I wasn't metal detecting for four months due to some health problems, now I'm back! I found this small place during a hike in January 2024 and decided to come back with my detector.
I have a feeling for locations and I'm glad that I was right this time. The relic hunt started with a 1978 pigeon ring, something that put a smile on my face.
A 1700's button gave me confirmation that the layer of soil around this place might contain interesting finds (usually not within reach of my detector).
You saw the rest. Shiny buttons, coins and a 1800's wind cap. I couldn't be happier with the result. The highlight for me was a small Roman (?) nail made usually of iron. Not this time! The artifact was gold plated, which must have been special back then.
Question is, did it come from a Roman sandal of an "important" person? Maybe it changes history and proves that Caesar was here ;).
I hope you enjoyed this outing. I had no issues and hope to get out and continue #metaldetecting soon.
Have a great weekend!
