A description of my project where I converted my snapper rear engine riding mower from a 12 horsepower briggs and stratton into a Lithium ion battery powered electric mower. parts include a 48V module from a Chevrolet Volt, a Mot energy ME-1004 electric motor, a contactor, a disconnect, a 200 amp fuse, some giant cables, and a latching power switch.
Here are the specific parts that I used to make my conversion:
Motenergy ME1004 DC Motor with Double brush set 24-48V - $550-eBay
2016 Chevy Volt Lithium Gen 2 Battery 12s2p 2.3kwh 48V pack Golf Cart, Solar, RV - $430-eBay
Disconnect Switch - ED250-1 AS N-1612 -48 Max Volts - $20 (not really required, but not a bad idea)-eBay
NEW Curtis Albright SW180-1030L, DC Contactor 40V CO, Heavy Duty - $35 on eBay
16mm 12V Latching Push Button Power Switch Stainless Steel Red LED Waterproof-$5.95 on eBay
Low Voltage Disconnect Module LVD, 48V 30A, Protect/Prolong Battery Life. -$20 eBay (haven't installed it yet)
Plus you'll need a 200 amp fuse and heavy cables. I bought mine at a battery place in Houston Texas that made them for me. I had measured what lengths I needed, and they put the lugs (ends) on the cables for me. I had some Kicker 00 gage stereo cable that a friend gave me from his son's stereo install. Hope this helps.
