It is annoying to tie, and hard to cast, but the results have been excellent for me over the last 5-6 years for my biggest flathead catfish!

I'm just curious with this setup, wouldn't a three-way swivel work instead of tying both lines to the same swivel loop?
@Vonklink6741

Great idea! A lot of times I'll put on a fresh gill, throw it out and it just sits there. Been thinking about leader length too. 36 in. leader seams like a lot but it would give the bait more room to roam. Great advice on the creek chubs too! Me and my little girl went to a local creek and caught a bunch. The temp dropped and they caught more fish than the gills! Keep up the good work man! Well at least keep teaching this old dog new tricks! Lol Go Cubbies!

Could you just use a 3 way swivel for a drop shot rig and throw a clip-on bobber above the swivel a foot or so if you don't have any big fancy slip bobbers like that?

So I’m a little new to fishing for catfish and I bank fish mostly. How much line do you have between your bobber stop and the hook? I know some of the places I fish are around 60 feet deep and a good ways away from the bank. And I’m not sure I could cast a rig like this that far. I’ll keep watching your videos but if you have a little more info on this set up I would appreciate it.
@RiverCertified

This rig definitely works best in water less than 10 feet or so. I just cast and check to figure out depth

I'm confused..... Does the bobber come all the way up to the surface? And if so, wouldn't that be a pain to reel in with the bobber stop on there? I really want to try this, but I'm just REALLY confused.....
@RiverCertified
@RiverCertified 6 лет назад
The bobber will come all the way to the surface. The bobber stop shouldn't make reeling it in any different. You can reel it in through the guides and onto the reel even. Then you just cast it, flip on the bait clicker, and kick back while you wait for a bite. Hope that helps! I really appreciate you watching!

Let me get this straight, your bobber will be submerged under water? So, you don't use the float so much as a strike indicator, but more for keeping the baitfish off the bottom?

Mines little different maybe but works. But this your doing I've never used big weight to hit bottom bait above then a big bobber on top. So I want to see if you got more videos fishing this way. Do you need to no the exact deepth so your bobber floating on top and not understand water. Do you have the bobber alot deeper than the water so it's pulling some yea ide live tiesrn more. Thanks and have a great week. O yea I hit sub a d hit the bell want to learn more. God bless

I usually do not tell people this but going to help you out here young Man. Your Leader should ALWAYS be heavier then your mainline! Most stress when fighting fish is the last 12 to 18 inches of line. That is what will break easier then the rest of the line so why are you guys putting 85 pound mainline and 30 to 40 pound leaders? Come on. Switch it the other way. I catch 40 to 60 pound Flatheads with 40 pound mainline and 50 pound leader. Also, you have more line to fight the fish with if your Mainline is lighter. Good Luck!

River Certified, I hope you did not take that wrong brother! It is true that most lines break at that last 2 foot area. less poundage there just blows me away. Lol. Would love to fish with you sometime. Come to Mississippi, Hollar at me

Bill Briscoe not at all. If we all did the same thing, it would be a boring planet. Thanks for the invite, there's some big cats down there! I might see ya someday!

He using lighter line so if the lead gets caught in something on the bottom he can break it off and still keep the fish.
