I have been racing long-distance and ultra-distance endurance events for almost 15 years, from triathlons to ultra trail races, and I have yet to do a half marathon or marathon outside of an Ironman race. I have decided to change that in 2024, and I am currently registered for a half marathon (Surf City) and two full marathons (the Los Angeles Marathon and the Santa Rosa Marathon).
The Los Angeles Marathon, often called the "Stadium to the Sea" course, was first held in 1986. The inaugural race had over 10,000 participants. The course traditionally starts at Dodger Stadium and finishes near the Santa Monica Pier. The route showcases various landmarks and neighborhoods of Los Angeles, such as the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Chinese Theatre, Rodeo Drive, and the Sunset Strip. The LA Marathon course presents unique challenges, including hills and varying elevations. The race takes runners through iconic areas such as Hollywood and Beverly Hills.

Hi I just stumbled across your channel, I’m a runner, that has transitioned into triathlon, iv only done a couple 1x sprint 2x Olympic, iv run 8 marathons and 1 ultra, next ur in May I’m doing a 100 mile bike ride and I’m dreading the training as I’m soooooo not a cyclist - I’m looking forward to following ur running journey :) 👏👏

@@billylee5335 to choose a running shoe is a very personal decision, and i am not a coach. So i can only tell from my own experience. As my nickname says i am old fashioned. I suggest to rotate at least bewtween 3 different pairs of shoes from different companies, non plated, medium to low stack , mild drop, rather firm compared to the average of the 2023 models. Rotate after each run, which means never run with the same shoes twice in a row. ....for example Adidas adizero adios 7 wide Asics Noosa tri 14 or 15 Nike Vomero Saucony Kinvara or Ride Newton Gravity Topo Ultrafly New Balance 880 (Topo cyclone 2.......i only have the cyclone 1, which might be to firm for most runners, ) twice or three times a month, you might sneak in a very minimalistic shoe like the Xero zelen. I don`t own that shoe, i have a pair of running sandals , called xero umara, which i use from time to time to keep me honest and help to improve my connction to the earth below my feet. Most runs should be slower than easy. Regular walks in addition to the runs are very helpful. Running happy and healthy beats running fast any day of the year I know most people disagree but it is what it is, and the facts talk a clear language. My last running injury, where i missed some runs was in 1975, my last running injury without missing a run was in 1986. Since i retired i have more time for running and recovering, so i run around 5000 kilometer this year for the fourth year in a row.......i have to admit a big part in my running is recovery, which i do extensively with a nap after most of my runs and most important a clean and healthy wholefood plant based nutrition, hydration with plain water, no supplements or addon ( except VitD3, Vitk2 and Zinc since the C19 pandemic)

LA is a tough course for sure! I ran a BQ there in 2020, but those last six miles were hell. Good luck out there!

3:15 is a breeze, if you run sub 1:40 at 70.3 half-marathon, you will break that 3:15h in pieces with 4-6week marathon focus block from that fitness

now u have disappointed all The Community !!! if your 2024 will be a running focus year, u will be going very much down the scale of value for all of us,running is for the very much ordinary people...for the plebe...for those who unfortunately can not afford to buy a road bike...we have through the last weeks appreciated and valued u very much in your efforts to become a better tri guy, now u are simple going down the bin with this running focus of yours,very very sad.

I’m not leaving triathlon. I want to become a better runner. I have running goals. I am racing Morro Bay 70.3 in May. I want to qualify for the 2025 WCs in Spain. I believe you can run and race triathlon. Is there a reason you can’t do both? I’m pretty sure I didn’t say I was done with triathlon. What am I missing?

Plenty of triathletes do other events like marathons,park runs etc just to add a different type of stimulus Heck some even do swimming events and cycling events
