Congrats girl! Architect here! The designer may of put the window orientation not ever getting direct sun on purpose. Because the house doesn't have AC, the windows would create a green house effect in your living room. And that would basically be hell every summer. :)

That’s what moving out of the city into the country does to ya. I could never imagine being happy living in the city. There is nothing like living in the middle of nowhere, no neighbors, acres of beautiful land, and just peace and happiness.

@@heathershaven901 I actually think it’s more of a getting out of LA thing. There’s a lot of toxicity there with body image, drama, lack of privacy, etc. I’ve always got the worst vibes from there. It’s not a California thing, it’s just something that seems to go hand in hand with the entertainment capital of the world known as LA. I live in Colorado and I absolutely love Denver. Big cities make me happy because there is always so much to do but I understand wanting more privacy and space. Colorado has some of the most beautiful options for farm land and none of it is too far from any of the cities here. She said she is living in her hometown again and I can see there are plenty of houses nearby. She isn’t quite in the middle of nowhere like you might think. Anyways, my point is I think getting out of LA and closer to her family and friends is absolutely the healthiest choice possible. I think moving out of LA will also be beneficial to Ryland and Shane.

🗣️DONT MOW YOUR GRASS!!!🗣️ Leave it as is and when it starts to die off in the fall seed it with native wildflowers, you can order huge seed packs online like they use for roadsides. In the spring you will have an incredible insta-worthy flower meadow and an incredible and very necessary habitat for pollinators like your man-of-the-land yellow butterfly 🦋🥰

They probably oriented the house the way they did knowing there wasn't going to be central air. Direct sunlight would heat up the house so they wanted to avoid that.

The sun is most of the day in de south. It turns from east to west over the south! Durin the winter her house will naturally stay worm:) In the Netherlands having a house with south windows is a premium!

this is correct, my various aunts and uncles that live in kansas (semi similar climate) only have a window unit in their bedrooms for AC, & their houses are oriented like this for this reason!!

Morgan, I live in TX and my bf built our house facing from North to South on our property and not only do we still get great sunlight without huge W/E facing windows, it helps us keep the house cool during the summer, so we don't have to blast our a/c too hard.

Houses are supposed to have the main living areas facing south, and rooms or the private areas facing North, this with the intention to not have direct sunlight and avoid overheating in the summer. Also, if your common areas are facing southwest, they have the best orientation suggested 🌞 (Architect here ✨)

Morgan maybe live in it first, the light makes sense in that heat. The itty bathroom is a powder room. The holes in the walls vent the heat, as heat rises, aircon won't necessarily help with that unless you're blasting it = massive bill, the basement is a rumpus room aka entertainment room and would be so cool in heat. The door is a dutch door, perfect for heat, catching a breeze, the stove top is well vented so the heat rises... there's actually a lot of clever design to combat heat, maximise breezes.

Definitely all makes sense, but I also understand the discomfort of old houses being designed for much shorter people. Feeling like you don't fit in your house would get frustrating (short shower, small tub, short sink). Also, I get the discomfort of having an opening in your bedroom in terms of privacy hahah. Hopefully, she can find some solutions that keep the smart (and eco-friendly) features while also feeling comfortable in the space!

This video is so wholesome, inspiring and heartwarming. Hire your dad as the project manager since he knows what he’s doing and what your vision is and can manage contractors and oversee the entire renovation and make sure they are on time and doing everything properly for the projects you aren’t doing yourself.

Build an emergency fund 5. Invest! Save to in vest , It's a proven way to get richer. Very important to financial success;);)

@13:24 the mount is fine its probably in a stud it's just the bottom half isnt attached correctly if you look at the video the mount that holds the actual fan doesnt move at all it's just the bit that holds the blades I assume its fell out of its socket and it's probably just being held up by its wires.
