I love including knits in my capsule wardrobe! Often we think of autumn and winter for knitting, but there are so many great patterns and fibres out there that are brilliant for summer.
I talk through the pieces I've made, what I'm working on now, and what I'd like to make next.
Pieces are:
- Ripple crop top by Jessie Maed Designs
- Ripple crop top worsted by Jessie Maed Designs
- Outline Tank by JMD (dungarees are Burnside Bibs by Sew House 7)
- Camisole no 2 by My Favourite Things Knitwear
- Fanel Cardigan in naturally dyed wool by me (I used madder root)
- Monstera Socks by Melia Knits in wool from James Makes Yarn
- Free sock pattern with WYS wool in shade 'Woodland Awake'
- Camisole no 5 by MFT Knitwear
- Look At My Holes - image from James Watt's Ravelry page
- Vacation Vest - image from Park n Knit's Ravelry page

Wish I'd not discovered your channel - I'm a 54yr old bloke who's only just coming to terms with starting to sew last year, and now I'm worried I'm going to drink slightly too much one night and order some basic knitting stuff! I miss proper woollen jumpers in the winter but they're so expensive, but I have far more time than money so... Love the style of your videos, and really enjoy watching people create. i say do it! it's such a rewarding hobby and even the simplest of sweater patterns can give you wonderful results-you can even find free ones on ravelry-and there's so many how-to videos for everything you need to know to get started on youtube. i taught myself that way and have been knitting for almost two years now!

Haha I have definitely been guilty of that I'm afraid Pete. As Jeddie says though, there are some good free patterns out there! Buying yarn is addictive, though. I hope you're enjoying the sewing so far 😊

@@threadandyarn That's not helping! 🤣Thankfully at the moment I don't even know where to start looking, but I'm sure it'll happen. Even if I don't admit to it in public... Yeah, enjoying the sewing, even though still rubbish at it! It's fun learning new skills, and even better if you get something usable at the end of it.

Ahh, Pete, if you love proper woollen jumpers, you’re going to love one that you made yourself even more! Perhaps start with a simple vest (I’ve just realised this video is a year old, so maybe you already have!). Those are lovely too, and are easy to get right. There are heaps of great free patterns to be found. Good luck, and many happy hours of knitting! 🧶😊

Yes for the LOOK AT MY HOLES! I’ve made it a couple times. I love throwing it over dresses. I’m working on James Watts dappled lace rn. As a 35yr old it’s definitely whatever we like energy.

I just discovered your channel and loved your video ❤ The colours you've chosen for all your knits are awesome and really suit you! Have you looked into what colour season you are? I'd say you're a soft autumn 🍁 I think I'm a soft summer 🌞 so there's a bit of overlap in the colours 😊 I'm inspired to make some summer knits but live in Australia so we're in autumn here at the mo. I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos! 🧶✨

So glad you enjoyed it! You're absolutely right, I am a soft autumn 🍂 it has really helped me to decide on colours since realising that. I still experiment, but now I understand why certain colours (like bright pink) just don't really work for me. Maybe I'll do a video on colours? I always wish I knitted summer knits in winter, so they were ready for the season I want to wear them in 😊
