to me. Kanye is my favorite ever, and the fact you already listened to Late Registration and MBDTF is amazing. It’d be a dream come true if you listened to Yeezus. It’s my favorite Kanye album. It’s revolutionary. I think you’d love it.
Man... if not anything else, watching this man’s passion is incredible. There are few better feelings in life than seeing someone deep into their passion and watching them enjoy the things you’re passionate about as well. Cheers mate.
@@AetherCS2 drake stans a different breed bruh, its half normal people who are insane enough to think he better than kanye and kendrick, and half 13 year old girls who only stream nice for what
the tempo is slightly sped up and the pitch is slightly higher than usual as well (probably just the vinyl being played slightly too fast) which might contribute to it sounding better (which it definitely does imo)
This series has been one of thee best i have witnessed on this platform man I really appreciative these videos can’t wait for more you keep teaching us and learning with us music has no boundaries and lets reflect that at all times.
Been watching your channel since your KSG reaction and gotta say when at first I didn't understand what you were going for, even I could see how much work you've put into crafting a video that does both the artist and listeners justice. Since then I think I must've watched that video 4 times front to back and also every single other video you've made since then which goes to show that your channel is more than just the albums you're listening to, at least to me, and I've been more than happy to follow your musical journey ever since. As a metal head and hip hop head and heck, just a general music lover, it's been so fun going back to albums you've listened to that I love but also finding a lot of new music, and I feel that you enhance that experience even more than just slapping headphones on and hitting the play button on spotify. This Kanye experience was stellar and much as I would like to see you react to his other works, I would also love to see your reactions to The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails which is a fantastic industrial metal record, Sad wings of Destiny by Judas Priest which is early heavy metal, Stankonia by Outkast, Mystic Stylez by Three 6 Mafia, any Run the Jewels album, Flamboyant by Dorian Electra, Sawayama by Rina Sawayama, or Charli by Charli XCX. Anyways I apologise for the long list of recommendations, by all means please listen to whatever comes to you, I'll enjoy it either way😅 I'm happy to see how much your channel has grown since I started watching. Peace from London :)
Bruh Jon goated, I literally rewatch his reactions all the time, check out TCtheTopCat if you haven’t, he’s great too, has a really unique personality so it really adds to the reactions
jon and tc are the best 100%. i like this guy but i feel like he does a little too much in his videos. other two really take in the music and you can tell they’re passionate about hip hop.
@@bigdog6927 he doesn’t do to much that’s his personality. He’s doesn’t only react to hip hop, he pays attention to the music and adds his own live twists to songs instead of focusing solely on the lyrics like most reactors. This guy is the best out
Mate I just want to say. This is already one of my favourite albums ever. But after watching you react it it’s further up my list. Please keep supplying the world with your content. It’s golden
The biggest compliment I could give this video is that I now can’t wait to get in the car and put this album on during my commute to work this evening. Almost like rediscovering an album that I’ve played hundreds of times. Thank you for that.
Just found this channel through this video, love this concept of experiencing albums with you. Definitely subscribing, looking forward to more album experiences!
It really is crazy how what you did with the song just gave it a whole new element and made it all come together better in my opinion. Runaway is one of if not Kanye’s best song but I’ve always thought the beat was very raw and missing something.
Your ability to improvise and make something new of the music or add something of your own is incredible. I REALLY enjoyed this reaction series, I was dancing for my life to Lost in The World while listening to it with you. What an incredible experience! I'll be watching many more of your videos. Thank you!!
