You found the door to the basement, but yeah - it's a confusing mess in there. You can customize the site a *lot* - but there's a steep learning curve (one I'm still on, but I've worked with people who were further along, and together we made some cool stuff - even before MS slapped the Power Pages front end on it). Keep up the good work!

Thank you for your comment! Yes, you're right, there is definitely a learning curve with Power Pages. It can be a bit confusing at times, but with some practice and experimentation, you can make some really cool customizations. I appreciate your encouragement, and I'll continue to create more content on Power Pages. Thanks for watching!

I know how it feels to be in the Power Apps Dataverse. We had M&O to support a complex Dynamics/Power Apps management system built by Microsoft turned over to us when their contract ended. The next thing I knew I was changing snippets in the Dev environment. I'm not sure what I did, but right afterwards Russia invaded Ukraine. Then the licensing, don't even ask me (or Microsoft) about it!

Thank you for sharing. Power pages is a game changer for a novice like me. I was able to create a client portal in a few days. I tried to achieve this through SharePoint sites but it got messy and very time consuming.

I'm loving the new Power Pages, you are right...security is tricky trying to do a extranet portal with SharePoint

Excellent vid! I tried Power Pages. Not a fan. I find it even more restrictive in capabilities than SP Modern. MS seems to continue pushing the agenda of less capabilities for end-users to alleviate more support from their end. I didn’t find in Power Pages where MS finally cleaned up how users can or cannot edit pages regardless of how well you tighten up security groups. Corporate Marketing units want serious customizations. We spent more time finding work arounds in Modern for that, than we have in flat, blank pages. Years of doing this, I’m still not a fan of being “boxed” into web builds. But then again… just my opinion.. So, no flaming please! :-) Thank you again DeShon for another great vid. Look forward to the next one!

The struggle is real! But I must say, it is a step in the right direction...power Portal was brutal

Thanks for the run-down DeShon. I find it unusual that products like these are promoted as no-code or low-code implying that anyone with a rudimentary knowledge of programming can do it. Clearly the tool extends far beyond just a WYSIWYG page designer/functional generator to enabling/demanding tenancy admin activities. That's something that would never be granted to me despite working in IT for more than thirty years (and to be honest I don't want it). You've convinced me to abandon this path for a user demand and take another path to achieve it. Given the amount of mucking around and politicking that would have ensued I dodged a bullet there - thanks again.

You're welcome! I understand your concern about low-code and no-code tools sometimes oversimplifying the complexity involved in certain tasks. It's important to set realistic expectations and understand the limitations of these tools. I'm glad I could help you make a decision that works better for your needs. Good luck with your alternative approach, and feel free to reach out if you have any further questions or need assistance in the future.

So, my take-away, please correct me if I missed something, is have external users register using their email (do not use tokens from social media sites).

Hi Eric, yes....create an configuration to allow your users to register with their existing social account (so they do not have to create a separate username/password). Having both options, gives the user the opportunity to decide what's best for them...it's super cool, and super easy to set-up

Tried Power Pages for use case of B2B and B2C. We expect the experience of Power Pages will be same as Canvas app of Power Apps but unfortunately it is not. Portal Management is model driven based. Power Pages Studio is a SharePoint based. Everything is very difficult to customize and config.

this is one of my biggest complaints, why so many different dev experiences for things considered to be Power Apps (model driven, canvas, Power Apps for Teams, etc...) super frustrating

Greetings, I really enjoy your insight, your delivery and most importantly I learn from your content. I have a question regarding Power Pages. In a potential use case there could be as many 20,000 a anonymous users. I would be asking the Users to upload photo document and populate forms. Is this a viable use for this platform or, should I seek something more robust?
@DeShonClark
@DeShonClark Год назад
Thank you for watching, that sounds like a very interesting solution. The number of users do not concern me, you probably want to look at the best subscription model to support it and not break the bank. I'm thinking gut feel without understanding your requirements pay as you go subscription maybe the way to go. The use account does not concern me, the ability to upload documents and files does not concern me.
